10 that those in supported accommodation face when moving to independent living, particularly in finding communities of welcome (outside consumers circles). This seems a real opportunity for Parishes to serve in a way that has the potential to foster our own spiritual growth, as those seeking to engage authentically with mental health consumers will be forced to evaluate themselves in the light of the Gospel (what Henry Nouwen describes as a reverse mission ). Some of the community mental health care providers operating within our Diocesan boundaries include (this is not an exhaustive list): MASH Trust Board (Wellington, Kapiti Coast, Horowhenua and Manawatu) Wellink Trust (Wellington, Hutt Valley, Kapiti Coast and Porirua) Pathways Trust (Wellington and Wanganui) Richmond Fellowship (Hutt Valley) Local District Health Boards should be able to provide up to date details of community mental health providers in each Archdeaconry 10.45am 10.50am 11.19am 11.19am 11.26am Hot Spot The Reverend Charles Noanoa and the Reverend Derek Keatley, Taita- Pomare Project Fresh Expression of Community Church Morning Tea Synod resumed Hot Spot The Reverend Michael Holland St Mark s Parish School Fresh Expression FINANCE COMMITTEE PRESENTATION Reverend Canon John Wilson, Reverend Christine Allport THAT Chris Pinfield, Chair of Finance Committee, be given leave to move during the Finance Presentation to Synod 11.27am FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORT Chris Pinfield, Reverend Christine Allport THAT the Report of the Finance Committee be received 10

In response to such generosity we encourage the Synod to set a target of $208,000 for 2009 (Synod Representatives are asked to note that the Overseas Mission Group is seeking an increase in this year s target. It is helpful that when Synod Representatives are voting on this Motion, that they are aware of the mind of their Ministry Units towards an increase in the Overseas Mission Target) AMENDMENT TO THE Reverend David Pask, Reverend Deacon Maureen Ellis THAT: The target for 2009 should be $280,000 The Motion was put 12.19pm 12.45pm 12.52pm 12.53pm 12.54pm 12.55pm 2.00pm 2.01pm Hot Spot John and Mary Rowan Good Shepherd Secondary School at Kagera Hot Spot Reverend John Neal Ministry at the Sharp End Dean Frank Nelson led a moment of silence to mark the death of Reverend Stephen Carney, past Principal Defence Chaplain Administrator s Announcements Grace Lunch Dean Frank Nelson spoke on the Cathedral Sesqui Service on All Saints Day Hot Spot Reverend Michael Watson Retreat in Daily Life 12
