2 2 Redeemer Good News May 2017 REDEEMER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY Submitted by Linda Wiebold, School Administrator YOU'LL NEVER BE A PERFECT PARENT, BUT YOU CAN BE A PRAYING PARENT Prayer is our highest privilege as a parent, and as your child s teacher. There is nothing we can do that will have a higher return on investment. The dividends are eternal. Before you were even born, even named, many of you had parents and grandparents who prayed for you. At critical ages and stages, family and friends interceded on your behalf. The sum total of those prayers is your prayer legacy. I was blessed to be born into a Christian family. As a matter of fact, my grandparents and my aunt and uncle all attended the same church as my family and I. Fond memories of all of us filling up a pew still make me feel warm. As I was growing up, my mom and dad prayed for and with me. My sister and I spent a lot of time at my grandma and grandpa s house, where grandma would talk about God quite often with my sister and I, making Him very real to us. I know not everyone is fortunate enough to have inherited a prayer legacy from their family like I did, but you can leave a legacy for future generations. And it's the greatest legacy you can leave! You can pray circles around your children everything from praying a hedge of protection to praying the promises of God. Here is a simple starting point: Go back to the Bible. The Bible wasn't just meant to be read. It was meant to be prayed. Scripture is the best script for our prayers! I can t stress enough how important it is to also have Christian friends who will walk the path with you. Likely someone has already been through what you re going through and can pray for you and share advice on your journey. Through my weekly Mother s Bible Study gathering, I learned to turn Bible verses into prayers. When our children were small, I recall turning Luke 2:52 into a prayer blessing. This verse says, "Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man. I have circled my children with this prayer many times: May you grow in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and with man. Now that our children are older, my prayers are our children to walk with God with their families. Growing up with a small group of Godly families and their children who worshipped together, attended Kid s Club together, and were such an instrumental part of their lives, I am now praying that my children can replicate that experience for themselves in their adult lives. What are your deepest desires for your children? What are God's desires for your children? Identify them and use God's Word to pray circles around your children. Reach out to others around you and join together in keeping each other strong in the Lord. Parenting can be a challenge. But prayer covers all. So let me say it one more time: you'll never be a perfect parent, but you can be a praying parent. And those collective prayers are the greatest legacy you can leave. 3 Redeemer Good News May ENROLLMENT UPDATE We praise God that our enrollment is up from this same time last year and it s only April as I write this! You continuously are our best salespeople! I can t tell you how many people seek us out because they ve heard from you, then go online to find out more information. Way to go! Keep sharing about Redeemer Christian Academy with the neighbors, people at work, when you re walking in the neighborhood. Here are some talking points: What you ll find that is unique about our Preschool through grade 8 school is: We utilize the SMART program preschool through grade 3, which readies children for learning and enhances the brain in learning through movement. It's especially helpful for boys to be able to have fun and learn at the same time. The SMART program also helps with sports in that it hones balance, proprioceptiveness and patterning. Check out our website for more information on the SMART program. We follow through on assignments and learning by holding our students accountable and responsible for their assignments and actions. We partner with you as parents in teaching your children to be people of integrity and responsible citizens. We are high-touch in that we nurture the whole child. We get to know your children, their needs and the gifts God has given them. We help children to be able to identify their gifts and use them. We can give hugs and high fives as well as loving guidance in areas they need to improve upon. We encourage you to come in with your little ones and help them get their morning off to a good start. You ll get to meet other parents, too, and form lasting friendships. We look forward to talking with you after school any day, as we consider this a partnership. We offer many opportunities for parents to get to know one another through classroom contact, gatherings and service projects. We offer teachings for a LIFEtime: Learning, Integrity, Faith and Excellence in all we do. Our school offers a family feel. We work with our parents each step of the way in nurturing your child. Please call or me to set up an opportunity to come and see for yourself. lwiebold@redeemerwayzata.org or 952/ SPRING WORKDAY MAY 6 It's that time of year when we "spruce up" our facility and grounds that God has entrusted us with. Plan on spending the morning of May 6 with other members beginning at 8:30am. There will be inside and outside tasks. We've had limited hands showing up the last few workdays. Please consider volunteering a bit of your time. Hank Radintz

7 Redeemer Good News May SUMMER CAMP 2017 Many parents have been asking me about summer camp options I would recommend for their son or daughter. The truth is there are quite a few camps I would endorse; however, I have an option I am plugging more than others this summer. This summer I will be the main speaker/teacher at Trout Lake Camps Young Teens Camp the week of July 9-July 15. This is for students going into 7th, 8th and 9th grade Fall This is the same Trout Lake Camp we traveled to for our fall retreat last October. TLC is one of the biggest and most well known camps in the state of MN and has tons to offer students looking for an amazing week of faith building and outdoor adventure. There will be roughly 150 campers at TLC that week. For more information, contact me or visit the TLC website at or call the TLC main office at (218) LIVING LAST SUPPER MAUNDY THURSDAY, APRIL 13 Disciples Thanks so much for taking a little risk and portraying a disciple of Jesus. What you did brought on fresh meaning to all of us we as disciples, the work our pastor does in continuing to share bread and wine, and to all who gathered. It was a beautiful night in the presence of Jesus, and now we see the continuing Kingdom started in new younger disciples as well! Thanks for your time, emotion, worry, but also grace, commitment, and generosity in sharing your time and special words that you crafted and delivered. It was well worth every effort! Thanks to Tom Sullivan for nudging us all, coaching, kidding and being one of us! Youth group thank you for greeting, serving and clean up after the program! Because of you, everyone was able to enjoy a dinner, the program, and a night of fellowship! Numerous people commented on how helpful you were throughout the evening! Volunteer team Linda Krantz, Sue Past, David Wagner, Priscilla Sohn, Cathy Schrader, Tammy Melton, Jeff Klone and Loren Krantz, thank you for all the planning, prep, service support, and clean-up you offered to make the evening a wonderful event for all! God bless, Stacy Klone and Dan Oie
