We are weighed down, we are tired, and yet we re worried we have not done enough. So we ask, What does the Lord require of us? With what shall I come before the Lord? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Should I empty my house and bring all of my money? Would that be enough? No. The Lord has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you? To do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God. God, We come again to you...again...to confess our shortcomings and unfaithfulness the ways we have expected other people and things to give us what only you can give. Hear us, and show us your way to abundant life and freedom. Amen. We confess: We chase achievement, acceptance, and approval in order to know we re okay. We seek fulfi llment in what we do, but our hard work often leaves us empty. We strive to check all the boxes and appear put together, but we can t keep up, and it leaves us exhausted. God, our way is crushing us. We want to be free from it. We want to follow you instead. We have believed the lies of the world that our work can fulfi ll us, that what we own will make us lovable, that getting it right will make us enough. But God who is rich in mercy, out of great love, with which he loved us even when we were dead through our sins, made us alive together with Christ. By the grace of God, + your sins are forgiven.
