SECOND POINT The importance of silence in reflecting and connecting it to prayer 3. 12: :10 At MB Place of Death Prayer (MANTAS MILERIS) to lead the rosary -- Glorious Mysteries explain why the glorious mysteries because of Saturday and the irony of these mysteries on this day at this place. Prayer for hope, healing and reconciliation not just in Ferguson, but to St. Louis, Our Nation and Our World That this young s man s death not be in vain and that through our societal sinfulness the Lord may bring goodness to His people. 4. 1:10-2:20 Return to OLG Points to reflect on the way back to OLG in silence Our Collective sin -- This moment of silence is to be used to reflect in silence our collective frailties and weaknesses as society. Maybe I can bring to mind certain places I can reflect on as structures of our common life in society structures which can perpetuate inequality, injustice, poverty, marginalization. Structures such as the justice system, educational system, health system, housing, politics, mass media. These are structures which I rely to engage the world. Sometimes my own disorders connect with the structures to perpetuate these societal sins -- How can I work to be the change I want to see in society? OTHER DETAILS OF THE MEDITATION WALK -- PRE-REFLECTION AT OLG PRIOR TO DEPARTURE PURPOSE -- o The walk will take us from Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish towards the place where the young man Michael Brown was killed with the purpose of reflecting on the way there and back. The walk will be in silence except while Page 1

2 at the place where Michael was killed where we will be praying the Rosary in hope for reconciliation, healing and hope for our society. POC - MARY SIMMONS Police Dept. Ferguson, MO msimmons@fergusoncity.com What the youth will be carrying any of the following items maybe in solidarity, maybe as an expression of how his or her life is, or maybe as a statement of how his or her view of how they may view society at this moment the youth can use any of these means to express his way of feeling, or his or her state of life or it may be something the young person is healing from. Or maybe it could be something the young person may see as needing changed in his or herself or maybe in society. Chains Representing a variety of things such as a struggle I may personally be carrying and binding me or society. Our inability to be fully free as Jesus calls us to be. Crosses Representing our state of life maybe the difficulties we carry, our burdens and weaknesses or that of our brothers and sisters or a statement of faith. An act of Solidarity with someone. Coffin Representing death around us in society This can also be a statement of our own mortality or a symbol of our personal sinfulness or our collective sinfulness which we may be countering. (Clergy meeting recommended not to be carried We will not carry this) Banner Which may be explicitly expressing a certain way the youth feels and wishes to express it. Signs reflecting some statement (PRO-LIFE, ANTI DEATH, ANTI DRUGS, ANTI- HOMOFOBIA, ANTI-BULLYING, RACISM, RECONCILIATION, SEXISM, NO MACHISMO, ETC) Drum to keep rhythm and create a solemn procession An Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe Representing our faith and our Mother. Crucifix Representing our salvation through Jesus, his passion, death and resurrection The point of our Easter Retreat.
