1 M.A. in Pastoral Ministry M.A. IN PASTORAL MINISTRY PROGRAM The M.A. in Pastoral Ministry is a collaborative arrangement between the North American Division Union Conferences and the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University. This 48-credit master s degree is delivered in each union via six-day field-based intensives. It is specifically designed for mature persons in ministry (employed or lay) who hold a bachelor s degree and have served in a ministry role for at least five years. This degree provides ministerial education for Adventist pastors employed by NAD conferences who otherwise could not attend traditional on-campus classroom learning. The tuition is subsidized by the unions and the seminary. PROGRAM OUTCOMES Students who complete this program will be able to: Deliver effective biblically-based sermons Demonstrate proper biblical interpretation skills Understand the historical-theological and missional development of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Train church members for evangelism Empower church members for leadership Reach specific social groups ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Bachelors or equivalent from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of Provide evidence of successful pastoral leadership during the past 5 years. The biblical principles of youth and young adult ministry, within the context of the church community, are given primary emphasis. Students will have an in-depth study from a pastoral perspective of selected issues having to do with the spiritual development of youth and young adults from fourteen to twenty five years of age. In particular, the reciprocal effects produced by the interaction of youth with such elements of their environment as home, church and society, will be examined for their potential impact on the fostering of that spiritual development.
