3 Foreword The first three gospel accounts (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) are often called "synoptics" because they give a synopsis of the life of Jesus. The chronology of these three accounts is not identical, but they do follow, generally, the same order of events. The gospel of John, however, is a "supplemental account of Jesus' life and teachings. Much of what John records is not found in any of the other three accounts of Jesus' life. As we always say, you will get out of this study in accordance with how much you put into it. We are still using the TRUE or FALSE format hoping everyone will answer the true or false question while prayerfully hope many will answer the follow-up questions. Either way, you will get something out of each lesson. Prepare your lessons prayerfully and be prepared to participate when you come to class. This material has been prepared under the supervision of our elders and is considered by them to be what is most needed at this particular time.
