For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus sake. 2 Corinthians 4:5 What does your conclusion to this prayer mean? "For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever" means, We have made all these requests of you because, as our all-powerful king, you not only want to, but are able to give us all that is good; and because your holy name, and not we ourselves, should receive all the praise, forever. What does that little word "Amen" express? This is sure to be! It is even more sure that God listens to my prayer, than that I really desire what I pray for. The Heidelberg Catechism Lords' Day 52 How great, dear brothers, are the mysteries of the Lord's Prayer, how magnificent; few in words, but abundant in power. Cyprian (died September 14, 258 A.D.)
The Lord s Day July 17, 2016 A.D. Welcome in the name of the Lord Jesus! If you are a guest with us, please be sure to sign our Welcome Pads when they are passed around before the service. Children are welcome in our worship. We have a nursery available for children 3 and under. Children 4 to 6 years of age may be dismissed to Children s Worship prior to the sermon. Thank you for joining us today and may the Lord richly bless you. Song of Assembly 1 You Have Been Good Paris Welcome and Announcements O Lord, You have been good, You have been faithful to all generations. O Lord, Your steadfast love and tender mercy, Have been our salvation. For by Your hand we have been fed, And by Your Spirit we have been led. O Lord, You have been good, You have been faithful, to all generations. For by Your hand we have been fed, And by Your Spirit we have been led. O Lord, Almighty God, Father unchanging, upright and holy. O Lord, You have been good, You have been faithful, You have been good. Responsive Call to Worship: Psalm 149 Pastor: Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! All: Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! Prayer of Adoration & Praise based on Psalm 16 Hymn of Praise For All the Saints For all the saints, who from their labors rest, Who thee by faith before the world confessed, Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest. Alleluia! Alleluia! O blest communion, fellowship divine! We feebly struggle, they in glory shine; Yet all are one in thee, for all are thine. Alleluia! Alleluia! But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day; The saints triumphant rise in bright array; The King of glory passes on His way. Alleluia! Alleluia! How 1 All songs used by permission or covered under CCLI license #
Reading of the Word: The Lord Reigns Psalm 93 The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt. Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty! Your decrees are very trustworthy; holiness befits your house, O Lord, forevermore. Pastor: This is the Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God! Prayer of Confession O Lord, we want more than anything to enter into your presence and worship You face to face, awed by Your majesty, greatness, and glory, encouraged by Your love, mercy and goodness. Yet we know that there is coldness in our hearts, hardness toward You, and unwillingness to admit our sin and need for You. Forgive us now, O Father, for Jesus sake. Come near to us and strengthen us until Christ shall reign supreme within us, in every thought, word, and deed, in a faith that purifies the heart, overcomes the world, works by love, fastens us to You, and always clings to the cross...silent & Personalized Confession of Sin... Amen! There Is One Mediator 1 Timothy 2:5,6 There is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. Worship with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs Arise, My Soul, Arise Arise, my soul arise, shake off your guilty fears, The bleeding sacrifice in my behalf appears. Before the throne, my Surety stands, Before the throne, my Surety stands, My name is written on His hands. Arise, arise, arise, arise my soul, arise! Arise, arise, arise, arise my soul, arise, Shake off your guilty fear and rise! He ever lives above for me to intercede, His all redeeming love, His precious blood to plead, His blood atoned for every race, His blood atoned for every race, And sprinkles now the throne of grace. Five bleeding wounds He bears received on Calvary, They pour effectual prayers, they strongly plead for me, "Forgive him, oh forgive," they cry, "Forgive him, oh forgive," they cry, "Nor let that ransomed sinner die." My God is reconciled, His pardoning voice I hear, He owns me for His child, I can no longer fear, With confidence I now draw nigh, With confidence I now draw nigh, And "Father, Abba, Father" cry. 2 Wesley
