The Praise Report Inside this issue: COP Artists Showcase their Painting Skills 2 A church in the community for the community July September 2018 Compassion Del Rosa - Mission, Project, Walk The tragedy that occurred on the eve of Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3 rd was devastating. Eight people were wounded, two critically, during a shooting at a San Bernardino, Del Rosa St. apartment complex during a dice game (Press Enterprise Newspaper, Sept. 4, 2018). Cathedral of Praise Ministries has formed an extension to assist to combat this growing and on-going battle A Church in the Community for the Community. The members of this group, are dynamic people who are willing to go that extra mile to help someone else. We have a great concern from the tenants in this area. Our main goal is to build relationships filled with love, hope, and prayer. A School With Spirit 3 Mother s Ministry Annual Fellowship Senior Fest Celebration! 4 Dr. Denise Fleming, A Woman Positioned for Purpose Cathedral of Praise International Ministries F.A.N.S. Day 5 6 In Loving Memory 7 1 Corinthians 13:13 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

The Praise Report Page 2 COP Artists Showcase their Painting Skills Did you know that we have some talented artists here at COPIM? Well, during the Women s ministry co-ed off-site event held at the Purple Easel they were exposed. The group received instructions on how to create their own On the Shore painting. At the the beginning of the session a few of the first-timers believed they would end up in deep waters, but with a little help from friendly instructors they all survived this new painting experience. The facility played great music from every genre which aided in relaxing everyone. This was a great way to spend a late Saturday afternoon that produced lots of smiles, laughter and maybe even a little friendly competition. Towards the end of the session you could see the personal touches being added to the individual paintings. This was a relaxing fun-filled atmosphere that everyone enjoyed. First-timers vowed to return and those who returned from the previous year also stated they couldn t wait for the next outing. The men in attendance expressed how they enjoyed this experience and would love to be included in future events. Perhaps you can join us too! We would love to see you at our next painting experience, watch for video and bulletin announcements.

The Praise Report Page 3 A School With Spirit As fearful as the new school is to many, the staff and students put their heads down and went to work. When they came up for air they realized that over 90% of the students improved in reading and math, the elementary school percussions section was set high however, the staff and students are aiming to set an even higher bar this year. Through consistency, patience, love and God, all things are possible. Donations from COPIM members helped to aid our young scholars education and fulfill the long-time dream of our Bishop and for that, we thank you! On September 5 th excitement was in the air as thirty-one students arrived for day one at Harvest Academy Learning Center (HALC). Thirty-one students may not be a big deal to most but for staffers Mrs. Terry, Tameka and Moon, this meant that God exceeded our expectations as student enrollment doubled! This also meant that our Visionary, Bishop Craig W. Johnson aka Harvest Academy s principle, dean of students and disciplinarian was able to brag on how amazing the school is for yet another year. The population this year varies from families as far out as Perris, CA to the few who walk to school daily. These parents trust that their children will be safe, gain confidence and improve in their studies while enrolled at HALC and if you were look at the stats HALC of year one, all of the previous mentioned are true. Mother's Ministry Annual Fellowship The Annual Mother's Fellowship Gathering was held recently at the home of Mother Mary Calloway. People from different churches, faiths and nationalities attended the fellowship. The Mother's Ministry focus is designated to honor the mothers of COPIM who are over the age of 60. An invitation was extended to several local vendors to come out and share their wares. The Mother's were able to shop and make purchases at The Rain Mobile Boutique as well as enjoy the beautiful African clothing from Mother Pat Ogiamien's personal collection. The mothers also enjoyed listening to old school music, and dined on freshly fried catfish, potato salad and collard greens, bean pies and cake. Some mothers took a stroll in the vegetable garden amongst the roses while others enjoyed and styled wide brim hats and sunglasses as they relaxed in the pool and sat by the Jacuzzi. God had perfect timing and perfected His purpose because several of the mothers who attended this fellowship did so after having attended the funeral of Mother Sadie Johnson who was with the Mothers Ministry for a number of years. Mother Mary Taylor gave the following statement to The Praise Report Newsletter about the event. It was "Restorative...The outreach restored the joy and fellowship that is needed in life." Mother Mary Calloway stated "We needed this fellowship to get to know each other because you never know whether you will see that person again...so we must appreciate each other and love each other every chance we get." The owner and Style Consultant of The Rain Mobile Boutique described this event as "Wonderful and Impressive, and said she would come again. The Mothers of COPIM have always been individually and collectively supportive of the community as a whole and this year was no different. The Mothers Ministry of COPIM has been an influence on the small business community by utilizing and supporting their ideas, beauty and styles.

