OGHS supplies basic humanitarian aid to thousands more whose lives have been disrupted by disasters, both natural and human-made. Please give generously and be a blessing to others! You re invited to Easter dinner at Third Church TODAY Here s your chance to get to know our partners at Third Presbyterian Church: Join us TODAY at 1:00pm for a big Easter dinner at Third! The meal will be prepared by Knox and Third Church members, and will feature all the traditional Easter menu items. There s plenty of time to get from Knox to Third! It s free, too, but we will accept donations. Tickets available today for Fiddler on the Roof Tickets to the Knox Youth Group production of Fiddler on the Roof are available. You won t want to miss the KYG interpretation of this Broadway standard with songs like If I Were a Rich Man, Sunrise, Sunset, Tradition and many others. The premier performance is Friday, April 15 at 7:00pm. And on Sunday, April 17, your ticket includes dinner at 6:00pm, followed by the show at 7:00pm. Tickets are available for a donation. All proceeds will benefit the youth programs at Knox and Third church. Tickets are available at Coffee and Conversation, from any youth group member, or you can reserve them at knox.org.

2 Make a joyful noise: new hymnals are coming! New hymnal faceplate order form. Fill in and return with your check to the church office or drop in the offering plate. Music is a central and much-loved part of worship at Knox. The singing of hymns is an especially rich tradition at Knox and throughout Presbyterianism and new music is constantly being added to that tradition. After many years of joyful use, we re retiring our old blue hymnals and replacing them with new ones entitled Glory to God. These new hymnals, which will be in our pews on May 8, contain more than 800 hymns, psalms and spiritual songs. Glory to God also contains music from six continents, and covers all major historical and contemporary sacred genres. These new hymnals will be a wonderful aid to the Knox worship experience! You can help support the cost of the new hymnals by dedicating a hymnal to a family member or other loved one at a cost of just $ Your dedications will include a faceplate that will be permanently affixed to the inside front of the hymnal. To order a dedication faceplate, use the form on knox.org or at the Michigan Avenue desk. Orders must be received by April 25. Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth. West End Emergency Center needs your volunteer help The West End Emergency Center/Food Bank has been a Knox Mission Partner since the 1980s. WEEC provides food to the impoverished West End community and teaches cooking and nutrition skills to its clients. It also runs Power Inspires Progress, a program that provides pre-employment education to help adults develop employment skills through training at its restaurant, Venice on Vine. The WEEC clothes closet provides everyday clothing for all, and clothes suitable for interviews and work for adults. WEEC needs more volunteers, including Food Pantry helpers, pre-employment trainers, mentors and tutors, and board members who can help guide its mission in the future. If you can sort clothes and food, drive a truck to pick up groceries, mentor or tutor, or provide administrative or fund-raising expertise, please the volunteer coordinator, Terrasita Loftin, at ms.terrasitaloftin@yahoo.com, or call on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. Class is taught by a registered yoga teacher and focuses on breath, advanced-beginning yoga poses, and meditation. NEW class: Christianity and the environment What is the obligation and role of Christians and Christianity in managing the earth s resources and environment? Or do we even have an obligation? Join Madeleine Ludlow for two idea-provoking classes on that topic! Adults are encouraged to attend both lunch-and-learns, April 5 and April 12, at 11:30am in the Session Room (bring your own lunch). Madeleine will teach a children's version at Sunday school on April 10 and 24 in the 4-6 grade room. NOTE: on April 17, children will be doing an outdoor service project (planting flowers, watering landscaping, etc.). Please have them dress appropriately! Coming soon -- Revelation: the politics, the poetry, the peace On April 10, Adam will begin a three-part sermon series on one of the least-understood books of the Bible, Revelation. Join us as he unravels and demystifies the incredible story in John s book, and be comforted by its ultimate message of the coming peace of God s new kingdom. In addition to the sermon series, we will host a dinner and Revelation 101 class beginning at 6:00pm on Wednesday, April 27. More details coming soon. 6 April 23: It s another Knox Movie Night Join us for a movie, serious munchies, and a discussion of The Last Station, at the home of Alexa and Jim Naramore. The film is based on the last year of Leo Tolstoy s life. Christopher Plummer and Helen Mirren are magnificent, says Ed McNulty in the Visual Parables Journal. The condominiums next to Knox have taken longer to build than planned, so we ve had to do without the playground on that side of our building. However, our agreement with the developer will provide a larger, enhanced playground when exterior construction of the building is largely done this summer. It will be worth the wait! Meanwhile, we are repairing and revitalizing the playground on the Michigan Avenue side for use through the spring. Questions? Announcements and Opportunities David Annett to be ordained today David Annett, Knox s Director of Youth Ministries & Fresh Spirit Worship, will be ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament this afternoon at 3:00pm in the Sanctuary.
