HOMELESS COMMUNITY OUTREACH UNDER THE NORTH BLVD. OVERPASS This past month our monthly homeless outreach had an attendance of approximately 90 guest, 25 volunteers, and 5 salvations! We thank you all for your support!. We had an amazing time of worship, a word delivered by Chris LeBurgeois, and great 1 to 1 fellowship!. People getting right with God, and sharing God s goodness towards them was indeed encouraging. A man, whose bedroom is under the same overpass we share the Word hands out water to those who thirst. He doesn't have much to give but the little he has, he shares. Why would he keep that water to himself. Knowing there are thirsty people out there in need of life giving drink? It s simple - he shares- just as we are called to share His Word which is a living spring of hope, life, and salvation. The Bible says: "But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst; Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. 2 T H A N K F U L! 225 church united BETHANY TRAVAIL HOUSE! Serving our GREAT city is how one of many SERVE 225 volunteers described this amazing day! It was truly a blessed day! One of those blessing was poured upon Travail House for Women and Children. Our home got long awaited repairs, and some upgrades. Our house was filled with several dedicated volunteer workers, some of whom stayed for nearly 12 hours! Each volunteer who came across our doors left his/her imprint on our home, from the kitchen all the way to front door. We are love our kitchen tiles, and extra space to move around! The shower light is 100% secure and built in the ceiling! Much brighter than before as well as our dining room light! It is amazing how much light brings into our lives! It drives out darkness and gloom; it is a reminder of Jesus BRIGHT presence in our lives! Some of our walls are not flaky anymore, the place stays cleaner and has a sharper look! The living room can now operate smoothly with a TV & AC on at the same time! The little things in life, that we count as granted make our lives so much easier! We are beyond grateful! Thanks SERVE 225!!!! You have initiated something!!! All this said, with the vast scope of help needed and provided, we desire to work with individuals like you, as well as businesses and organizations to help provide these needs. 3 T R A I N I N G & A C T I V I T I E S Domestic Violence & Rape Awareness Seminar with A Door of Hope Travail House attended A Door of Hope Awareness Seminar for Rape Crisis & Domestic Violence at Hearts Ease Family Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana Saturday, July 16th. Domestic violence and rape are sad truths many women and children and even men who have been victims. Domestic violence and rape include physical, sexual, psychological, and emotional abuse. The one constant component of domestic violence and rape are one partner s or strangers consistent efforts to maintain power and control over the other. There is nothing wanted about both of these forms of abuse: it is unwanted and it is all about power! We thank Ms. Kristen Maddox and Ms. Shona Butler for bringing awareness to these pervasive issues. It brought healing and understanding to our ladies to be part of this awareness seminar! The next training Travail House will be attending is: Abortion and Sexual Abuse. August 27th, Heart Ease Family Church. You are welcome to join us! Ladies Summer Bash A Tabitha s Lesson of Servanthood Ladies Summer Bash on July 27th, 2016 at Bethany Church South Campus was a blast! Ladies from all walks of life met together for an evening filled with fun, and the teaching of God s Word. Pastor Angie Stockstill thought about Tabitha. A less know Bible character but not the least important and one timeless in legacy! Tabitha s story serves as a transition in the fulfillment of Jesus command to his disciples to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8) It is the true portrayal of servanthood and one who was always doing good and helping the poor. (Acts 9:36) It is selfless love. Tabitha engaged the needs of her community. Her lifestyle showed that love is an active verb intent, on doing good for others. To love is to be : true love for our fellow man never ceases, and to be is a now verb that expands through our lives as each minute we live we are call to be a Light to the world. That means where we go, on our going and where we go! Fourth of July Independence Day Memories! We had a bountiful Independence Day celebration at Travail House. We spent quality time together celebrating with a barbecue in our backyard. We prayed for our nation and blessed the food. We had water games, and were blessed to see a nearly 30 minute firework show on the horizon! Celebrating our nation represents the core of our beliefs, the very makeup of our identity as citizens of the United States of America. July 4, 1776 a country was born; we ceased to belong to the British Empire and became a free and an independent State; founded on Christian principles! On those pillars principles we are endowed by our Creator - Our forefathers believed in the Creator and in a Supreme being having more than just a say? in how the government should be run. They knew without a doubt that God had intended men to be free. Thus the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness! It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 "3

4 S U C C E S S S T O R I E S SHARING LIVING WATER UNDER THE NORTH BLVD. OVERPASS Mr. Johny Williams is an example to us all. A middle aged man, stricken with prostate cancer and diabetes does not let infirmity take the best of him, nor define him as a person. He has a water ministry underneath the North Boulevard overpass. His blue cooler and determination provides life giving water to thirsty, hopeless people with whom he comes in contact. As soon as we found out about his calling; we started to provide him with water and ice. He is beyond thankful. Mr. Johny doesn't own very much, but he rejoices on providing his fellow friends and pass goers with something that brings life. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life. John 4:14 CHRISTIAN LIFE MAGAZINE AN EXCERPT.. Both definitions apply to Travail 6:33, whose staff and volunteers have literally saved lives and transformed darkness to light, sin to forgiveness, and despair to hope. Many women have credited Travail with turning their lives around. From Stephanie: Travail House saved my life, taught me about Jesus and how to forgive others. It allowed me to be a mom again. I have been reunited with my 8-year-old daughter, and by the grace of God, she loves me unconditionally. My life was completely hopeless and now I have unbelievable joy. From Jacqueline: I had been in and out of jail for the past 10 years. I was battling drug addiction, loneliness and prostitution. After I was accepted into the Travail program, I came to have a personal relationship with Christ and I now see myself as a beautiful, strong woman. I fall asleep speaking to Jesus and I wake up to Him each morning. We are deeply touched for all the hours you spent making our house a better place to live. We are enjoying the upgraded tile floor in our kitchen, and the extra space since the refrigerator has a new place to go. We surely appreciate the light fixtures in the shower and living room it is brighter! Also having our AC improved for the moment is helping us get by until an upgraded unit becomes available. Our living room socket, as little as that sounds makes it easier to watch TV and get some cool air! And thanks so much for making our front room walls look smoother: no more flaking! You are indeed dedicated servants and we truly appreciate each one you! May God bless you always!
