Nominations-Cathedral Chapter (Lay) Electing 1 lay & 1 clerical member, not Cathedral parishioners, from congregations in St. Louis city or St. Louis county Dr. Phyllis Jacobson Mithen St. John s Church, Tower Grove (St. Louis) Mr. Rudy Walz Emmanuel Church, Webster Groves I am willing to stand for Lay Member of the Cathedral Chapter. I had extensive vestry experience at the former St. Andrews in Northwoods, including a term as senior warden. I also helped represent the parish in the Kemper Convocation. After St. Andrew s closed, I was a member of the Cathedral, leaving only to support my daughter s ministry at St. John s. While at the Cathedral, I taught church school for two years, sang in the choir one year, participated in Just Faith and Alpha and became a member of the Community of Hope in the only Cathedral training so far. Since about 2000, I have helped with Miss Carol s Breakfast once a month, including leading Morning Prayer. Finally, I keep a copy of the Cathedral Directory and pray for the listed members quite regularly. I moved to St. Louis in 1983 and have been a member of Trinity Church in Central West End, Christ Church Cathedral, and my present home, Emmanuel in Webster Groves. After 30 years of retail management, I am now a nurse assistant at a long-care living center in South County. I have been a Convention delegate for two terms, a member of Metro III twice, Diocesan Council for two years, treasurer of the Task Force for the Hungry, and am presently Chair of the New Ventures Committee. I have worked with the Cathedral Homeless Shelter, Peace Meal at St. Johns, St. Louis and the Emmanuel Food Pantry. At Emmanuel I have been blessed to be a co-founder and leader of the CityStreets program, which helps feed the homeless in the city. I have participated in mission trips: a diocesan trip to New Orleans and several Emmanuel trips to Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. I am running for Cathedral Chapter because I believe the Cathedral is a very important part of the life of the diocese, and would like to see it continue to be a vital part of re-building downtown St. Louis. I have a reputation for listening intently to what is being discussed at meetings and conference tables, then adding my thoughts after careful consideration. I would like to see the Cathedral become a home for all the churches in the diocese and am eager to serve to make that happen. Nominations-Cathedral Chapter (Clergy) Electing 1 lay & 1 clerical member, not Cathedral parishioners, from congregations in St. Louis city or St. Louis county The Rev. Robert Ard Priest-in-charge, St. Paul s Church, Carondelet (St. Louis) The Rev. Michael Dunnington Priest-in-charge, All Saints Church, St. Louis Dear Delegates, I would be a good candidate for Cathedral Chapter because I am a good listener who is level-headed and a non-reactive presence in meetings. I know both Mike and Amy well, and have worked with them in the past. I will take the job as chapter member seriously, but I will not push an agenda that I want or must have. In Christ, Robert+ I am now finishing the two-year term of the Rev. Emily Bloemker (elected to Chapter in 2010, who subsequently accepted a call in the Diocese of New York). I have learned a lot these past two years, and I would like to use that experience now in my own three-year term, to continue helping enhance the ministry of Christ Church Cathedral to its congregation, to the Diocese, and to the greater St. Louis community. As Priest-in-charge of All Saints in St. Louis, I bring the added experience of leading another urban St. Louis congregation that deals with similar financial, maintenance, and neighborhood issues as those confronting Christ Church Cathedral. As a clergyperson in the Diocese of Missouri, I see the ministry of serving on Cathedral Chapter as an opportunity to 2 The 174 th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, Nov , 2013, Chesterfield, Missouri

Nominations- Cathedral Chapter (Clergy) Electing 1 lay & 1 clerical member, not Cathedral parishioners, from congregations in St. Louis city or St. Louis county The Rev. Michael Dunnington, continued be an instrument of communication to and from my clergy colleagues and other congregations of the Diocese, in addition to working to further the mission of the Cathedral. The Rev. Emily Hillquist Davis Vicar of St. Thomas Deaf Church, Assisting Priest at St. Martin s Church in Ellisville Christ Church Cathedral is 1.) a congregation; 2.) a hub for our worship, ministry, and identity as a diocese; and 3.) a holy connection in the moral and social life of St. Louis City. These identities overlap. They refresh each other when notable successes occur on the congregational, diocesan, or civic level. Yet I m sure there is also tension when different arenas of ministry seem to compete for resources. To thrive as a Cathedral means to function well on all these levels. What I can offer Cathedral Chapter: 1.) Perspectives from growing up in other dioceses and participating in seven very different congregations in our diocese as a lay and now ordained person. 