4 OUR PURPOSE IN ZION is to be a growing, caring, community of believers in Christ who help strengthen one another through prayer and fellowship in Word and Sacrament to bring others to Christ. A NURSERY is provided on the lower level of the education unit for families with infants and small children; a television is available in the nursery, so you may listen and watch the worship service. There is a Changing Table located there. CHILDREN S ACTIVITY BAGS are available in the narthex. We ask that the activity bags be returned after the worship service. Thank you! 7 OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN IN JUNE (Planning ahead!) *Women s Weekly Bible study will continue the study of Proverbs: God s Gift of Wisdom on Monday, June 4 at 9:00 a.m. to do lesson #5. We will do lesson #6 on Monday, June 25. There will not be Bible study on May 28 or June 11. *The Lutheran Woman s Quarterly Bible study will meet on Monday, June 18 at 9:00 a.m. in the Fireside Room. The study, Prayer Gives My Life Balance, can be found on page 20 of the LWQ spring 2018 issue. Join us for this Bible study on prayer. *There will not be a ZLW meeting in June or July. Meetings will resume in August. * Women s Day Out will be at Perkins in Little Falls on Monday, June 18. We will meet there at 10:15 a.m. for brunch! Please note the change in time! LWML CONVENTION INGATHERINGS Deb Cermak and Kristin Olsen will be attending the 2018 LWML Minnesota North District Convention in Bemidji, June 18 & 19. An ingathering collection will be taken now through June 17. You may place your donations in the bin located in the coat room. Thank you for your donations to these worthy causes!! The organizations we are collecting for are: 1. Village of Hope promotes self-worth and independence by providing temporary shelter and supportive services for families experiencing homelessness. They assist in breaking the cycle of homelessness and encourage families to achieve their goals and dreams. 2. Northwoods Battered Women's Shelter. Their Mission: To provide crises shelter, victimcenter advocacy and supportive services for victim of intimate partner violence. This shelter serves Beltrami and Cass Counties in Minnesota. They provide emotional support, meals, items to meet basic needs (personal hygiene products and clothing) and transportation. Note: All items on list below need to be new. Store gift cards (Walmart/Target), gas cards, & hair cut cards. ($10-$20 cards) Toilet paper Laundry Detergent Reams of paper Bleach Trash bags - 33-gallon size Towels & wash clothes Full size shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lotion, bars of soap Diapers (all sizes) & wipes Nail care products (files, clippers, polish) Hair care products (dye, combs, brushes, hair spray, mousse, hair ties) Thank you for helping with this ingathering! 7

8 Family Ministry / Outreach Announcements MAY 27, 2018 CHILDREN S MINISTRY --- Children Message: GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD VBS GET READY FOR SPLASH CANYON STARTING NEXT WEEK MONDAY, JUNE 4 THROUGH JUNE 8! VBS is coming next week. Invite your friends to come with you for a fun, action packed week of games, crafts, singing and Bible adventure. Registration forms have been handed out, however it is NOT too late to invite your friends. We have extra registrations available for you to give to your friends or relatives. PLEASE HAVE THEM FILL OUT THEIR REGISTRATIONS AND RETURN THEM ASAP TO HELP US PLAN AND ORDER EXTRA SUPPLIES. ATTENTION ADULTS & YOUTH WE CAN STILL USE MORE VBS VOLUNTEERS: We need an adult leader for the GAMES for all five nights. Contact DCO Peter if you are available. We also have a variety of other opportunities for you to be involved. We have placed a sign-up sheet on the ministry desk with more information. We are going to Lutheran Island Camp the week of June Youth pay $50 deposit to Zion and we will cover the rest of your expenses. We have two adult women and DCO Peter going with our group as leaders. As of right now, we have two boys and two girls planning to attend. We will be assigned to work with another small group at LIC who will be doing projects at the camp. ADULT / FAMILY LIFE MINISTRY SUNDAY MORNING ADULT BIBLE CLASS: Join us for a study of Noah. COMING THIS FALL CREATIVE WORSHIP SERVICE EVERY SUNDAY We will be using the new Fellowship Hall for a 2 nd worship service on Sunday mornings. Pastor Gary and DCO Peter are working out the details for this service. We will not be using printed material, instead we will utilize the use of the large TV and speaker system in the Fellowship Hall. She took ten pennies from her daughter's bank and laid them in a row. The mother said, these are your ten pennies. She then put one penny aside and said, This is for Jesus. The young girl looked at the nine pennies, then at the one, She looked up at her mother, and glancing at the one lonely penny, and said, Poor Jesus. 9
