About Our Gathered Worship Expository Preaching: Our normal practice is to preach expositionally through Scripture, where the main point of the passage preached is the main point of the sermon. Pastoral Prayer: As a church, we worship God by bringing our requests to him and seeking his aid. Thus, you will find us praying not only for our own congregation, but also Christians, churches, cities, and countries across the globe. KidsPointe: We love for families to worship together at High Pointe! In the morning, we also offer gospel-centered teaching time for children K-4th grade. If your child(ren) will be attending KidsPointe for the first time, please accompany them to the East Training Room (upstairs) to drop them off and provide your contact information. Families with Children: If you need to leave the service with your children, we offer a Family Overflow Room with a live feed, located near the nursery. 4 All Praise To Him Who Can Participate In The Lord s Supper? The Lord s Supper, an ordinance given by Jesus to his church (Matt. 26:26-29; Mk. 14:22-25; Lk. 22:14-23; 1 Cor. 11:23-26), is a visual reminder of His work on our behalf (1 Cor. 11:24-25). Additionally, the Lord s Supper helps us look forward to the second coming of Christ when we, His people, will feast with him forever (1 Cor. 11:26; Rev. 19:6-9). Since the Bible gives strong warning against partaking the Lord s Supper in an unworthy manner (1 Cor. 11:27), it is important to spend time examining ourselves before participating (1 Cor. 11:28-29). So then, who may participate in the Lord s Supper? Baptized Christians: The Lord s Supper is only meant for those who have repented of their sins and placed their trust in Christ alone and His work on their behalf (Rom. 5:1; 1 Thess. 1:9-10) When we come to faith in Christ, we are commanded to declare our allegiance to Christ publicly in baptism (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:38). So then, baptism is the first step of obedience for a new believer. Therefore, in order to partake of the Lord s Supper, it is vital that you obey Christ s command to be baptized. If you have more questions on what it means to be a Christian, please contact one of the pastors or reach out to a church member of High Pointe Baptist Church. Repentant Christians: Christians living in on-going, unrepentant sin are warned not to partake of the Lord s Supper, lest they fall under Christ s judgment (1 Cor. 11:27-29; Heb. 3:12). If you are in ongoing sin and disobedience, we urge you to confess your sin(s) and repent (turn away from your sin) and embrace the forgiveness Christ offers (1 John 1:9). If you have sinned against someone else, we encourage you to reconcile with them before receiving the Lord s Supper (Matt. 5:21-26). If you have confessed your sin(s), sought to reconcile to the best of your ability with those you ve sinned against, and received Christ s forgiveness by faith, we encourage you to celebrate the Lord s Supper with us today. 3 CCLI Song # Bob Kauflin Matt Merker Christians in Right Standing with their Local Church: Whether you re a member of High Pointe or another local church, we invite you to receive the Lord s Supper with a clear conscience as repentant Christians who have declared their allegiance with Christ publicly through baptism. However, if you are under church discipline by High Pointe or another local church, then we ask you to abstain from the Lord s Supper until you are able to reconcile with your brothers and sisters in Christ (Matt. 18:15-20; 1 Cor. 5). If you are not a member of a gospel church, we invite you to become a member of High Pointe. If not, we urge you to find another local church that you can be a part of.
