Reverend Monsignor Joseph R. Traflet, J.D. 88, S.T.D., Associate Dean; Assistant Professor of Pastoral Theology; and Founder and Co-Director, Institute for Christian Spirituality, served as master of ceremonies. Presentations included the following: o Pope Benedict XVI: A Theological Appreciation. By Reverend Thomas G. Guarino, K.H.S., S.T.D., Professor of Systematic Theology. o Pope Benedict and the Interior Life. By Jeffrey L. Morrow, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Undergraduate Theology. o Pope Benedict: Leading Us to Jesus. By Reverend Pablo T. Gadenz, S.S.L., S.T.D., Associate Professor of Biblical Studies. The Institute for Christian Spirituality presented a Beholding the Face of God workshop for the Diocese of Camden s Office of Lifelong Faith Formation Lay Ministry Formation, at St. Pius X Spiritual Life Center, Blackwood, NJ, on April 27, Among the featured speakers was Stephen B. Kass, M.N.E., M.A. 09, Coordinator of Marketing and Development, Institute for Christian Spirituality; Coordinator of Seminary s Theological Education for Parish Services (STEPS), Institute for Christian Spirituality; Director of the Catholic Center for Family Spirituality, Institute for Christian Spirituality; and Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Theology, whose presentation was titled Beholding the Face of God in the Mirror.

Carr, M.A. 07, Coordinator of Graduate and International Services; Coordinator, Center for Prayerfully Speaking, Institute for Christian Spirituality; and Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Theology, represented Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology on the Seton Hall University committee to select the winners of the 2013 Student Servant Leader Awards, from January-March Reverend John J. Chadwick, S.T.D., Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology: o As Director of RCIA for the Archdiocese of Newark, offered RCIA Rites and Records: The Practical Stuff. Presentation to all parish-level RCIA coordinators, reviewing and demonstrating the rituals of the RCIA process. In addition, Father Chadwick provided an information session on keeping sacramental records. This presentation was held at the Archdiocesan Center, Newark, NJ, on January 24, o Offered a presentation on the Eucharist to parents of children about to receive the Sacrament for the first time. Father Chadwick discussed basic tenets of the faith regarding the Eucharist, including True Presence and Sacrifice, as well as the spirituality of encountering Christ in His Body and Blood. This presentation was held at Immaculate Conception Parish, Montclair, NJ, on February 3, Reverend Lawrence B. Porter, K.H.S., Ph.D., Professor of Systematic Theology and Director of the Seminary Library: o Delivered the invocation at Seton Hall University s Annual Research Day Luncheon honoring faculty who have made significant contributions in scholarly research and publication, at Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ, on February 11, o Delivered the homily at Mass of thanksgiving for the ministry of Pope Benedict XVI, at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Newark, NJ, on March 3, 2013.

Rice, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Philosophical Theology, delivered a Saturday pastoral formation presentation based on Pope John Paul II s book Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology of the Body for deacon candidates and their wives in the Diocese of Paterson, at St. Paul Inside the Walls: The Catholic Center for Evangelization at Bayley- Ellard, Madison, NJ, on March 2, Justin M. Anderson, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Christian Ethics, presented the following lectures to the contemplative branch of the Missionaries of Charity, Plainfield, NJ: o The Theological Virtue of Faith. On March 12, o The Theological Virtue of Hope. On April 23, Reverend Monsignor Joseph R. Reilly, S.T.L., Ph.D., Rector and Dean, celebrated a Mass in honor of the Feast of St. Patrick, at Seton Hall University s Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, South Orange, NJ, on March 16, Participants in the Mass included members of the Seton Hall University contingent preparing for the University s inaugural march in the New York City St. Patrick s Day Parade that afternoon. The Mass and parade contingent were organized by Seton Hall University s Irish cultural society, Pirates of Irish Persuasion & Extraction (PIPE), in collaboration with Seton Hall University s departments of Public Relations and Marketing, University Events and Alumni Relations.
