2 Welcome to Upper Arlington Lutheran Church! We re glad you re here! Music About the Service Worship is an interactive, participatory experience. We invite you to join in as we praise God through singing by following the on-screen lyrics. Offering Sermon Prayer We give tithes and offerings as an act of worship, obedience, celebration, and thanksgiving to the Lord. You can give during the service or anytime via our website. You can also give using your smart phone. If you are a guest, you are not expected or obligated to give. We believe that the Word of God is the power of God and that Jesus comes to His people through His Word. Feel free to take notes using the space provided in this guide. During the gathering today, members of our prayer team will be available. They are willing to pray with you in response to what God is saying or because you re just having one of those kinds of days. Feel free to seek one of them out. They re wearing tags that say Prayer Ministry. Coming Communion up this month: We gladly invite all who believe in Jesus and seek His forgiveness to come forward and participate. We believe Communion is what Jesus said it is: His body and blood given in the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. Next Steps Let us know you re here by filling out your information in the Know Your Row pad. This helps us know you were here and helps us connect you with ministries you might be interested in. Visit us on the web. You can find staff contact information, learn more about UALC, listen to past sermons, find daily Scripture reading plans and much more! Get plugged into UALC by visiting the Connect Center! Take a next step on your journey with Christ or in connecting with UALC. We would love to talk with you.

3 Parent Guide Here are some ideas to help your kids worship this morning: Consider a seat in the front. We know it s a little scarier, but when kids can see all that is happening, they are better able to join in! Whisper a lot. It s OK. We promise. As the service goes on, explain what is happening, and preview what is next so that your kid can join in. Sing and pray! You are your child s greatest teacher. As you participate in the service, they ll be excited to participate as well. Stick around. If your child needs to step out of the service for a moment, that s OK. But we don t mind some giggling or rustling papers. Jesus said, Let the children come to me. We think he was on to something. Come back. We are intentionally setting aside Easter as experiences for all ages to worship together. But starting April 23, we ll resume our dynamic Kids Church experiences for children age three through 5th grade. There is always a place for your kids at Kids Church. During Kids Church they will learn the Bible and engage their faith in a way that is designed specifically for them! Sundays, LR 10:30 am and MR 9:00 & 10:30 am. Relax. Enjoy. Be Refreshed. Parenting is tough. We get it! Most of the leaders you see around here are parents too. Rather than Sunday being another place where you feel like you have to be perfect, or have the perfect kids, we want to invite you to be rejuvenated by your experience this morning. Let your kids be kids, and let yourself experience again the love of your Father in heaven.

4 Today s Reading & Preachers: Today s Scripture: On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again. Then they remembered his words. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened. 8 No Fair! Next Sunday, we begin a new series called No Fair! One of the first lessons of social interaction we learn as children is that things don t always seem fair. Sometimes our brother gets a bigger scoop of ice cream, or a friend gets a longer turn on the swing. As adults, maybe we feel the boss passed us over for a promotion or raise. The gospel of Christ is not merely personal, but social. Followers of Christ are called to model the kind of selfless love that Jesus exemplifies, even when people seem utterly undeserving of it. The amazing grace we so joyfully sing about for ourselves is not so easy to swallow when we watch someone else receive it, but this is the heart of Christian community. As we grow in Christ, we learn to love like Christ, even when it s not fair. This series focuses on four passages from Matthew s Gospel that challenge our notions about church life, forgiveness, grace, and healing. Sermon Series: How to Fight Like a Christian (Matthew 18:15-20) Guest speakers from the North American Lutheran Church (NALC) including: Rev. John Bradosky, Bishop Rev. Mark Chavez, General Secretary Rev. Dr. Gemechis Buba, Assistant to the Bishop for Missions Rev. Dr. Scott Ness, NALC Pastor and Missionary The Math of Forgiveness (Matthew 18:21-35) Rev. David Mann, Pastor for Missions & Internationals A Fair Wage (Matthew 20:1-16) Rev. Brodie Taphorn, Pastor for Ministry Operations They Got Healed, Why Not Me? (Matthew 20:29-34) Rev.