2.) Excitement about our Cathedral s growing participation in St. Louis civic life and a vision for our potential to make a difference. As an ardent supporter of Magdalene St. Louis that strives to help women get off the streets, I recently learned in conversation with an alderman that our Cathedral hosted a panel on homelessness that included business, government, and community outreach representatives, as well as home- Nominations- Diocesan Council less persons an opportunity for all parties to hear one another. I believe greater presence in the civic arena will draw more participation on the congregational level. What I hope to gain from Cathedral Chapter: Ideas about how my current congregations can function better within their diocesan and civic contexts and especially how my little Deaf congregation might become a holy connection in the moral and social life of the wider Deaf community. The Rev. Mark Kozielec St. Mark s Church in St. Louis When I came to the Diocese of Missouri from the Diocese of New Hampshire, which does not have a cathedral, one of the things that I looked forward to was being part of the cathedral experience. If the episcopate helps to define our catholicity (and our identity as Episcopalians), then it is through the cathedral that individuals and parishes gather to celebrate and enact their relationship to the larger diocese. This was one reason why St. Mark s chose to have their 2013 Vestry Retreat at the Cathedral. Over the last year I have watched with excitement as the Cathedral Chapter has been discerning what role(s) the Cathedral will play as it moves forward in being a resource for all people and parishes of the diocese. I would very much like to be a part of this continuing process. Electing 2 at-large lay members William R. Gilbert, II, PhD St. Peter s Church in Ladue As a nearly life-long member of Saint Peter s Episcopal Church, Bill serves in the parish as Acolyte Master, Eucharistic minister, member of Diversity Task Force, and Convener of the Outreach Committee and past Vestry Secretary. For the past fourteen years, he has been an active member of the Diocesan Commission on Dismantling Racism. As a community volunteer, he has served as board member of several community non-profits including Beyond Housing, the National Conference for Community and Justice of Metropolitan St. Louis, Bridges Across Racial Polarization Steering Committee and a member of the Sigel School and Roosevelt High School Community Councils. It is important to Bill, especially in these difficult economic times and as Church membership is declining and growing older, that the Church seek to engage a younger and more diverse membership. This must be accomplished while maintaining fiscal responsibility. He would consider it a privilege to serve on the Diocesan Council to strive to fulfill our tasks with joy and purpose. 3 Nominations- Diocesan Council Electing 2 at-large lay members Ms. Margaret Rowe Emmanuel Church in Webster Groves As a member of Emmanuel for twenty years, and previously a member of St. Matthews in Warson Woods, Margaret has considered it important for members of every parish to be active participants in the diocese and believes that a strong diocese is important to maintaining strong parishes. She was a delegate to Convention while at St. Matthew s, serving as President of Metro III during that term, and she is currently a delegate from Emmanuel. She has served on the vestry at both churches. At Emmanuel, in addition to being a chalice bearer and lay reader, Margaret has taught Church School, served as Deputy for Christian Education, and led Children s Liturgy. She is a team leader in cooking for CityStreets and helps with the shopping for Emmanuel s food pantry. As a member of Metro III, she was an active participant in rehabbing a room at the Deaconess Anne House. At the diocesan level, she was a member of the Commission for Dismantling Racism, served a term as its chairperson, planned programs, and helped develop and lead workshops across the Diocese. Margaret would consider it a privilege to serve the Diocese on the Diocesan Council and to support the diocesan priorities of being inclusive and working with those who are marginalized in any way. Ms. Sylvia Thomas Church of the Ascension in Northwoods Back in August 2013, I received a call from a church friend would I be willing to be nominated to serve on the Diocesan Council? I pondered my response for about a week and decided that yes, that is something with which I would like to be involved. Soon after, I had second thoughts; if accepted will I be able to provide the kind of service that is expected? I also felt this could be an opportunity to serve God one that I was about to turn down. I do not know that I got a call from God, but I realized that there are many ways that God can call one to service. There is the inner call that may come through the Holy Spirit or there is the outer call, which is really a call for duty by those who know us and recommend us. I remembered reading long ago that calling people is a vital part of God s work in this world, and that we can be called in different ways. While at Grace Episcopal Church in Jefferson City, I served a two year term in the vestry, and represented the parish for three years on the Commission on Ministry. I also served in the Discernment Committee of a church member who is now an ordained priest. I now live in St. Louis and have joined the congregation at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. I have decided that I need to respond to this call and serve in the very best way that I can. Nominations- Disciplinary Board (Lay) Electing 1 lay and 2 clerical members Ms. Krista