If you have mobility issues that make it difficult for you to come and receive communion or laying-on-of-hands for healing, should you want to, then do please notify our sides-people, and we will come to you. Please do stay for coffee served at the back of church after the service. There is a toilet at the back of church should you need to use it during the service. THE GATHERING We stand at the entrance of the choir and clergy and sing: Hymn 242: Percy Dearmer. GOD IS LOVE: HIS THE CARE, tending each, ev rywhere. God is love, all is there! Jesus came to show him, that we all might know him! Sing aloud, loud, loud! Sing aloud, loud, loud! God is good! God is truth! God is beauty! Praise him!

2 None can see God above; we can share life and love; thus may we Godward move, seek him in creation, holding ev ry nation. Jesus lived on the earth, hope and life brought to birth and affirmed human worth, for he came to save us by the truth he gave us. To our Lord praise we sing, light and life, friend and King, coming down, love to bring, pattern for our duty, showing God in beauty. THE GREETING Celebrant The Lord be with you and also with you THE PRAYER OF PREPARATION Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

3 PRAYERS OF PENITENCE Celebrant Our Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Amen. Lord have mercy. Celebrant God so loved the world that he gave his only Son Jesus Christ to save us from our sins, to be our advocate in heaven, and to bring us to eternal life. Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, firmly resolved to keep God s commandments and to live in love and peace with all. As the Body of Christ receives its life from God, and offers its life to God, so we, as members of that Body, greet each other in love. 11 THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen. The Breaking of the Bread The Priest breaks the consecrated bread We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread. The Giving of Communion Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Blessed are those who are called to his supper. Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed. He whom the universe could not contain is present to us in this bread. He who redeemed us and called us by name now meets us in this cup. So take this bread and this wine. In them God comes to us so that we may come to God.

If you would like a blessing rather than to receive Communion (the bread and wine) then please keep hold of your service sheet as you approach the servers at front of the church. Laying on of hands for healing is offered in the south aisle chapel during the distribution of communion. This ministry is offered for your own needs or for someone who maybe on your heart and mind at this time. Those who are going into hospital in the coming week, or for some other reason, and who would like to be anointed with oil of healing and prayed for by a priest please do have a word with a priest after the service they will gladly offer you this ministry.

17 Notices Continued Sunday 11 am Tea/Coffee Rota - Volunteers Urgently needed to help prepare and serve refreshments after the 11 am service. Only once a month so not too onerous. Without more help we may not be able to offer refreshments every week. Please speak with Lindsey Plunkett. Christianity Explored. If a sufficient number of people are interested, I would be happy to run this seven-week course in an informal setting in the autumn, on a day/at a time to suit the majority. We have run the course on a number of occasions in the past, and several members of our congregation have found it helpful. It takes group members on a journey through Mark s Gospel to discover who Jesus is, why he came and what it means to follow him. We re collecting used postage stamps for charity, supporting the RNIB charity to raise funds for the blind and partially sighted. Please cut the stamps from your envelopes, leaving a 1 cm border around each stamp. Pop them into the RNIB box on the window sill near the church door. Many thanks

18 Outreach 3Way are fundraising for an accessible recreational area, this will include a wheelchair swing. They need to raise approximately 20,000 for the system and installation. This will be a huge benefit to the people they support with profound learning disabilities and hopefully the wider community. In this Year of Prayer we will be running a course this Autumn to help renew and refresh our prayer lives. 19 Ride and Stride Sponsored Event - Saturday 8 th September 9 am 5 pm. Visit Sussex's unique historic buildings, see our beautiful countryside, get some exercise and have fun with the family, in a group or as an individual entry... what could be better? How can you get involved? Ride your bike, your horse or wheelchair, walk or run to raise money for St. Margaret s Church and the Sussex Historic Churches Trust. The money you raise will be divided equally between the two. Visit to plan your route and to create an online sponsor form. We will need some volunteers to be in church on the day to sign off sponsor forms and offer some light refreshments for those visiting us. Not available on the day? the participants from our church will be looking for sponsorship, so a chance for all to get involved. Sponsor forms and more information are available from Clare Wilson. 20 Harvest Praise Lunch Saturday 29 th September 12:00 14:00 St Margaret s Church Worship, Fun, Fellowship come and join us for a Ploughman s Lunch, some worship and games as we give thanks for all that God has given us. Adults 2.50, Child 1.50 or Family Ticket 7.00 (2 x Adults, 2 x Children). Tickets available from Mave in the Parish Office (9 till 12 Mon to Thurs) or from Rob Pudney in Church from the 26th August onwards. Harvest Supper Saturday 29 th September 7 pm. Tickets are now on sale for This year, we will be enjoying a retro evening of Bangers, Beans, Bingo and Beetle, with a sausage and bean casserole, a round or two of bingo and a Beetle Drive. There will also be a raffle to raise funds for Crawley Open House. Doors open at 6:45 pm. Please remember to bring our own drinks and glasses.
