3 TOM S MESSAGE FOR TODAY: Going For Jesus THIS AFTERNOON It s All About Jesus Broadcast With Evangelist R. V. THE CENTER PIECE Prophetic Postponement (Written by Randall Price : Adapted by Tom Mooty) Prophetic Postponement is a term used to describe the present-day delay of the Messianic Program of Redemption for National Israel! It is clearly outlined in the New Testament that Jesus is coming again ; but a coming again infers a second coming ; which clearly depends upon there being a first coming. The Bible refers to the first and second comings of Messiah (King Jesus) because of the judicial hardening of the heart of national Israel.

4 When Jesus came the first time (The First Messianic Advent), He provided the basis of spiritual regeneration which only a small Jewish remnant experienced. It is a small token of something that will occur on a national scale when Jesus returns in His Second Advent (Second Coming). This will occur only when God finishes His Plan for His Church! Now, wait a minute! Where did this Church come from? What is this all about? When the official leadership of Israel officially rejected Jesus as their Messiah, the restoration of national Israel was postponed (not cancelled); and The Lord began dealing with a third grouping of people. This third grouping is drawn from the two major groupings: Jews and non-jews (Gentiles) to form a completely new (3 rd ) body The New Testament Church! Because of the postponement of His dealing with Israel, a Second Messianic Advent was necessitated to complete the Israeli spiritual and physical restoration. This is NOT to say that any of this caught The Lord off guard. All Messianic offers to national Israel were legitimate and genuine; and only after their rejection (which God did FOREKNOW, but did not DICTATE) did The Lord move to the next phase. It is absolutely essential to understand this concept of prophetic postponement if we are ever to be able to understand several prophetic Texts is the Old Testament. For example, in Daniel 9:27, we have an interruption in the fulfillment of the 70 weeks in-

5 serted between the conclusion of the 69 th week and the 70 th one. The first 69 weeks ( time periods of sevens ) have been literally completed historically; but the interval of time has lasted almost 2,000 years at this writing. This interval of time was when the birth and ministry of the New Testament Church began. We hear today of recesses for Congress in which the main business is suspended for other items to be completed. The same principle is found in the parliamentary procedure of tabling a motion (which is a temporarily setting aside of one item to enable the group to deal with other issues; and then taking the original back up again). As far as the original motion is concerned, it is seamless in the final stages. Understanding this concept helps us to better understand God s Blessings on the Church today (as opposed to Israel) under the New Covenant (or New Testament) while, at the same time, Israel still retaining her status as God s Nation, God s People, and God s Land. Temporarily postponed, yes; but definitely not cancelled as The People of God. IMA JUST SAYIN Please pray for our tremendous sign ministry up on our corner. It would be amazing to actually determine how many sets of eyes are fixed on that

6 message every day; and multiply that number by 365 days; and see what you get in a year! SCHEDULING MEETINGS, ETC. Everyone, please use the calendar on the wall beside the secretary s office to write in all special meetings, parties, etc in which you wish to use the facilities or equipment of the church. Please put the times of your function on there as well; and do not forget set-up times for tables and chairs as well as cleanup afterwards (You ARE planning on cleaning up your mess, aren t you?). We always check this calendar before we schedule any meetings. WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS Wednesdays start with activities in the gym and fellowship in the Lion n Lamb Café at 4:30. All classes (for children, youth, and adults) begin at 6:00. FIVE MINUTES WITH TOM MOOTY We have such a wonderful opportunity of spreading the Gospel in the unique way of a newspaper column. Please help us tell everyone about it. It appears every Thursday in the Newport Plain Talk; and can be accessed on the website (webaptistchurch.net) as well.

7 TNT = ( Thurs Night Thing ) = VBI Both of the Thursday Night Bible Classes have hit the ground running again. They both meet at 7:00 PM on Thursdays. Recordings are available if you have to miss a class; or want to do independent study on your own. Brothers Paul Stiefvater and Tom Mooty are teaching these classes. When the course of study has been completed, every Book in the Bible and many topics will have been covered. This is a very useful time of concentrated Bible Study; and you would do well to get involved. If you are interested in working in the control room ministry, we would like to talk to you. We have an immediate need for at least three video camera operators to record the morning (and other) services. They will also be used to stream our services over the website when the details are worked out. It is a very important work; and requires great interest and dedication.
