7 One They shall come and make known to a people yet unborn the saving deeds that he has done. The Second Reading: 1 John (Fr) Read by Guylaine Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. God s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.

8 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Saviour of the world. God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God. So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgement, because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. We love because he first loved us. Those who say, I love God, and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen,

9 cannot love God whom they have not seen. The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. Reader La Parole du Seigneur. Steve Zytveld will be joining us from the Cathedral as our guest speaker, and we ll enjoy a meal together afterward. This year s Big Give is on Saturday, June 2 and we need your help! Help us collect donations. A handout is at the back of the church with information on the goods that we need the most and drop-off times. Please help us by circulating this to your family, friends, neighbours, and coworkers. 23 A program of Ottawa Innercity Ministries, Inner City Arts provides a safe and supportive environment for Ottawa s streetinvolved youth to engage in the arts. On May 10, they will be holding their annual art show and auction at the Lansdowne Horticulture Building (1525 Princess Patricia Way). Moving Forward with Reconciliation' Saturday May 26, 2018, 9:30-3:30pm Christ Church Bells Corners 3861 Old Richmond Rd, Ottawa In a format of plenaries and concurrent sessions, this workshop will deepen our understanding of reconciliation and explore ways that we can move forward on the

24 journey of truth and reconciliation. Melanie Delva, Reconciliation Animator for the Anglican Church of Canada, is the keynote speaker. Besides breakout sessions like "Reconciliation as a Spiritual Practice," and "Inuit Ministry of Ottawa," the day includes a "Standing Stones Sacred Gathering" worship service led by Rev. Ryan Boivin. Lunch and refreshments are included in the cost, which is $20. 26 Student Leadership Program Apply Now! The St. Albans Student Leadership Program is an excellent opportunity for students to grow in their faith and leadership, get engaged in a ministry of the church that interests them, and earn a little bit of extra cash. We are hoping to take on a team of interns in a variety of areas in the life of St. Albans: campus outreach, francophone ministry, children s ministry, music, or another area of your interest. Applications are available on the church website; those received by in April will be given preference. Talk to Mark or Allie for details!

27 Take the Poverty Challenge on May 12 Are you interested in volunteering for an incredible initiative on Saturday, May 12? The Poverty Challenge is a full-day exercise that simulates the experience of poverty, and the difficulties of navigating the system. Ottawa civic leaders are being invited to participate, and to help us make it happen, a small army of volunteers is needed! It's a very powerful day, and we're using it to launch a civic leadership education series on housing and homelessness in Ottawa. The series is aimed at diving deeper into the problem, and presenting solutions that are happening all across the country right now.
