HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated on the 2 nd and 4 th Sundays in the confidence of receiving from the Lord of the Church all He promises when he gives His body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you commune with us, we ask that you be in confessional agreement with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and that the following be your sincere conviction: I believe that I am a sinful human being without hope of eternal life except for God s mercy in Christ. I believe that Jesus is God s Son, my personal Savior, and together with the bread and wine I receive the true Body and Blood of Christ. I dedicate myself anew to the Lord through regular worship, the study of His Word, faithful witness, fervent prayer and loving service. [Non-alcoholic drink is offered in the middle section of each tray for those who are unable to partake of the wine. Gluten-free communion wafers are available. Notify the pastor at the communion rail that you desire a gluten-free host.] OUR NURSERY is located in the lower level of the north basement. The service is broadcast through closed circuit TV. HEARING DEVICES are available on the west wall next to the steps to the balcony. FIRST AID KITS are located in the usher s closet, family room, church kitchen and the Sunday School room with piano. The Word of the Lord both shows us our sin and shows us our Savior. In honesty, we lay our lives before our God. We confess our sin. Let us humbly admit our sins to God and to one another. C: Lord God, You are holy and dwell in majesty and might. I cannot come into Your presence without Your mercy s invitation and Your Son s mighty work of redemption. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he will come to judge the living and the dead. As a servant to others, Christ showed God s goodness. His purpose in coming to earth was to serve, the ultimate act of service being His work on the cross. In contrast, we by nature are self-focused. By grace, through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, we can become servants. Jesus wants us to be His hands, feet and mouth in service to others. Orders with Hope Heroes, a peer-based grief support group for adults and children who have experienced a death of a loved one, will meet on Sundays for 9 weeks beginning September 23 rd at 4:00 pm here at Emmanuel. Children and teens will be grouped by ages 5-7; 8-11, Middle school and High School. There is no charge for this program. Pick up a copy of the September/October Nebraska District Reporter for your household to stay informed up with the events in our area. Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will be at Concordia, Seward, to meet with students interested becoming a pastor or deaconess on September 26, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and September 27, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. Appointments are not necessary, but encouraged. To schedule a specific time, call Rev. Scott Holder at Camp Luther Annual Meeting will be September 30, at 4:00 pm at Gerwick Lodge, with a meal to follow.