Baker Trinity Church in Kirksville During my 27 years in the Episcopal Church, I have grown in respect and love for the Church. Serving the Disciplinary Board would be an honor, allowing me to serve the Diocese and bring my insights and experiences to the Board. I am deeply familiar with the tradition, doctrine, and discipline of the Episcopal Church by serving in many roles. In the Dioceses of Alabama and Missouri, I served on search committees, the Altar Guild, and chaired stewardship campaigns. In Alabama I was chair of the capital campaign for my congregation. At Trinity/Kirksville, I was a member of the Bishop s Committee, serving as Bishop s Warden and am currently the Treasurer. These positions have given me a valuable perspective on the financial aspects of the church. Through these activities and responsibilities, I have become familiar with the governance of the Church. I am impressed by the fairness, gracious wording, and thoroughness of the policies and procedures which govern the Episcopal Church. While serving in a leadership position in my congregation, I dealt with a difficult situation of clergy misconduct. I had the opportunity to serve the larger church, with its need to follow guidelines and rules as defined in the Canons, while ministering to and with my deeply injured congregation. This experience has influenced my relationship with clergy and fellow parishioners, providing a good reference for the Disciplinary Board. I believe I am well prepared to serve the Disciplinary Board s mandates of reconciliation and discipline. 4 The 174 th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, Nov , 2013, Chesterfield, Missouri

Nominations- Disciplinary Board (Lay) Electing 1 lay and 2 clerical members Ms. Adrienne Fly Trinity Church in St. Louis Ms. Jane Klieve St. Martin s Church in Ellisville I have been an Episcopalian all of my 69 years and during my several decades in St. Louis have belonged to Grace Church, Kirkwood and Trinity Church, St. Louis. I am married to the Rev. David K. Fly. From 1998 until 2002, I was the executive director of the Episcopal City Mission and am currently the coordinator of the Trinity Food Ministry. I would appreciate being considered for this opportunity to serve the diocese in a new way, but one for which I have some useful background. I am an now-retired lawyer (St. Louis University 1975). During the last 13 years of my active practice I was an attorney for the Missouri Supreme Court Disciplinary Counsel, the system that investigates and disciplines attorneys for unethical practice. During the 1990s I served as the Public Member of the Missouri Dental Board and am currently the Public Member of the Missouri State Board of Nursing. In that role, for each of those state regulatory boards, I worked with colleagues in those two professions on issues of licensure and the investigation of misconduct of Missouri s dentists, dental hygienists, and nurses. The legislature delegates to us as a board the power to impose discipline up to and including revocation of the licensee s right to practice in the state. This experience would be helpful in considering clergy misconduct. The Disciplinary Board exists to help in cases where clergy have been presented with charges under the Ecclesiastical Disciplinary Canons (Title IV) of the National Canons. The work of this body is challenging and requires faithful attendance to the dual responsibilities of seeking conciliation and providing due process under Canon Law. My professional background in Human Resource Management provides an excellent foundation for this work. Over the last 30 years, there have been many times I was called to address challenging personnel situations, and had to maintain a commitment to finding the best path forward for both the individual and the organization. In addition, I have benefited from the opportunity to participate in many church leadership positions including vestry, search committees, Diocesan Council, and Standing Committee. Several years ago, I was elected to complete an unexpired term of one year on the Disciplinary Board. This occurred at the time that the new Canons were implemented and I served as President during that year. That experience gave me a deep appreciation of our faithful process and leads to my desire to seek a full term on this Board. I believe that I could be an effective, faithful contributor if elected. I am a lifelong Episcopalian and our family has attended St. Martin s Church since My husband and I enjoy singing in the choir. In addition, I am completing a term on the vestry and co-chairing the 2020 Strategic Planning Task Force. Nominations- Disciplinary Board (Clergy) Electing 1 lay and 2 clerical members The Rev. Marshall Crossnoe Vicar of St. Alban s Church, Fulton, and St. Mark s Church in Portland Marshall serves St. Alban s, Fulton, and St. Mark s, Portland as their part-time vicar in addition to teaching at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. Anyone who knows Marshall, would tell you that he goes over and above with dedication: in teaching, in his service to the communities he lives in, and service to the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri. He is a historian, preacher, and teacher, and has a talent for working with groups of individuals for the benefit of all involved. He has served on one of the disciplinary boards at Lincoln University for four years and would bring his knowledge of the disciplinary process as well as his sensitivity to the often delicate nature of this role to the work of the board. He would be well suited to serve on this board and would do so both fairly and prayerfully if so elected. Biographical information is supplied by nominees and/or nominators. 