2 Course Catalog and Calendar APOLOGETICS Apologetics-AP301 A survey of the evidences for the central truths of Christianity: the existence of God, the deity and resurrection of Christ, and the authority and truth of the Bible. BIBLICAL STUDIES Old Testament Survey-BIBL201 An introduction to the authorship and contents of the Old Testament books as they relate to Jesus Christ. Special attention will be given to important persons, places, and events. New Testament Survey-BIBL203 This course is an introduction to the authorship and contents of the New Testament books. Special attention will be given to important persons, places, events, as well as to key chapters in the New Testament revelation. The Gospels-BIBL204 This course gives an in depth study of the Gospels and Jesus Christ. Special attention is given to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, as well as first Century Palestine. John-BIBL205 An intensive exegetical study of the Gospel of John. The Study of the life of Jesus within the Gospel of John and those areas which are unique to John and not the Synoptics. The Books of Poetry BIBL206 A study of the Books of Poetry within the Old Testament. This course covers Job-Lamentations and focuses on the various poetic styles and the theology of the Poetic books. Inductive Bible Study-BIBL301 This course introduces the student to the five main theological resource tools and the ten methods necessary for an inductive study of the Bible. The student writes his own commentary on a prescribed book of the Bible using the tools and methods to which he is introduced in the course. Eschatology-BIBL302 This class studies the end times. Eschatological prophesy is examined and several theories are studied. The student will develop his own eschatological framework within the boundaries of sound doctrine. CHURCH STUDIES Foundations of the Faith CH102 This is a basic course designed to teach students about the basics of the Christian faith and to challenge contemporary Christianity as it is taught in modern America. This is an intense study of the foundations of Christianity. This class gives a broad overview of the Bible and God s plan for redemption.
3 Church Administration-CH201 This course focuses on the business aspect of running a church. Learn how to budget, save, and raise funds. In addition students learn about membership rosters, giving reports, and legal aspects of starting a church. Leadership CH301 This course is designed to teach the student the basic organization necessary for an effective local church and Christian ministry. Emphasis is placed on the development of biblical management and leadership skills. Attention is given to the student s spiritual life, personal life, and ministry life. Topics addressed include the call to ministry, stages of ministry, finding the right church or ministry, personal piety, and staff relations and development. Church Ministries CH302 A faculty supervised practical ministry experience through observation at an approved ministry site. This course is designed to provide the student with exposure to local church ministry. Worship-CH303 This course is designed to introduce the student to worship techniques and styles. The student will be tasked to develop a 6 week Bible study in worship. Children and Young Adult Ministries-CH305 This course is designed to give a basic overview on developing and running an effective children and young adult ministry. The focus is on training and developing children to be Christian disciples an d future church leaders. Evangelism and Discipleship CH306 A study of evangelism and discipleship focusing on personal witnessing and methods and procedures to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Global Theology CH307 This class is a survey of global ministry. Focuses include global missions and un-churched communities. The purpose of this class is to prepare the student to have a global mindset in fulfilling the Great Commission. HISTORY Church History-HIST301 A survey of the first fourteen centuries of the Christian Church including the persecutions, the rise of heresy, the development of Roman Catholicism during the Middle Ages, and the groups which dissented against Roman Catholicism. LIBERATION STUDIES Basic Hebrew Studies - LIB201 This course is designed to teach the student about Hebrew culture, language, Holy days, and traditions. Emphasis is placed on the traditions of Jesus Christ as a Jew.
4 Queer Theology LIB202 This course is designed to examine the Scriptures in regard to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender persons. This course will place emphasis on the main Scriptures used to condemn homosexuality. Attention is also given to the possibility of gay persons in the Scriptures. Women in Ministry LIB301 This course is designed to examine the Scriptures in regard to women in ministry. The course will explain gender within the church and the prominent historical figures of ministry that happen to be female. PASTORAL MINISTRY Spiritual Disciplines PAS401 This course is designed to challenge those that desire pastoral ministry in spiritual disciplines. This course is designed to develop leaders. Pastoral Theology PAS402 This course is designed for those that desire pastoral ministry. Focus is given to the call, character, leadership, and responsibility of a pastor. Pastoral Counseling PAS403 This course introduces the student to the methods of Pastoral counseling, focusing on crisis intervention. Other focuses include pre-marital and martial counseling, as well as family counseling. Operating the Church PAS404 This course covers everything from developing a leadership team, church discipline, developing effective Sunday School and Bible Study lessons, Officiating for weddings, funerals, baby dedications, etc. THEOLOGY Theology I-TH201 This course is designed to introduce the student to the major areas of systematic theology. This course presents the following areas of doctrine: Prolegomena, doctrine of the Trinity, doctrine of the Father, doctrine of the Bible (bibliology), and the doctrine of Prophecy (eschatology). Theology II TH202 This course is a continuation of the major areas of theology. *pre-requisite TH201 LANGUAGE STUDIES Biblical Hebrew I LS201 This course gives the student the basics of Hebrew. The student will learn to read and write in the ancient language. The student will learn how to pronounce and transcribe Hebrew. Biblical Greek I LS203 This course gives the student the basics of Greek. The student will learn to read and write in the ancient language. The student will learn how to pronounce and transcribe Greek.
