3 St James is an Anglican Church with a mission to bring everyone, within our orbit of influence, to faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in the Faith and Practice of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church professed before the division of East and West. We believe in this Tradition as received by the Anglican Province of America. We believe the Bible contains all things necessary to salvation and is divinely inspired. We believe in the Ecumenical Councils of the Undivided Church and we understand authority in the Church to be guided by the Holy Spirit and found through faithful reception of Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. We believe the Anglican Tradition, without the recent innovations, is a faithful and orthodox expression of Christianity. We believe in the Apostolic Succession of Bishops, in the Seven Sacraments unchanged in either form or matter, in the witness of the Book of Common Prayer, and think worship in the beauty of holiness is of first importance. We know that Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth, and The Life, this Faith is unchanging, and we trust God Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as our only hope. Amen. Join us on Sundays after the 11:00 AM (ET) Mass for Coffee Hour and study of Bishop Frank Wilson's classic Faith and Practice. Bishop Wilson - First Bishop of Eau Claire - wrote his incomparable, practical, and pastoral exposition of the Christian Faith in Anglican Tradition in He was a "modern" churchman in the High-Church line with a love of new inventions and the exploration of life. In 1939 north-western Wisconsin was still on the American frontier. Wilson had the uncanny knack of putting soaring mysteries into everyday illustrations, without losing the greater mystical dimension. Consider this paragraph that we just read from his chapter entitle "Holy Communion": One thing more was necessary - namely, a means whereby this gift of His risen life might be applied to men and women, instilled into them, and made part of them. This is the reason for the Lord's Supper, which became part of the divine sequence. When He instituted the Sacrament our Lord said, in effect, "I give Myself to you. Tomorrow I lay down My life. I do it through the agency of the Cross, but my death is only the termination of My human ministry. My risen life will still be available to you and to those who through you shall wish to receive Me. This is My

4 Body. This is My Blood. It is My life I am giving to you under these sacramental symbols. Do this in remembrance of me." Thus the bishop explains, in simple but sublime terms, the mystery of the Real Presence in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Our plan is to study Psalm 23, The Ten Commandments, Our Lord's Prayer, and The Beatitudes this year. These are all fundamental resources for Christian discipleship. And, we are using The Rev's Charles Allen's 1954 book God's Psychiatry as a practical guide to all four documents. I am convinced that we need to memorize more, stress the basics, and pastorally apply the scriptures to our lives. It doesn't get more basic than this Bible Study.