5 Nominations- Disciplinary Board (Clergy) Electing 1 lay and 2 clerical members The Rev. Catherine Hillquist Vicar of St. Paul's Church in Ironton, Priest-in-charge of All Saints Church in Farmington I am an Episcopalian by choice. For more than thirty years I actively participated as a lay person in congregations and diocesan level commissions and task forces in the Dioceses of Southern Virginia, Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Los Angeles. Since coming to the Diocese of Missouri as a priest nearly thirteen years ago, I have served 2 terms on Diocesan Council, one term on the Standing Committee, two terms on Cathedral Chapter, and one term on the Nominating Committee. I have served as vicar of the congregations of St. Paul s Ironton for nearly thirteen years and also as Priest-incharge of All Saints Church in Farmington for the last four years. In each situation it has been my goal to present the needs and issues of congregations, particularly those outside the St. Louis area. Before being ordained in the Church, I was in management and finance in both private business and governmental agencies. I believe that my experience in the broader Episcopal Church and my knowledge and understanding of the concerns of our diocesan congregations qualify me to serve the church on the Disciplinary Board. characteristically been perceived as balanced, fair, and just, yet able to stand up for difficult decisions when necessary. Also, because of my part-time and non-stipendiary basis in the Diocese I have some distance that would likely limit any potential bias. In addition, diplomacy is my strong suit and I am trained professionally for leadership situations. The Rev. Beverly Van Horne Trinity Church in St. Louis Beverly Van Horne has been in the Diocese since 2001, coming here from the Diocese of Hawaii. During that time she has served on Diocesan Council and helped to develop the set of guidelines for same-sex blessings in the Diocese of Missouri. She has been the Priest-in-charge of Trinity Church in Jefferson County (De Soto), the Interim Dean of the Episcopal School for Ministry, and currently is an Associate Priest at Trinity Church in the Central West End. She is thoroughly familiar with the workings of the various institutions of the Diocese, and with many congregations and folks throughout the Diocese. She has a calm, steady, thoughtful temperament that combined with this experience, would make her a good member of the Disciplinary Board. The Rev. John Kilgore Canon Minor, Christ Church Cathedral At the request of the Diocesan Nominating Committee, I have prayerfully considered the request to serve on the Diocesan Disciplinary Board. I understand that it meets infrequently and hopefully not at all. However, the occasions for its meeting have serious implications for the many lives touched by clergy of this Diocese. As a more senior member, by age, of the group of diocesan clergy I have significant life experience that gives me a deep background for same. I have served in medical administration for over twenty years and have dealt with a number of similar circumstances in the medical community. I have Biographical information is supplied by nominees and/or nominators. 6 The 174 th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, Nov , 2013, Chesterfield, Missouri

Nominations- General Convention (Lay) Electing 8 deputies: 4 lay and 4 clerical members. Electing an equal number of provisional (alternate) deputies (4 lay, 4 clerical) by the order of election. Dr. Michael Booker St. Francis Church in Eureka In 2012 I attended the 77th General Convention in Indianapolis as a guest and found the experience to be utterly amazing. I would dearly appreciate the privilege of being able to attend the 78th General Convention as a Lay Deputy for the Diocese of Missouri. I have been an Episcopalian since 1991 and have been a parishioner at St. Francis in Eureka/Wildwood since At St. Francis my primary ministry has been Adult Education, something that I dearly love. I also serve as usher, chalice bearer, lector, and intercessor. I have served on the Bishop s Committee at St. Francis and also as Junior Warden and as Senior Warden. In 2012, I graduated from the Episcopal School for Ministry. I am currently a member of the ESM Board and also a member of the Commission on Ministry. During the week I am the Division Chair of Communication and Fine Arts at Jefferson College in Hillsboro; I am also a tenured Professor of Philosophy. I have served in the Army Reserve and hold the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Michael Clark Christ Church Cathedral I have seen the movement of the Holy Spirit in our church polity at General Convention. I believe that gathering for the business of the Church in prayer, study, and work sessions continually gives us chances to receive new ways to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus to a broken and hungry world. 