AUGUST WEDDINGS Congratulations to Filip Mielczak & Naz Durakoglu who were married on Friday, August 17 th and to Justin Boy & Christine O Donnell who were married on Saturday, August 18 th. Both weddings were celebrated by Fr. Dennis Grumsey at St. Casimir Church. Our best wishes to the newly married couples. PARISH REGISTRATION We strongly encourage those who participate regularly in the life of our Faith Community to register with us and to use the envelopes. For those who wish to make St. Casimir their parish family with future plans to celebrate a baptism, a wedding or obtain a letter to be a godparent or sponsor, it is necessary to be formally registered and actively participating on a regular basis for at least three months before dates can be set or letters can be written. Registration forms can be found in the vestibule of the Church, at the parish office or printed from our website, E-GIVING DONATIONS Help us keep our budget on track by setting up recurring donations through your e-giving account. Your generosity is a blessing to our church. Your continued support allows us to help our church family. Go to our website and click on the e-giving icon. It will take you to our e-giving page and you can sign up to have recurring donations made weekly, biweekly or monthly. You can also make one time donations. CHILDREN S LITURGY OF THE WORD Mark your calendar for the first date for Children s Liturgy of the Word on Sunday, September 16 th at the 10:00 AM Mass in the Children s Corner in the Church. Children s Liturgy will be held on the first and third Sunday of the month. We will tell the Gospel story, discuss and do an activity or craft about the story. Come early so that you do not miss anything.

Donate your gently used men & women clothing of all sizes for both Homeless Male & Female Veterans. It can be winter or summer, professional clothing, suits, dresses, shirts, coats, shoes, purses, etc. Also in need of NEW female under garments of all sizes. Any personal toiletry items are also accepted. The drop off dates are Saturday, September 8 & 15 from Noon to 3:00 PM in the St. Anthony Hall. ANNUAL CRAB FEAST St. Casimir Holy Name Society presents their Annual Crab Feast on Sunday, September 30 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Plenty of scrumptious food, beer, soda & much more. Live music by local musicians and plenty of available parking at Captain James Crab House. Parties of 8 or more may reserve a table. ASSISI HOUSE DONATIONS The Assisi House, a social Service Community Outreach Program, is in need of woman s clothing and infant s and children s items for the poor in the neighborhood who come to them for help. They also need non perishable food for the families. Place donations in the blue bins in the back of the Church.
4 NON-SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM For Children in Grades K, 1,3,4,5,6,7,8 If you are a member of St. Brigid, St. Casimir or St. Elizabeth s Parish and have a child who will be in Grades K through 8 (with the exception of Grade 2 sacramental program) in September of 2018, not attending a Catholic School, it is time to register them for the Religious Education Program. The program will be held at St. Casimir s School. An important parent meeting will be held in September 16 at 11:00 AM. Registration forms may be obtained by calling Molly Hubbard at It is important that your child attend these classes, and necessary if you wish them to celebrate their First Eucharist in 2 nd grade and the Sacrament of Confirmation in 8 th or 9 th grade. This program will teach them about their faith and help them form a relationship with the Lord. SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM FOR PREPARATION TO CELEBRATE 1 ST PENANCE AND 1 ST COMMUNION For Baptized Children in Grade 2 or above If you are a member of St. Brigid, St. Casimir or St. Elizabeth parish and have a child entering 2 nd grade or above, the classes for preparation for celebration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Confession) and 1 st Holy Communion will begin in September, and will be held at the Cupertino Center at St. Casimir. An important parent meeting will take place on September 16 at 9:00 AM in the Cupertino Center. If you have not received a registration form, we ask that you call Molly Hubbard at to register and to have any questions you may have answered. Requirements for this program are:! The student must be baptized.! Be 7 years of age or older! Be in the 2 nd grade or a higher grade! Have attended a Catholic School or a Religious Education Program the previous year. SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION Youth in grades 8 through 12 as of September, 2018 are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Spring of Classes will begin in September 16 th following the 10:00 AM Mass in the Cupertino Center. Classes are held once a month through April. Those registered parishioners who have teens who are eligible will be contacted. Class will be held on Sunday, October 21 following the 10:00 AM Mass in the Church. Current registered members of the Faith Community who are interested in having their children baptized should call the parish office early to make arrangements. Upcoming Dates:. Baptism - November 18, 2018 at 11:30 AM; Class - November 11. ARE YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW INTERESTED IN THE CATHOLIC FAITH? In September, St. Casimir Parish will begin a new journey in faith to share the richness of the Catholic Church and our parish family. This process is known as the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). We invite you to learn what the Church teaches, and be introduced to some of our parish members. These sessions are also opportunities for you, and others that you may wish to invite, to ask questions that you may have about the Church. These gatherings are for inquirers and are open to adults who have not yet celebrated the sacrament of baptism, baptized Christians who wish to explore entering into full communion with the Catholic Church, baptized Catholics who have not celebrated first communion and/or confirmation, and Catholics who would like to update themselves about their faith. 5 "GIVE OF YOUR HANDS TO SERVE AND YOUR HEARTS TO LOVE" ~ Mother Teresa You can do just that when helping to serve St. Vincent depaul's Beans and Bread. Beans and Bread, located at 402 South Bond Street, provides a daily meal for those in need. Parishioners of St. Casimir's help in the kitchen and serve a luncheon meal the last Saturday of each month. We are always in need of volunteers; if interested please contact Pam, our Volunteer Coordinator, at pamelapro@aol.com. COOKING FOR CHRISTOPHER PLACE Join us on Sunday, September 9 for Cooking for Christopher Place and Children s House at St. Casimir in the Kolbe Center. Once a month we prepare meals for about 125 people with a small portion going to the Children s House. The preparations are usually completed by noon. Contact Alix Garnier at MEALS THAT HEAL PROGRAM The Pastoral Care Committee is starting a ministry called the Meals that Heal program. This program provides meals to parishioners who are experiencing health crisis' in their lives, and are in need of temporary assistance with meals. The program will be run by parishioners that provide meals twice a week. Since this is a new program, we are seeking volunteer cookers to cook once per month for parishioners in the need of this service. THE TASTE PROGRAM FOR WOMEN Looking for a way to grow closer to God and learn more about your faith? You re invited to join women from 60+ parishes every Thursday morning. Come relax and be fed! The Taste Program (Taste And See Take.. Eat) is a Catholic Women s Program dedicated to bringing women closer to Jesus and the Church He founded. Called to Care can provide assistance with transportation, meal delivery, support groups and other selective services. For information, please call Maggie McAndrew, Pastoral Care member, at MY SISTER S PLACE WOMEN CENTER The next volunteer event at My Sister's Place will be held on Sunday, September 9th. My Sister's Place is a women's center that provides many services including a soup kitchen. The St. Casimir volunteers serve a meal in the soup kitchen from 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM.
