I don t have all the answers on that one but there is something I do know: I can guarantee that all who have the privilege of coming in contact with the Lord Jesus Christ will never be the same again. In verse four Jesus says "This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it." Lazarus did die and that death (the usual result of serious illness) will lead to resurrection, but more importantly it will lead to the glorification of Jesus Christ. What does that mean? Well I m glad you asked? Whatever way God intervenes in the life of people is so that His Son will be recognized as the Son of God who takes away the sins of the world and saves people from eternal damnation. If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, you can do so, right now, right where you are, by placing faith alone in Christ alone. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. (Joh 3:36). This is your opportunity. 2 Amos: The riding prophet from the South An allegory based on the Old Testament book of Amos. By Rodney J. Osborne (An allegory is a literary device or as rhetorical device that conveys hidden meanings through symbolic figures, actions, imagery, and/or events, which together create the moral, spiritual, or political meaning the author wishes to convey.) Part 2 (2:6-16) The Lord says to you the inhabitants of the northern city, For three of My laws and now for a fourth, that you have broken... Amos may have provided a summary of the wrongs done by the surrounding cities, but here he is about to expose in detail that which this city has done. (6) When those in need came for help, you responded quickly by rubbing their faces in the dirt. You threw them out and treated them like scum. Some you sold-out and betrayed. Even if all they owed was as little as the cost of a pair of flipflops, you sold them as slaves so you could collect on that measly debt. When the poor came you refused to give them the same rights as the wealthy, discriminated against them and treated them in an undignified manner. I do believe that God heals today, and I also believe He can choose not to heal whether that be now, or in the future. That is because He is Sovereign and He can do whatever He wants as long as it does not contradict His essence. I m OK with the healing bit. What I don t get is why you and it seems many, others keep saying He heals everyone when you can see right in front of you that it isn t happening? C1: Hey, that s an easy one. The Word of God is true and God will not fail, so if you haven t received healing, it must be something to do with you. Maybe it is due to your lack of faith. C2: Thanks for that friend. You do realize you just sounded like one of Job s useless friends don t you? In a way, it s kind of a compliment. You see Thomas was lacking in faith and Jesus helped his unbelief (Mark 9:24). Jesus also said that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we can move mountains (Matt 17:20). Thank you for such a compliment. My lack of faith makes me a good candidate to seeing great things happen and particularly to receive the healing grace (unmerited) of God. But Maybe it is due to your lack of faith. you still have not answered my question why is it that all who come in contact with Jesus don t get healed like you claim? C1: Uhmmm, let me think. I know, It can only be one thing then you must have sin in your life. A sin you have kept secret, or are indulging in. Maybe that sin is why you are sick! C2: Now I know what my Bible teacher meant when he said Christians can be the cruelest of human beings at times. It is true though I have sin in my life. So does every Christian, and dare I say so do you. All have sinned (Rom 3:23) and will continue to sin whilst in Christian Biker 2.9 Page 11

Bible Study A Dialogue on healing Some Christians are renowned for making sweeping generalized statements, one of which this article identifies. I have written it as a potential conversation might go.

The point to be made has nothing to do with healing, but more to do with the dangers of making sweeping statements which (unintentionally) misrepresent the proclamation of the Word of God.

It could take an infinite number of directions as can most conversations, but I can t possibly cover them all, particularly on a topic like this. The point to be made has nothing to do with healing, but more to do with the dangers of making sweeping statements which (unintentionally) misrepresent the proclamation of the Word of God. It is my hope that readers will come away from this article, not with the expression of opinions on healing, but a desire to study the Word of God even further. How come people, who happen to have been in contact (Christians) with Jesus are still sick? If that is what you are trying to tell me, you might be interested to know that the bible also says that believers will do even greater works than Jesus did while he was here (Jn 14:12). If Jesus healed all he came in contact with, what greater things can we who believe expect? You made people pay fines, sometimes calling it a tithe or an offering by telling the vulnerable that in order to prosper, they had to give all they had, even that which they needed for they own sustenance and warmth. You then took what they needed themselves and enjoyed it for yourself, using some of it to pay for the entertainment of someone else s wife. (7-8) Anyone here who has any power or authority, has it only because God has given it. And what have you done with that power? You have abused it and used it for your own ill-gotten gain. It s a bit late to tell you what you should have done. The horse has bolted. Is it hard for you to hear this? It should be! The perpetrators are your leaders, the laws you break are God s laws, yet you treat Him with contempt, and possibly worst of all, you do these unspeakable things right here in church. If that isn t bad enough, I would remind you of the Grace God has already shown you and this is what you do to reciprocate. Take the destruction of the previous occupants of this land, the Amorites. You remember them. They were the giants in the land that you had no hope of defeating, yet God totally decimated them so you could live here. Clearly, this act of grace was not sufficient for you. Even all this has not been enough for you. So, God has gone even further and provided prophets, judges and other types of spiritual leaders to guide you, but you rejected them all. You have rejected the spiritual leaders God provided. You corrupted the judges, muzzled the prophets and drugged the spiritual leaders. You have considered yourselves in charge instead of God and silenced anyone that spoke contrary to your opinions. (9-12) What you have done is like overloading your bike. The consequences of your law breaking has overloaded your soul. It will slow you down and even cause you to get bogged. Your motor will be under too much load and eventually blow up. If the bog doesn t get you and your motor happens to hold out, the load of your guilt will cause a shift in weight resulting in a fatal crash. Even those who happen to survive this and have the biggest bikes will run away from the coming catastrophe with nothing to protect themselves with. (13-16) What is this catastrophe that will come? Tip: Fix that rusty tank Not everyone has a fuel tank full of rust, but my project bike did. I guess it is to be expected. About half 500mls of old fuel has been sitting in the tank for about nine years. After using some WD-40 on the cap I was able to free up the lock. I also discovered some bubbled paint which I sanded away. This revealed a small hole from the rust. I also removed the fuel gauge and could see just what condition the tank was in. It looked like rusty colored barnacles. What a mess. After some research on the internet, I came up with a few ways of cleaning it. I wanted to use as few chemicals as I could so that it wouldn t kill the grass in the backyard (have to look after the environment). I decided to use vinegar, (2ltr) caustic soda (1cup) and citric acid (1cup). I then made a wheel gizmo from an old chair to strap the tank to. Before strapping the tank to the wheel, I sealed up the tank and put my cleaning mixture in, swished it around for a while and emptied out the fluid (2x). Using more of the cleaning mixture in the tank and adding about ten nuts and bolts I spent about 15 minutes rotating the tank. Letting it sit for about an hour, and then repeating it throughout the day (6-8 times). After a thorough rinsing and counting the nuts and bolts to make sure I got them all out, I then checked the internal pipes for blocks and cleanliness. Yep, as suspected, they were blocked. After trying a few things to clear the blocks the thing that finally worked was a soaking with drain cleaner and a push (or a hundred) with some whipper-snipper cord. That s how I cleaned the tank.