7 Nominations- General Convention (Lay) Electing 8 deputies: 4 lay and 4 clerical members. Electing an equal number of provisional (alternate) deputies (4 lay, 4 clerical) by the order of election. Ms. Kathy Dyer St. Timothy s Church in Creve Coeur Kathy Dyer is a member of St. Timothy s in Creve Coeur, where she currently works with outreach and is a member of the bell choir. Kathy is a defense attorney and she returned to practice law part-time in 2007, after being at home full-time with her two children for about 10 years. Kathy volunteers for the St. Louis County Older Residents Program (CORP) both as a lawyer and as a tax preparer. She also prepares taxes as a volunteer through AARP at several locations in St. Louis County. Kathy has been an active member of the Diocesan Resolutions Committee for over a decade and is currently serving as chair. She has actively participated in the ministry of the Episcopal City Mission for 20 years, by tutoring youth in detention, and since 2003, working with the Reading is Fundamental program at the Lakeside Detention Center. She has previously served as deputy to general convention (2006, 2009, and 2012), General Convention Credential Committee member (2012), diocesan convention delegate, convocation secretary, convocation president, Diocesan Flower Festival Committee member, and member of the Board of Directors for Grace Hill Neighborhood Health Centers. Ms. Lisa Fox Grace Church in Jefferson City Our diocese includes diverse perspectives, a search for common ground, and faithful witness to the Gospel we share. We add to this tapestry as we are shaped by it. As a General Convention (GC) Deputy in 2012, I sought to pursue that vision, and I yearn to serve again in As a Deputy in 2012, I worked faithfully, attending monthly preparatory meetings, participating in pre/post-gc listening sessions, listening to and honoring everyone s concerns. At GC12, I participated in the Committee on Structure, which successfully proposed creating a Task Force on Restructuring the Episcopal Church and I look forward to their report to GC2015. I supported the liturgy of same-sex blessings, proposals to streamline TEC structure, and rites for animal blessings. I voted against resolutions that seemed more about politics than mission. I have been an active member of Grace since I arrived in I have served on the vestry (during interim and call processes), Stewardship Committee, Community Ministry Committee, in many liturgical roles, and chaired two discernment committees. I was a missioner to Lui (2006) and chaired our Companion Diocese Committee for four years. I have been a Con- vention Delegate many times and served on the Nominating Committee for six years. Our Bishop appointed me to the challenging work of the Anglican Covenant Task Force and the Working Group on Same-Sex Blessings. As a GC Deputy, I hope to give voice to the richness of discipleship in our Diocese and share the diverse voices of our Church. Mr. Jay Kloecker St. Peter s Church in Ladue I originally came to the Episcopal Church from the Roman Catholic Church, and was immediately drawn to the idea of a church governed by all of its faithful members bishops, clergy and laity. When I perceived that change was needed after the General Convention of 2006, I ran for Deputy, and have been deeply involved ever since. I have been privileged to represent all of you as a Deputy to General Convention for the past six years. It has been a fulfilling and enlightening journey, meeting people in the Diocese, hearing your feelings, concerns and input, interacting with other people of faith from all corners of the Episcopal Church, and then, finally, distilling those conversations into resolutions and legislation, and literally voting on the future of the church at General Convention meetings. The Diocese of Missouri s deputation is never content with merely allowing events to unfold around it, and neither am I. We take an active part in conversations on every issue, and contribute significantly to many final decisions. My service at previous General Conventions, as well as on Diocesan and Provincial bodies over the last several years will make me a more effective Deputy, and an even better voice for the Diocese of Missouri. I would be honored to serve once again as part of Missouri s deputation for the next three years. 8 Nominations- General Convention (Clergy) Electing 8 deputies: 4 lay and 4 clerical members. Electing an equal number of provisional (alternate) deputies (4 lay, 4 clerical) by the order of election. The Rev. Daniel Appleyard Rector, Emmanuel Church. Webster Groves Dan Appleyard has been elected as a Deputy and Alternate Deputy to General Convention on 7 occasions: Deputy, 2012, 2009, 2006, 2003 & 1991; and Alternate, 1997 & He currently serves on the Standing Committee for World Mission ( ). He has also served as: on the Legislative Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations (Chair, 2012 and member, 2006 and 2009 General Conventions; a member of The Standing Commission on Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations, (SCEIR), , and Chair of its Interreligious Relations Subcommittee ( ); the Ecumenical Officer of the Diocese of Michigan, ; a Community Advisor for the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion, Detroit from (formally the National Coalition for Community and Justice - NCCJ, Detroit, MI); and member, of the Bridging the Congregational Divide Task Force in Detroit, MI (Anti-Racism), 2003 to At the