2 2 Adult Sunday School 9:45 AM in the Peace Chapel Please come and join us on Sunday mornings from 9:45 10:45 to study and learn together. We meet in the Parish House Chapel. Here is what we have in store the first three Advent Sundays in December. December 2, 9, 16 Waiting with Elizabeth and Mary (Facilitated by Mary Grace McCoy [2 nd and 16 th ] & Nancy Corson Carter [9 th ]) As a continuation of our focus from November of the feminine in our spiritual journey, this series will provide further opportunities to spend time with women s stories that are central to the unfolding of our Christmas narrative. The visit of Elizabeth and Mary is one of the Bible's most beautiful expressions of what it means to form community, to be gathered around a promise, to affirm for each other that something is happening that is worth waiting for. Waiting is not popular in our society and culture today; it is often considered to be a waste of time, a dry desert between where we are and where we wish to be. In these three mornings of reflection, we will wait with Mary and Elizabeth as well as with some of our foremothers in faith (Rahab, Tamar, Bathsheba, and Ruth), as we seek to discover some of the qualities that made their waiting fruitful instead of stagnant. Please plan to join us as we practice "joyful waiting" during the Advent season. December 23 and 30 Holiday Break, no Adult Ed Sunday School January 6 Epiphany (Allison Davidson) The New Year for Adult Ed Classes will begin on January 6. Allison Davidson will facilitate a session on meaning of Epiphany in our Christian tradition to close out the Christmas season. The next Adult Ed Committee meeting will be December 13 at 6:30 in the Library. You are invited to join our meetings any time. Contact Bron Skinner ( ) for more information, or if you have ideas you want the Committee to consider for Adult Sunday School. MANY WAYS TO PRAY You are cordially invited to join us for Wednesday Evening Prayer Reimagined, as we explore Many Ways to Pray. Join us the first Wednesday each month, from 7:00 to 7:45 (December 5). Each gathering will be unique, with time for silence, for intercession or for learning a new prayer practice. We meet in the Parish House Chapel. Everyone is welcome: Come as you are, whenever you can. Facilitators: Carol Eckerman, Nancy Corson Carter, Mark Davidson, and Allison Davidson SAVE THE DATE for our next Rec POETRY WEEKEND February 24, Saturday Poetry Workshop and Sunday Morning Poetry "Free For All" reading at the Sunday School hour. Sunday at 5:00 PM Rec Poetry Circle Reading. GREENING OF THE REC! We will decorate our worship space Saturday, December 8 th, from 1:00 to 3:00 or whenever we finish. Please drop by and help make our church beautiful for Advent and Christmas. Please come, if only for an hour, and help the Worship Committee decorate the church. -- Courtney Chàvez, Worship Chair LET S DO THE NUMBERS Each month, Session will report key financial data about our church s budget.