And Can It Be Wesley And can it be that I should gain an in'trest in the Savior's blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! How can it be that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? Amazing love! How can it be that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? Amazing love! How can it be that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? He left His Father's throne above so free, so infinite His grace! Humbled Himself so great His love! And bled for all His chosen race. 'Tis mercy all, immense and free; for, O my God, it found out me. Long my imprisoned spirit lay, fast bound in sin and nature's night; Thine eye diffused a quick'ning ray, I woke, the dungeon flamed with light; My chains fell off, my heart was free; I rose, went forth, and followed Thee. No condemnation now I dread; Jesus, and all in Him, is mine! Alive in Him, my living Head, and clothed in righteousness divine! Bold I approach th'eternal throne, and claim the crown, through Christ, my own. How Great Is Our God Tomlin/Cash/Reeves The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty, Let all the earth rejoice, all the earth rejoice He wraps Himself in light, and darkness tries to hide, And trembles at His voice, and trembles at His voice How great is our God, sing with me How great is our God, and all will see how great How great is our God And age to age He stands, and time is in His hands, Beginning and the End, Beginning and the End The Godhead three in one, Father Spirit Son, The Lion and the Lamb, the Lion and the Lamb Name above all names, Worthy of all praise, My heart will sing, How great is our God Prayers of Thanksgiving & Petition Elder Kent Quinn His Tithes & Our Offerings Sermon 2 Series: Our Father Pastor Tommy Lee XI. For Romans 8.26b People Selected Scriptures Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 5 The Lord Adds to His Church To read more about our new members, see page 5. Brian, Julie, Margaret, Penelope, and Rosemary Rodgers The Membership Vows (PCA Book of Church Order 57-5) Do you acknowledge yourselves to be sinners in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope except through His sovereign mercy? Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alone for salvation as He is offered in the Gospel? Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomes followers of Christ? Do you promise to support the Church in its worship and work to the best of your abilities? Do you submit yourselves to the government and discipline of the Church, and promise to study its purity and peace? The Sacrament of Holy Baptism Prayer for the New Members Penelope Delia Rodgers Rosemary Rebekah Rodgers Elder Greg Smith Sacrament of the Lord s Supper Communion, also called The Lord s Supper or Eucharist, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committed followers of Jesus Christ to share in this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation that proclaims the gospel, who are at peace with God and their neighbor, and who seek strength to live in a deeper communion with Jesus. If you are not a Christian, or you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the Church. (Gluten free communion bread is available upon request; please speak to the pastor before the service or alert your server during communion.) Before the Throne of God Above Bancroft & Cook Before the throne of God above, I have a strong, a perfect plea, A great High Priest whose name is "Love," who ever lives and pleads for me. My name is graven on His hands, my name is written on His heart; I know that while in heav'n He stands no tongue can bid me thence depart. No tongue can bid me thence depart. When Satan tempts me to despair, and tells me of the guilt within, Upward I look and see Him there Who made an end to all my sin. Because the sinless Savior died, my sinful soul is counted free; For God, the Just, is satisfied to look on him and pardon me. To look on him and pardon me. Behold him there! The risen Lamb, my perfect, spotless Righteousness, The great unchangeable I AM, the King of glory and of grace! One with Himself I cannot die, my soul is purchased by His blood; My life is hid with Christ on high, with Christ, my Savior and my God. With Christ, my Savior and my God. 4

Song of Faith Majesty Hayford Majesty, worship His Majesty. Unto Jesus be all glory, honor and praise. Majesty, kingdom authority, Jesus, Who died, now glorified, King of all kings. Introduction of New Members Brian and Julie Rodgers will be celebrating ten years of marriage in August. In those ten years they have had six children so far: Margaret (9), Penelope (7), Rosemary (6), Samuel (5), Bethany (3), and Silas (almost 2). Julie's oldest daughter Allie is 15 and currently lives in Atlanta. The Rodgers live in Somerville and have a farm, where they raise goats, pigs, chickens, and cows. Brian owns an electrical testing company called AMP, and Julie homeschools the children. Aside from farming and gardening, the Rodgers family enjoys camping, hiking, bonfires, and S'mores. The class is taught by Kent Quinn and meets in the classroom down the hall from the Church office Foundations of the Faith: What is the gospel? Why do we need it? What is salvation? How do we receive it? What difference does it make? Paul's letter to the Romans carefully and lovingly answers these questions and more. Join us as we unpack this gospel message and what it means for us. This class, led by Stuart Smith, meets in the Parlor (in the children/youth wing) and is open to everyone.