appointment of the Archbishop of Canterbury, he was a Chair and member of the Advisory Committee of the Anglican Observer to the United Nations from , which focused on the Millennium Development Goals as their mission priorities since Appleyard is currently the Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Webster Groves, MO. Previous to that he was Rector of Christ Episcopal Church in Dearborn, MI for 16 years an area that has one of the largest gathering of people of Arab descent living outside of the Middle East. He has also served for 7 years at St. Luke s Shawnee, KS, and Grace Church Kirkwood, MO for 3 years. The Rev. Jason Samuel Rector, Church of the Transfiguration Jason Samuel has been a priest in the Diocese of Missouri since January 1997 when he took on a re-start of a congregation. This congregation is now one of our parishes seeking to serve Christ in their communities with the good news of the gospel through the Episcopal Church. The Episcopal Church and our diocese are still in a time where we are seeking to clarify our identity and mission in the rural, suburban, and urban areas to people of all ages and cultures. We made some first steps toward this at our 2012 General Convention. I believe we need to continue to commit to this task, and take the opportunity to do this in a world that asks why they should consider the Episcopal Making Disciples Building Congregations For the Life of the World Church or Christianity. We need to seek how we speak boldly to the gift we have to offer as this unique part of the Body of Christ and how to live into the mission of the gospel. I have sought to participate in leadership in mission, through growth of our congregation becoming a parish, and in our diocese through serving on Standing Committee, Diocesan Council, and General Convention Deputy. As much as governance and legislation can be tedious, it is important to the daily life of the church as we seek to be faithful in little and in much. If elected, I will seek to fulfill the duties of this position entrusted to me, to be a good steward of the restructuring process we are experiencing, and that our funding and energy is based first in mission, service and witness to the gospel. The Rev. Johnnette Shane Vicar, Trinity Church in Kirksville The Rev. Johnnette Shane is a lifelong Episcopalian who believes strongly that mission is at the heart of work of the Church and in the heart of God. She has served small and medium sized churches in small towns and large metropolitan areas. Her congregants would agree that she trusts that all are called to ministry, and that the vocation of laity is crucial to the Kingdom of God and to the future of the Church. Having spent much of her adult life as a lawyer, she is a bridge builder. She has worked on Anti-racism committees in three parishes and two dioceses. She currently serves as vicar in Trinity Episcopal Church in Kirksville, a small Oasis congregation with a great choir, a great heart, and an active campus ministry, in rural northeast Missouri. The Rev. Mark Sluss Archdeacon, Christ Church Cathedral I have been a deacon in this diocese since my ordination in February of I have served on the Commission on Ministry and have served our bishop as Archdeacon of the diocese. I have attended the Archdeacon-directors of formation conference hosted by the Association of Episcopal Deacons, and have attended an inter-diocesan conference on theological education. These conferences investigated new ways of providing theological education for those in the process for ordination. This need of the church, as well as the voice of the diaconate, is a need at General Convention. As Archdeacon I believe that I am the best candidate to bring those two needs of the church to convention. I also feel that I can bring the concerns of the Diocese of Missouri to the wider church. I can communicate our passion for social justice, 9

Nominations- General Convention (Clergy) The Rev. Mark Sluss, continued our focus on ministry to the poor, and our delight at being in a companion relationship to the Diocese of Lui. The Diocese of Missouri can stand as an example of cooperation in the polarizing ends of our Church. We have both conservative and liberal views in our region and we strive to bring each of those views into the vision of how our Lord is working in our diocese. We are a story that the wider Church needs to hear. The Rev. Doris Westfall Associate Rector, Grace Church in Kirkwood I would be honored to be elected again to serve as a General Convention Deputy. My serving at the 2012 General Convention was both a holy and humbling experience. It is a privilege to serve the Diocese and the larger church in such a capacity. In my nine years of ordained ministry I have served parishes across the Diocese as Pastoral Associate at Trinity-St. Charles, interim at Washington University Episcopal Campus Ministry, and as long-term supply clergy at Grace Church in Clarksville, St. John s in Eolia, and St. Matthew s in Mexico. I have spent the last seven years as Rector of St. Matthew s Church in Warson Woods and now am Associate Rector of Grace-Kirkwood. I am grateful for the breadth of this experience as it has given me a sense of rural, urban, and suburban issues faced by our Church today. Leading St. Matthew s through the hard but holy work of identifying our mission, culminating in our merger with Grace-Kirkwood, has