The Praise Report Page Senior Fest Celebration! The 7 th Annual Senior Fest Celebration themed "BACK TO EDEN (sponsored by the Mother's Ministry) was held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Cathedral of Praise. The Mother s Ministry of Cathedral of Praise International Ministries took us Back to Eden in celebration at the Senior Fest. African outfits were worn by the mothers and their guests. Each member s attire was reminiscent of a picture associated with the famous Garden of Eden in the Bible. Mother Mary Taylor oversees the Mother s Ministry. In her welcome speech, she expressed gratitude to those who honored the invitation and restated the objectives of the Mother s Ministry. Creating an enabling environment for COPIM seniors to fellowship with one another annually and to serve as an outreach for other seniors in the community. Mother Juanita Barnes read words of wisdom, emphasizing her confidence in God. The Lord stretches his merciful hands to believers in their times of need. She urged everyone to count their blessings, not their troubles, reach for goals that have been set, and live a life of serenity. In addition, Mother Barnes encouraged believers to "do ordinary things in a special way and take one day at a time." The award ceremony was the highlight of the event. Two extraordinary women received the post humus honorary awards, for their contribution to the growth and well-being of COPIM. Mother Sadie L. Johnson and Elder Gitana Scott whom the Lord called home to glory. Mother Sadie L. Johnson s love was described as glue that held people together. Elder Scott was known for her unwavering trust in the Lord in any situation. The Outstanding Service Awards were given to Lafayette Amie, Delisa Alford, Mary Lowe, Women s Ministry and Deacon Lee Harris. The Caleb Mentality Award was received by Pastors E. James Eddington and Sterling Evans. The recipients of the Lydia Mentality Award were Audrey Brocks, Rubye Brooks, Belinda Harris, Vickie B. Hutchinson, Fannie J. Mathews, Mattie Nelson, and Ollie Scafie. Both the Women's and the COPIM Dance Ministries were instrumental in orchestrating the food and decor. They were happy to serve the Mother's Ministry as a part of helping in the church and the community as a whole. The Mother s expressed gratitude to the members of both the Women s and Dance Ministries.

The Praise Report Page 5 Dr. Denise Fleming, A Woman Positioned for Purpose The Praise Report Newsletter had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Denise Fleming. She is one of the candidates for the Moreno Valley upcoming mayoral election. Dr. Fleming is a trailblazer, trendsetter, pioneer and visionary. All these words can describe Dr. Fleming but here is the real deal. As a veteran of the United States Navy she holds several degrees, and is a business professional. A native of Chicago, Illinois, her journey began through the segregation of the Chicago Public School System and Chicago s corrupt political structure. Dr. Fleming has many credentials, but the most outstanding of them all is that she is a child of God and not afraid to admit it. She is an ordained Minister at COPIM serving God under the leadership of Bishop Craig W. Johnson. At an early age Dr. Denise Fleming was positioned by God for purpose. Her historical witness of injustice, unfair practices and political corruption was surely in preparation "for such a time as this" Esther 4:14. Her early involvement in the church and community was to bring her into this season. In the book of Ecclesiastes 3:1KJV, it says "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. This is the time to step out into the deep. According to Dr. Fleming, "There have been some difficult decisions that have had to be made...and it has not been easy...but GOD has always brought me through." She places her trust in God and always seeks Him first "then I do what He tells me to do." This is not her first time running for office. In 2016 she ran for mayor and almost won but due to her opponents tremendous financial backing and skewed political influences the position was given to her opponent. Dr. Fleming s platform coincides with her character. She is a woman of faith and vision. Faith moves forward it doesn't look back. On her website fleming4morenovalleymayor.com, she makes the following statements regarding her campaign: It s not about where we ve been, it s about where we are going. I will always fight for our City s fiscal health and welfare. I will send a clear message that our city welcomes new 21st century businesses. It s time to build up our city with good governance, traditional city values, and form partnerships with our local school districts. It s time to develop more relationships with our sister cities and start our own local programs, festivals, events and activities." Dr. Fleming wants to bring Moreno Valley back to its fullest capacity economically & politically by restoring Integrity in its political structure. Before we concluded the interview Dr. Fleming shared "When I ran for the position of a regular School Board Member...it wasn't because there was anything in it for me but because it was where God wanted me to be... and now the graduation rate has increased, before I came into office...it went from 60 percent to 90 percent." Dr. Denise Fleming is currently the Vice President of the Moreno Valley Unified School Board. Dr. Fleming is truly an excellent example of leadership in action. You never know how God is going to use you to make a difference in the lives of others.

