3 BILL HENARD Executive Director-Treasurer Last year we proclaimed a New Day for West Virginia Southern Baptists. The fruit of that celebration is an unprecedented spirit of unity among our churches, associations, and the state convention office. We praise God for what he s doing in and through our state. We ve themed this season, All In, as we call our churches and associations to seek God, place everything on the table before him - our lives, talents, and treasures - and pray he would do mighty things through us as we labor to make Jesus known. We wish to be a generous people in response to Christ s generosity; giving to him is simply giving back what he first gave us. Imagine what God could accomplish through this state convention of Southern Baptists if we worked together, committed to radical, sacrificial generosity as a way of life, and grew as a generous people. We could tackle the growing drug epidemic in our midst, develop and send out leaders, plant and revitalize churches, and tell all of West Virginia - from the cities to the hollers - the good news of the gospel. One of the things we ve heard consistently during our associational Strengthen and Send Roundtables is the want and need of our churches to cluster together to make such an impact through shared mission, resources, and people. When we are all in for the mission of God, we can do more together than by ourselves. We hope you find this guide a helpful resource as you plan for this year s state missions emphasis. There are lots of opportunities scheduled over the coming year for your church to be strengthened - all made possible through your faithful participation in the Cooperative Program and Ola Cox State Mission offerings. More resources, including videos, bulletin inserts, etc. will be available on our website before the end of August. 4 All-In is not about a dollar amount. We pray God calls people in our churches to commit to sacrificial generosity this season as a way of life. We want to grow as a state convention by living in response to the gospel bridge builders united in generosity. This is how success will look.

5 Preach him if you can; go abroad into the foreign field if you may. If you cannot do that, make money for him that you may give it to his cause. The annual meeting of the State Convention in October 1973 recognized her contribution to the growth and development of WMU work by naming the annual State Mission Offering as Ola Cox Offering for State Missions. 9 2017 All In statewide missions goal: $100,000 Associational Development, $70,000 Each association receives 70% of the receipts. Local associational leadership determine how funds are allocated. Missions Camp/Missions Ministries, $10,000 Combined missions budget for camp, mission education, training and materials Disaster Relief, $6,500 Training and response to disasters in our state Pastor Annuity, $5,500 This supplements the convention budget line and covers a minimum amount for pastors annuity when their church participates at the required level. Church Emergency Help, $2,750 Assists repairs to existing facilities and equipment when local funds are not available 6.5% 10% 2.75% 2.75% 2.5% 5.5% 70% Church Staff Emergency Funds, $2750 Emergency needs of church staff members Promotion, $2,500 Supplements convention budget for preparing state missions promotional materials *2016 Update... $93,784 given to the Ola Cox 2016 State Missions Offering $6,564 distributed to each association within our convention

11 STATE MISSIONS OFFERING CHECKLIST Study these materials and visit wvcsb.org/olacox to download additional promo helps. Set an offering goal for your church. Prepare a visual so members can see the giving progress. Distribute offering envelopes, prayer guides, and bulletin inserts to members on August 27. Promote. Display posters at your church, post info on your website, and share through social media. Plan a church-wide state missions study and time of prayer - include kids, students, and adults. Emphasize state missions, biblical generosity and stewardship, and living life ALL IN - a response to Christ s generosity - throughout September. Encourage members to give during the month. Celebrate your church s commitment to generosity during this season of ALL IN, giving thanks to God for the opportunity to join his mission to redeem the world. You replicate what you celebrate.
