1 T R I N I T Y LUTHERAN CHURCH LUTHERAN CHURCH - MISSOURI SYNOD FARIBAULT MINNESOTA GOSPEL SERVICE WITH HOLY COMMUNION FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY AS WE GATHER Although Jesus does not say blessed are the patient as He speaks that special list of attributes of God s people that we know as the Beatitudes, the fruit of patience underlies the blessed are statements He does mention. It takes patience to be merciful and to act as peacemakers. Staying calm when being persecuted for righteousness sake takes patience. Enduring unfair criticism takes patience as well. There may even be a need for patience as we share with the saints in the worship life of the Church. May it be fully evident among us at all times! HYMN OF INVOCATION We Have Come to Join in Worship We have come to join in worship And adore the Lord our God. Let us come in prayer, expecting God to speak His mighty Word. All is vain unless the Spirit Of the Holy One comes down. Christians, pray and holy manna Will be showered all around. See them gather all around you, Those He bought at such a cost; See the weary, see the hurting, See the lonely, see the lost. Be His hand, and touch the needy; Be His gospel, let it sound! We have not walked humbly before our God. In Your great mercy, forgive, renew, and lead us so that we live as His faith-filled followers to the glory of Your holy name. Amen. Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. POSTLUDE * * * TO GOD BE THE GLORY * * * The Sacrament Of The Altar is celebrated at all three services in the confidence that our Lord gives us His very body and blood to eat and drink in, with and under the bread and wine for the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our union with Him and one another. As we trust His words and repent of all sin, we proclaim His death until He returns. Because this act is a confession of our faith, Close Communion is practiced at Trinity.
