We refer to it as the Fourth Day book. In the first paragraph on page 9 is the statement: In the truest sense, Emmaus is a spiritual renewal movement because it depends on each generation of pilgrims to pass on its enthusiasm to the next. The keystone of the renewal process is SPONSORSHIP. If you have someone in mind who God has led you to sponsor, go to Chapter 8, The Next Generation: Being a Good Sponsor in your Fourth Day Book to discover the keys to being a good sponsor...or ask any board member. Remember: Christ is counting on you! 1

5 4th Day Reunion Groups Remember that The Walk to Emmaus is just one part of your life in grace. The whole weekend is directed toward the hope that once you have experienced this Christian ideal, you will meet in special Christian communities and share how Christ is working in your life. These special communities are called group reunions. The group reunion is one of the greatest treasures of the Emmaus movement. It helps you persevere in the life in grace and hold on to those valuable aspects of the weekend when you return to your life in the world. The group reunion serves the life of the Emmaus community. Excerpted from: Day Four: The Pilgrim s Continued Journey, chapter 6, page 40. The Upper Room Handbook on Emmaus, (page 115) states:..communities measure the vitality of the Emmaus movement not by the number of Walks or the number of pilgrims but by the number of ongoing group reunions among the pilgrims. To ensure the Diakonia Community members are able to continue their Fourth Day walk in God s Grace, this section of the newsletter will focus on helping members find existing group reunions or provide assistance in forming their own group. Our first task is to identify existing groups. A list of groups including group name, location, meeting schedule, and contact information is published below to assist pilgrim sponsors and community members in this vital aspect of the Fourth Day walk in grace. If your reunion group is not listed below or if the information below has changed, contact Dan Green (dgreen24@att.net) with your current information. We will add to the list as information is received and this section will be a continuing feature in the newsletter and on the Diakonia website ( DIAKONIA EMMAUS REUNION GROUPS Name Meeting Location Day/Time Contact Couples for Christ Northminster Presbyterian Church 1st Tuesday 6:30PM Donna Green 3rd Friday 6:30PM Prayer Warriors (Women) Jim s Restaurant Wednesday Jackie Lopez Nacogdoches Rd. at :00 AM Northminster Women Northminster Presbyterian Church 2nd and 4th Mondays Helen Richards 9:00AM Plan B (Men) Jim s Restaurant Thursday William Werner Nacogdoches Rd. at :30AM Golden Girls Abel s on 3009 Thursday 6:00AM Niesha Marshall Men s Sunrise Jim s Restaurant Thursday 6:00 AM Stan Marshall Nacogodoches Rd. at HTPC Women Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church Monday 6:30 PM Cheryl Serrato Cracked Pots USAA Wednesday 12:00 Lisa Schwartz lis@saxt.rr.com Women s Reunion Canyon Lake Presbyterian Church Wednesday 9 AM Sue Youngs