given me a unique experience and vantage point to work on the challenges facing our diocese and wider Church. I have served the diocese as a member of Standing Committee, Cathedral Chapter, Diocesan Commission on Youth Ministry, Missional Design Team, and as a Diocesan Trustee for the University of the South. I have been married to David Westfall for 31 years and we have three sons: Christopher, a First Lieutenant in the Air Force; Stephen, a sophomore at Mizzou; and Robert, a high school Senior. The Rev. Tamsen Whistler Rector, Trinity Church in St. Charles I am honored to accept a nomination for Deputy to General Convention. I have been privileged to serve as a Deputy to the last four Gen- Electing 8 deputies: 4 lay and 4 clerical members. Electing an equal number of provisional (alternate) deputies (4 lay, 4 clerical) by the order of election. eral Conventions, and each time have been moved by the commitment, passion, and love for the Church expressed in the discussions and decisions of the Bishops and Deputies. It s both exciting and humbling to participate in the work of the wider Church, and in 2015, an opportunity for significant structural change. I have been rector of Trinity Church in St. Charles for 18 years. Before accepting a call to St. Charles, I was associate rector at Calvary Church in Columbia for nine-plus years and assistant at Grace Church in Jefferson City for two years. I was ordained a deacon at Christ Church Cathedral on June 15, 1984 and a priest at Grace Church in Jefferson City on February 24, I am currently clerical representative to Diocesan Council for Kemper Convocation. I have served on Council previously, both as a lay person and a priest, and also on the Standing Committee, the Board of Examining Chaplains, Congregational Development, Christian Education, several other committees, and on planning teams for various diocesan events. I have been a GOE (General Ordination Examination) reader for twelve years. In November 2013, Robert Brown and I will celebrate 30 years of marriage. We have a 19-year-old son, Will, who is a sophomore at Missouri University for Science and Technology in Rolla, and also three cats. As it was submitted after canonical deadline, the following nomination must be approved by convention for consideration. The Rev. Pat Glenn Rector, Calvary Church in Louisiana and St. John s Church in Eolia Pat Glenn moved to Pike County in 1975, and became a member of Calvary Church. She was ordained to the priesthood in 2007, and has been Calvary s rector, and the rector of St. John s Church in Eolia, since then. She served on Diocesan Council from 2007 through 2011, elected by convocation. She has served on the Commission on Ministry since 2010, and was elected Chair in A retired registered nurse, she is married to Dr. Edward Glenn, retired general surgeon. They have five children and four grandchildren. Pat has been active in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the Louisiana Ministerial Alliance, and served on the local school board. The Louisiana Missouri Chamber of Commerce named her Citizen of the Year at their annual banquet and ceremony April 6, The 174 th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, Nov , 2013, Chesterfield, Missouri

Nominations- Standing Committee (Lay) Electing 1 clerical and 2 lay members Mr. Richard Entenman Grace Church in Kirkwood I have been given many blessings in my life, as most of us have, but have not always discerned God s call to me. However, the possibility of participating in this diocese as a member of the Standing Committee has been in my thoughts and prayers for the past year. My heart has gone back and forth, should I attempt a jump into diocesan leadership structure or not? Are my gifts something that can be used by the Standing Committee? The answer has become clearer to me, so here I go. Through my career God provided me opportunities as a senior level manager in a major manufacturing company experiences I continue to draw upon today. Additionally, my parish roles have included: Junior Warden, Senior Warden, Personnel Leader, Stewardship Leader, and Search Team Chair. I learned from my career and through these parish roles in two dioceses, that it takes a team of dedicated individuals to achieve success. I believe the team that is the Standing Committee should continue building on the foundation that has been laid, and provide vision for the Diocese and its parishes in order to meet the challenges of today s culture and environment. I strongly feel I could contribute positively to these tasks. I believe God has put me in this place and time, giving me time, tools, and talents that would allow me to serve the church well as a member of the Standing Committee. I pray you will consider me and what I have to offer. Mr. Richard Keyes Emmanuel Church in Webster Groves I began attending the Episcopal Church as a child and have been a member at Emmanuel since While at Emmanuel, I have been on the Vestry and recently served two years as Junior Warden. I have also been on the Executive Committee of the Vestry and the Finance Committee and currently chair the Stewardship Committee. I was also a member of the Emmanuel Church Foundation for two years, and have been on the board of Men of Emmanuel. I was an alternate delegate for Emmanuel at the 170th Convention. Such type of work experience is helpful for being a member of the