Song of Gathering and Preparation The people of God always sang as they ascended the hill in Jerusalem up to the temple to worship (see Psalms ). We, as well, prepare our hearts, minds and bodies for worship by singing about the God we serve. 3 Call to Worship We read God s Word, the Bible, together. It reveals to us who God is and what He expects of us. Exodus 15:2, 6, 11, 13, 17 & 18 (ESV) The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him Your right hand, O LORD, glorious in power, your right hand, O LORD, shatters the enemy Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders? You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed; you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode You will bring them in and plant them on your own mountain, the place, O LORD, which you have made for your abode, the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have established. The LORD will reign forever and ever. Prayer of Adoration and Confession Stan McMahan We pray together praising God for who He really is (Adoration) and admitting our inability to live up to what He expects of us (Confession). Assurance of Pardon We again read God s Word together and are reminded that mercy and grace are freely given to all who have faith in Jesus Christ. Isaiah 41:8-10 (ESV) But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham, my friend; you whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off ; fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Worship Through Giving We respond to the good news of God s mercy and grace for us in Jesus by giving generously to the work of this church and the kingdom of God. We express our praise to God for who He is and what He has done for us. Seasons of the Cross The color green: a sign of life. In the plant kingdom, growth within an organism extends outward into tender green shoots, culminating in a blossom of life and as a plant goes to seed, multiplying itself over and over again. On the cross, green is a symbol of the ongoing work of Christ in our hearts. Starting with the smallest seed, His work grows in us over our lifetime, shooting tendrils outward into the lives of others as His kingdom grows. Christ s work is ongoing, vibrant and alive in the hearts of His people.

8 Scripture Passage and Sermon Outline Proclamation of God s Word Text: Joshua 1:1-9 (ESV) Title: The LORD Your God Is With You Wherever You Go Teacher: Josh Floyd 1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, 2 Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. 9 Our Problem Our Solution YOU CAN PRAY WITH US 1. Worship the LORD our God for His love shown to us through Him being close to us. Praise Him, Father, Son and Holy Spirit for His goodness, power and love shown to sinners like you and me through Christ. 2. Confess to Jesus the ways in which we have been those who have given in to fear and have tried to handle life in our own strength rather than finding our strength in Him. Confess ways we have walked by sight rather than faith in Him. 3. Give thanks to God for calling us to join Him on His mission of extending His kingdom by taking back enemy territory and bringing all types of people to faith in Him. Thank Him for the difficult circumstances and difficult people He places in our lives that cause us to depend on Him for strength and guidance. 4. Who in your life does not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior? Pray the Holy Spirit would use us to help them come to faith in Jesus! And pray the Lord would give us boldness to initiate gospel conversations at the best time with those He places in our lives. 5. Pray we would realize and remember daily the love God has for us is the fuel we have to go on mission for Him, share our faith, enjoy time in His Word and be strong and courageous. Pray He would have us walk by faith and not by sight!
