3 WHY FASTING & PRAYER: Fasting is one of the most powerful spiritual disciplines of all the Christian disciplines. Through fasting and prayer, the Holy Spirit can transform your life. Fasting and prayer can also work on a much grander scale. According to Scripture, personal experience and observation, we are convinced that when God's people fast with a proper Biblical motive seeking God's face not His hand with a broken, repentant, and contrite spirit, God will hear from heaven and heal our lives, our churches, our communities, our nation and world. Fasting and prayer can bring about revival a change in the direction of our nation, the nations of earth and the fulfillment of the Great Commission. The awesome power can be released through you as you fast through the enabling of the Holy Spirit. Instructions We will begin our Corporate Fast on Monday, June 11, 2018 and end on Sunday, July 1, We will fast corporately 7 days a week (everyday) from 6am to 6pm by eliminating food during that time and joining together to pray as a Church Family. Those who are joining the corporate fast for the first time can begin with 6am to 12noon or 6am to 3pm and work their way up to 6am to 6pm. 4 10am Celebration Building Make your commitment with God, not with man. The arm of flesh will fail you, but God will sustain you in every spiritual endeavor. If you are fasting to impress men, you have your reward. Ask the Holy Spirit to clarify His leading and objectives for your prayer fast. This will enable you to pray more specifically and strategically. Know the purpose of your fast. CORPORATELY, WE ARE FASTING FOR SPIRITUAL, NUMERICAL AND FINANCIAL GROWTH FOR Action Chapel Baltimore: Dominion Center and speaking over the remaining months of 2018 that we will possess our gates and the gates of our enemies. We are fasting corporately for increase, enlargement and expansion for the ministry, and for the manifestation of that which God has promised each member for our Personally, why are you fasting? What gates, doors, and keys are you looking to possess? Be specific. Is it for spiritual renewal, for guidance, for healing, for the resolution of problems, for special grace to enter a door of increase, marriage, ministry, etc.? Write your issues, prayers, supplications down and be ready to hear God's answer or track your progress toward closure. Sometimes we can become so engaged in a spiritual activity, we lose sight of its intended purpose. When this happens, pride (spiritual pride) can be attached to fasting although fasting is supposed to produce humility. Fasting is about bringing the body into spiritual balance. An effective fast will produce long lasting health benefits. The outer body will reflect the state of the inner man. This fast is a Six to Six fast If you are breaking at six where will you be when you break? Will you be able to pray effectively if you are breaking at six? When you have set a time to break, identify and determine how can you highlight to yourself the fast is about prayer and spiritual issues more than food and obeying the urges of the flesh to eat at six? Plan, plan, plan. TIME CONSTRAINTS How much time will you commit to Prayer and Fasting? How many times a day will you join the prayerline? How much time will you pray, read, study, meditate and spend with God? How will you eliminate distractions due to other requirements? Buy a journal to record prayers, thoughts, etc. Write down in your journal all that God is saying from Day 1 of the Fast. If God tells you to go longer or to eliminate more, your writings will help to encourage you that what you are hearing is in line with your progress. DANGERS TO GUARD AGAINST The Bible doesn't speak at all on the physical dangers of fasting but please check with your doctor if you're on medication, pregnant or breast-feeding. Those who are breastfeeding may consider doing vegetables only or switching their fast from 6pm to 6am that means no eating after 6pm--period. Self-Preparation Prepare yourself spiritually. The longer you have to get ready for a long fast, the better. Don't talk yourself out of it if you haven't had enough time to prepare. For some of you, God has been asking for an audience in fasting and prayer with you for years. Begin the journey and pray for Grace to fulfill this spiritual requirement. page 4

5 Pray Psalm 51 daily. Confess every sin. Make sure there's no ill will or evil intention on your heart. Remove all rocks of offense. Seek forgiveness and forgive others immediately. Read from THE DAILY BIBLE READING PLAN EACH DAY. You can find it on the church website at Prepare yourself physically. Flush it out. Drink lots of water. Take a laxative or an enema. Rest as much as you can. Quick Tips Put yourself on a schedule. This helps to stabilize you. Read, study, pray In the morning, pray 30 minutes to an hour wake up specifically to pray. Join the church prayerline. In the afternoon, walk and pray during the time you would normally eat - In the evening, pray in your prayer room. o Create a meeting place for you and God. The body will begin to recognize this place over time and make certain adjustments. If you lay down, the body will go into rest mode. If you get in a posture of prayer, the body will adjust its systems for this activity. End the Fast gradually. Expect results. Do a Timeline in your Prayer Room. Put the Warfare on the wall and track answered prayer it will encourage you to keep going. Foundational Scriptures for Fasting Fasting is endorsed not merely by the teaching of Jesus, but also by His own personal example. Matt. 16:16-18, Mark 2:18-20, Luke 4: The New Testament Christians not only practiced fasting individually, as a part of their personal discipline, but also practiced it collectively, as their corporate ministry to God. Acts 13:1-3, Acts 14: From Acts 13 and 14, we realize that collective prayer and fasting played a vital note in the growth and development of the New Testament church. It was through prayer and fasting that the early Christians received direction and power from the Holy Spirit for decisions or tasks of special importance. Fasting enables us to humble ourselves before God. Psalm 38:13, Ps 69:10, 2 Chronicles 7:14. Fasting is a means by which a believer brings his/her body into subjection. 1 Corinthians 9:27. Fasting changes man, not God. God is omnipotent and unchanging. Fasting breaks down the barriers in man s carnal nature that stand in the way of the Holy Spirits omnipotence. Ephesians 3:20 Fasting is neither a gimmick nor a cure all. God has made total provision for the well being of his people in every area of their lives spiritually is one part of this provision. Fasting is not a substitute for any other part of God s provision. Fasting intensifies prayer and enables the believer to become more effective spiritually. Daniel 9:2,3; Daniel 10:1-14 Fasting empowers the believer to obtain deliverance, spiritual breakthroughs, answered prayers and victory. Isaiah 58:6, 2Chronicles 7:14, 15, 2Chronicles 20:1-30 Fasting prepares the believer to receive a fresh outpouring of the Spirit and the blessings of God. Joel 2:12-29 Fasting has medical benefits. Activate the blood of Jesus to speak for you and to superimpose every accusation against your life, the church and pastors of ACB Dominion Center. o Hebrews 12:24: You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel. Take authority over isolation and declare that ACB Dominion Center will not forsake the assembling of themselves together. o Hebrews 10:25 New Living Translation: And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Declare that between now and the end of the year, God will give you double blessing and breakthrough for your trouble, shame and rejection. o Isaiah 61:7: For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them. Hebrews 11:6 o Hebrews 11:6: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him Declare that the people of ACB Dominion Center will continue to have great testimonies through this fast. Pray that God will make you a spiritual pillar in His church and that you will continue to grow spiritually. o Galatians 2:9; And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. Pray for every person who steps into the church to experience the life changing power of God. o 1 Cor. 4:20: For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. Pray that the church will excel and grow in beauty, prospering spiritually, and financially. o 3 John 1:2: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. page 11