Standing Committee as the committee is charged with being a council of advice to the Bishop. With this background I would bring experienced counsel to the Standing Committee and would be happen to represent all members of the diocese on this committee. As it was submitted after canonical deadline, the following nomination must be approved by convention for consideration. Mr. Stephen Robin St. Stephen s Church in Ferguson Stephen currently serves as a hospital chaplain for St. Stephen s Church. He served as pastoral associate while attending Eden Seminary, where he completed a Masters Degree in Divinity. He has served as a lay representative on the Cathedral Chapter (completing his three-year term in December 2010) and is currently serving a one-year term on the Standing Committee. At St. Stephen s he has served on the vestry, executive committee, strategic planning and discernment committee, building and grounds committee, worship committee and as a Lay Eucharistic Ministry, Lector, and preacher. With a BS Honors undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies, he is particularly interested in greening programs exploring ways a zero carbon footprint can enable churches to leave a legacy of zero utility costs to the next generation. Stephen also leads the Back to Church Sunday team developing ways to encourage people to come back to church, particularly those who want an Episcopal style of worship and liturgy. He is also part of the team developing a new Celtic influenced Sunday evening Communion service. Stephen leads a monthly movie night discussion based on the Apostles Creed, and a Bible study based on the daily study of the entire Bible in 365 days, teaching this in small groups and online through Facebook, Twitter, and a blog. Stephen has two children, Charles, a junior at Tufts University in Boston, and Elizabeth, a senior in High School at MICDS. I have been in the private practice of law for 28 years and have been involved with a wide variety of legal matters. Biographical information is supplied by nominees and/or nominators. 11 Nominations- Standing Committee (Clergy) Electing 1 clerical and 2 lay members The Rev. H. Knute Jacobson Rector, Calvary Church in Columbia Knute Jacobson has been serving as Calvary s Rector since He was educated at the University of Michigan, Yale University, Princeton Seminary, and the University of Toronto, where he also taught. Ordained to the priesthood in 1986, he has served parishes in Michigan, Texas, Louisiana, and West Virginia. Over the course of his ministry, he has taught in three diocesan schools of theology, been an examining chaplain in two dioceses, served on a Commission on Ministry, Executive Council, and Standing Committee (as vice-president). He has led a diocesan Dismantling Racism team, lead a diocesan-wide process to determine budget priorities, chaired a Family Life Task Force, and chaired an Environmental Task Force that brought Senator Gaylord Nelson to speak at a diocesan convention. Knute has also been involved in a variety of local boards, including an executive board of a local American Red Cross chapter and the Charleston, WV Religious Coalition for Community Renewal. Currently, he is working with other clergy and city officials to help establish a combined social services center in downtown Columbia, and is working with downtown Columbia clergy and representatives of Mizzou to bring Phyllis Tickle to Columbia to speak on emergent Christianity and what it means for today s established churches. Knute is standing for election to the Standing Committee because he enjoys working collegially with others to support and strengthen the mission of the diocese. He would consider it a privilege to serve on the Standing Committee. The Rev. Marc Smith Vicar, Church of the Ascension, Northwoods Although issues of human dignity, justice, and Christian discipleship are powerfully reflected in our Baptismal Covenant, as well as the policies and resolutions of our diocese, engaging them fully and consistently remains a constant challenge. Pressing for the needs of the marginalized, keeping their concerns at the forefront of our witness, and shaping a robust social ministry are objectives to which I am deeply committed. Prior to my ordination to the priesthood I had a 35-year career in academic medicine and health care leadership, in positions which afforded a unique opportunity to advocate for the care of the most vulnerable among us children, the poor, the elderly, and the disabled. More recently I was privileged to serve on the subcommittee that developed our diocese s response to General Convention s health plan resolution, and currently am a member of the Board of Trustees of the Episcopal Presbyterian Health Trust and diocesan Editorial Board. In addition, I have been active in expanding our congregation s food pantry and parish nursing initiatives, and organizing the faith community s advocacy for the expansion of Missouri s Medicaid program and pastoral response to the school transfer issue in metropolitan St. Louis. For the Ascension community in North St. Louis County where I serve, racial, social and economic justice is not an abstract matter of public or ecclesiastical policy. It is the very real challenge we confront every day. My prayerful hope is to bring our faith, voice and witness to the deliberations of Standing Committee and mission of the Church.