The Praise Report Page 6 Cathedral of Praise International Ministries F.A.N.S Day Members of COPIM responded enthusiastically to Bishop Johnson's request to invite FANS (i.e., family, friends, acquaintances, neighbors or seekers) to FANS Sunday. People of various ethnic backgrounds attended the 8:00 and 11:00 am services. Bishop bought a prophetic message from Acts 12:16 entitled: What You Have Been Waiting for is at the Door. Mr. and Mrs. Green commented that "This service was a Blessing." Audrey & Aniayah Brock Charlene Gross and Family Tiki Sumner, California & Dominican Republic guests Pastor & Mrs Cue Mr.&Mrs. Ryan, Mr.&Mrs Green & guests Charlene Gross and her brother Jerome came on their own along with other members of their family. According to Ms. Gross, "I enjoyed this service and I will be back." Pastor Cue & brother People fom all over Mother Dixon & family Guests of Clara Carr Adults and children felt the power of the Holy Spirit move mightily giving them hope and assurance. Bishop challenged the members to go beyond themselves and invite people to come to visit our church. The result and blessing is people were prayed for and received Christ as their Savior. Bishop Johnson congratulated Pastor Cue and his wife at the end of the 8:00 am service. Pastor Cue and his wife had 15 guests including Pastor Cue s brother, Mr. Michael Hewitt who was in agreement with another guest (Aniayah Brock) who stated "that Word was Powerful!" At the end of the 11:00 am service, Bishop congratulated Ms. Clara Carr (from the Greeter's Ministry) whose guests were from Alhambra, Pasadena and Santa Clarita. She said that she was especially happy to see her brother and his wife there from Santa Clarita. More than 100 FANS came out from across the nation. One of our very own (Minister Beverly Green from Charlottesville, VA) was in attendance at the 11:00 am service. Mother Dennis brought her daughter and family who came all the way from Pensacola, Florida, and Dr. Mary and Mike Ryan invited her sister and other relatives and friends. Ms. Vita Dixon stated that she thoroughly enjoyed the service and member Tiki Sumner had visitors from various cities in California and one of her visitors came from as far as The Dominican Republic. We would like to thank all who went forth in Faith & Obedience to the Word as stated in Luke 14:23 ( KJV), And the Lord said unto the servant, Go into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

The Praise Report Page 7 In Loving Memory, They Will Be Missed CATHEDRAL OF PRAISE INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NKJV) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. Mother Sadie Johnson Mother Johnson, named, "Mother #3" by Bishop Johnson, transitioned August 16, 2018 after suffering health challenges. She actively served with the mother's of COPIM and often passed out hand crafted book marker to those she spoke to. Mother Sadie pursued a nursing career after graduating high school. Her entrepreneurial experiences included owning Johnson's Guest Home and Pieces of Manna, a family restaurant known as Tillman's Kitchen. Mother Sadie published two books: "Cadillac Square" and "God, Let Me Be Dreaming." Mother Sadie Johnson will be missed at COPIM N. Del Rosa Ave. San Bernardino CA, Phone: Fax: info@copim.org Elder Gitana Scott We re on the web at Our hearts were saddened at the passing of our faithful members, Elder Gitana Scott and Mother Sadie Johnson. Elder Gitana Scott joined COPIM in 2005 and served as an elder for many years. She was also the leader of various ministries, including Mother's Ministry, Women's Ministry, Prayer Ministry, and Visitation. As a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, she participated in Issachar's Mantel, Bishop's Circle, Vision of the House, and Vacation Bible School. Elder Gitana was ordained by Bishop on October 6, On several occasions, she was called upon to preach at 11:00 am or 8:00 am. Elder Scott loved her pastor and loved the people of COPIM. Elder Scott transitioned to her heavenly home on August 26, 2018 after a private prayer service with our bishop. Her radiant smile and hilarious laugh will be missed.
