2 WELCOME! n the same way that Moses lifted the serpent in Ithe desert so people could have something to see and then believe, it is necessary for the Son of Man to be lifted up and everyone who looks up to Him, trusting and expectant, will gain a real life, eternal life. John 3:14 The night time discussion between Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3 is one of the most important in all of Scripture. Arising from the conversation of this Pharisee and the Messiah is the realization that pedigree and performance do not save us. That living a good life, or being wise and deep in Steve Haley theological understanding, or being born to faithful parents President is not enough to ensure favor before God. Instead, we must be born again. It was a truth that wise Nicodemus had trouble understanding. With a touch of righteous surprise, Jesus tells Nicodemus, You re a respected teacher of Israel, and you don t know these things? The truth is, Nicodemus didn t. And an equal truth is, because we tend to forget, we must re-learn these things as well. What are these things we must re-learn? That only new people inherit the Kingdom of God. That only Jesus can redeem the old and make it new. That Jesus is sufficient for Steve Rose everything we need. That there is salvation in and through Executive Secretary no one else than Him. That our very best efforts do not make us worthy of eternal life. That the blood of Christ covers our terminal sins. That the Cross of Christ is the story of the redemption of the lost human race. Calvary s Cross. The symbol of our sin and of God s love. Terrible to gaze upon, these blood stained beams of wood give testimony to the incredible depth of divine grace. There are many places that draw our attention and invite us to invest our hearts; only one draws us eternally heavenward. The invitation of this Camp Meeting is to look up at the Cross and believe, and in so doing, receive the priceless gift Douglas Hilliard of life in Him. Treasurer Steve Haley President...
