It means wind, or breath Gen. 2:7 Genesis 2:7 (NKJV) 7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Pneuma Greek name. It also means breath or wind John 20:22 (NKJV) 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit. 7 The Spirit of God is the out breathing of God s innermost being. Therefore, when we receive the Spirit, we are receiving the very innermost part of the God of creation. It is God dwelling in us in the ultimate sense of intimacy This is most significant for the believer in Christ, because it is the point of our power for living the life of Christ. 8 John 3:6 8 (NLT) 6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.* 7 So don t be surprised when I say, You* must be born again. 8 The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can t explain how people are born of the Spirit. This is the Sovereignty of the Spirit!!!!! 10 We cannot tell the wind where to blow, and likewise, we cannot tell the Holy Spirit what direction to lead us. But we can be directed by the wind of the Spirit when we begin to move in the direction He is blowing. It is not for us to instruct the Spirit on how we wish to live, but it is incumbent upon us to follow His leading, wherever it may take us 1 Corinthians 12:11 (NKJV) 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
