(Romans 14.12) BIBLE READING: Romans 7: 1-25 TOPIC: A Better Covenant TEXT: Hebrews 8: 6-8 In the Old Testament times, God had established a covenant (i.e. a binding agreement) with the people of Israel, which detailed certain requirements that they needed to fulfill in order to fully enjoy its provisions. This old covenant through Moses has a high priest to continually intercede before God on behalf of the people and sacrifice animals to atone for their sins. According to the Bible, something was not quite right with the workability of the old covenant. Therefore, in His infinite wisdom and at the perfect time, God set aside the old and established a new covenant through the blood of Jesus, the sinless Son of God, for the atonement of the sins of all men forever. Jesus became the mediator, the High Priest and the sacrificial lamb for the new covenant. The new covenant allowed the Holy Spirit indwell and empower the believer to live right with God from within rather than a Note lifeless and outward fulfillment of laws devoid of true relationship with God. In today's outline, we shall be discussing further to understand the superiority of the new covenant over the old. 1. In your personal opinion, what was wrong with the old covenant that made it necessary for God to establish a new covenant? Discuss 2. Whatever limited the old covenant has been fully addressed by the establishment of the new covenant. More than anything else, with the new covenant, God has gone beyond just Israel to have relationship with believers in Christ from all races in the world. The new covenant is better than the old covenant in the following ways: a) Better mediator: Jesus our High Priest lives forever to intercede for us before the Father. Heb. 8:6, John 1:17 b) Better Blood Sacrifice: The sinless blood of Jesus cleanses from sin once and forever and gives us absolute victory over the enemy. Heb. 12:24, Rev 12:11 c) Better Promises: Exceedingly great and precious, giving to us all things that pertain to life and Godliness 2 Pet 1:2-4, 1 Cor. 3:7-9,1 Cor. 2:9-11 The new covenant is the promise that God makes with humanity that He will forgive sin and restore fellowship with those whose hearts are turned toward Him. Jesus Christ is the mediator of the new covenant, and His death on the Cross is the basis of the promise (Luke 22:20). You need to live in the consciousness of this new covenant to live a life of an overcomer. You will soar higher in Jesus Name. Word for the Week Col 1:27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

This week we are going to continue on the importance of the blood. When we become children of God we have entered into an agreement with God and Jesus which is known as a Covenant. A covenant is an agreement between two people, which says, you keep your part and I keep mine. If you fail in yours or I fail in mine, then there is a problem. So, it is important to keep your part of the agreement. KIDDIES TALK BACK As children of God, your part of the agreement is to: 1. read your Bible always. 2. Be Obedient to the word of God, to your parents, teachers and those who rule over you 3. Pray to God for yourselves and others. 4. always do good and to share with others. MEMORY VERSE - Hebrews 8:10(New International Version) "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel: After those days," says the Lord, "I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. ACTIVITY - Think of something that seem to be a problem, maybe in the home, at school, along the road, in your neighborhood or country, how do you think you can solve the problem?

3 TEENAGERS HOME FELLOWSHIP OUTLINE TOPIC: A Better Privilege TEXT: Hebrews 8:6-8 Being in union with God gives us great advantage in life. We are better positioned in an environment where we enjoy unique and amazing benefits specially, as children of God. Our capacity for thinking and action surpasses that of the ordinary person because we are strengthened and motivated from our inner being through Christ who lives in and through us. We have direct access to God to hear Him and know what to do. Our outline today emphasizes the unique blessings we enjoy being born into the family of God. (1) What are the benefits you derive from being a child of God? A believer has direct access to God without going through any person. This is because Christ himself dwells in us through the Holy Spirit who speaks to us constantly. Listening and obeying the Holy Spirit gives us a better view of what God has in store for us as His children. When you do this, you keep soaring higher in Jesus name. 4 23rd - 27th Apr., 2018 BUSINESS HOME FELLOWSHIP TOPIC: A Better Contract TEXT: Heb 8: 6-8 A contract is a legally binding agreement between two or more parties and is enforceable by law. Contracts are executed in the business world all the time either by a business owner with various stakeholders or as an employee with the employer. In negotiating contracts, each party seeks to make sure the terms are to his or her advantage. Once done, they can leverage it and enjoy the benefits. In the same vein, as believers, we are in covenant with Christ and because Christ himself is the one that drafted and executed that contract/covenant by His blood, we know that the terms and benefits are in our favour. Jer. 29:11. Consequently, since we are a party to that covenant, our businesses and careers are also parties to that covenant. Therefore, in our business negotiations or careers, we ought to walk in the understanding that God is a not just a party to all our dealings but, He's the deal maker. Our part is to fulfill the terms of the contract by obedience to God's instructions even when competition or co-workers are taking contrary actions, knowing that God's way is bound to work better and yield better results since the power to make wealth comes from Him (Deut. 8:18). Our focus today will be to shed light on the benefits of this better contract/covenant so we can partake of the goodness and victories that flow from it. 1) Emeka Ajakaiye and Peter Yusuf joined Mindscope Enterprises on the same day and signed an employment contract on resumption. Peter observed that Emeka seemed to be getting more benefits from the company. Upon enquiry, he was told that the same benefits existed in his contract too. He took another look at his contract only to realize he had robbed himself out of ignorance. In view of the above, do you know what has been provided for in the new covenant for you and your business? How are you maximizing it? Discuss. 2) As Christian entrepreneurs in the marketplace, we are better positioned to enjoy maximum benefits of the better contract if we lean not on our own understanding but leverage the Holy Spirit to guide us into accessing the superior contract we have in Christ which offers the following; a) You have a mediator who transforms you from the inside and daily brings your career or business challenges before God to ensure you have victory. Heb. 8:6 b) The blood of Christ is better than that of lambs or any human being and has the power to deliver you from any system or institution that sets itself against your career or business. Heb. 12:24; Rev 12:11. c) You have a guarantee of success because you have better promises which include insight, wisdom, revelation etc. by the Holy Spirit. So, you know what to do per time. Rom 8:14; Heb. 8:10-11; 2 Cor 3:7-9; 1 Cor 2: Mention others. We must appropriate Christ's finished work through the blood covenant in our career or business. This covenant is better than the old and through it, Christ has won the victory over every challenge we may have once and for all. But remember ignorance will rob you of the benefits of this better Contract (Gal 4:1) therefore spend time in God's word to understand what you have so you can maximize it in your business and career. As you go about your business this week, trust God to grant you victories in all your endeavours. You will succeed in Jesus name.
