5 SCRIPTURE READING John 13:31-35 After washing the disciples' feet, predicting his betrayal, and then revealing his betrayer, Jesus speaks of his glorification on the cross. This deep complicated love of Jesus, even to death on the cross, will be the distinctive mark of Jesus' community. When Judas had gone out to betray him, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once. Little children, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, 'Where I am going, you cannot come.' I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." 7 OFFERING PRAYER Blessed are you, O God, ruler of heaven and earth. Day by day you shower us with blessings. As you have raised us to new life in Christ, give us glad and generous hearts, ready to praise you and to respond to those in need, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. HOLY COMMUNION The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise. It is indeed right, our duty and our joy we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

8 In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. 9 As you come forward receive the bread from the Pastor and then dip it in the cup held by the Communion Assistant. Then partake of the elements together. You may return to your place by using the side aisle. The Praise Band will be singing during distribution. You are welcome to sing along. PRAYER AND BLESSING We give you thanks, O God, that you make your home with us, bringing heaven to earth in this holy meal. Fill us with your Spirit as we go from here, that we may wipe away tears, tend to those in mourning and pain, seek the healing of the nations, and bring to earth the presence of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. 11 TEACHING PARISH STUDENT Today we bid farewell to our Teaching Parish Student, Adam Buff. We wish him God s blessing and success in all of his future endeavors. GERANIUMS FOR PENTECOST SUNDAY May 19 th is Pentecost Sunday and we will be putting red geraniums around the worship space. We are asking members of the congregation to sponsor a geranium which will then be planted around the church after that day. These will be purchased from Fisher s Florist at the cost of $7.00 each. If you are interested, there are envelopes on the table in the Fellowship Room and Welcome Table to put your name and money or check made payable to Trinity Lutheran Church and give to Donna Wolfe. The deadline for your order is May 5 th. THE AUXILIARY TO THECHAMBERSBURG CENTER FOR LSS OF SOUTH CENTRAL PA is conducting their membership drive. This is open to all men, women and children. Fill out the envelope you received and return to Sue Snyder. If you have not received an envelope, there are extra on the table in the fellowship room. NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER THEME: PRAY FOR AMERICA at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 45 N. Washington Street, from 11:00 a.m.-12 Noon. Outside Prayer will be held outside Borough Hall (across from the church) for a half-hour prayer time. CHURCH YARD SALE: the Harvest Committee is sponsoring a yard sale on Saturday, June 1st from 8:00am - 2:00pm. (Rain date June 8 th ). We are looking for donations of good/usable yard sale items (please: no clothing). We will be accepting items on Wednesday, May 29 th from noon to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, May 30 th from 12:00 noon 7:00pm. We will also have 8 10 spaces available for rent on a first come, first served basis. The cost for each space is $ (Please note the church tables WILL NOT be available for the rented spaces). The sale will be promoted via posters and the news media. Please start saving your items now! Any questions contact the church office. THE LUTHERAN CHURCH WOMEN will be going to Luther Ridge on Wednesday, May 8 th at 7:00 p.m. to entertain the residents and celebrate with those having birthdays in the month of May. 12 CHAMBERSBURG CONFERENCE NEWS HYMN SING AT SALEM, MARION Salem Lutheran Church of Marion (99 Miller Rd, Chambersburg) will be having their Spring Hymn Sing on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 2pm. The Theme is Hymns from God s Word. There will be hymns, readings and special music and anthems. The hymn sing will be followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship. Everyone is invited. OPEN HOUSE AT LUTHER RIDGE You are invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at Luther Ridge Retirement Community on Saturday May 18 th from 1-3 p.m. The ribbon cutting will take place at the newly renovated model cottage. The open house will take place at The Inn, which is Luther Ridge s personal care facility. All are welcome to come meet the new director of sales, Jodi Lomison, during this event. CHURCH DAY BUFFET Members of our congregation and their friends are invited to the Church Day Buffet at the Fleck Center at Luther Ridge on Wednesday, May 8 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. The menu for May is Creamed Lettuce, Stuffed Chicken Breast, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Baked Corn, Dessert and Beverage. Cost for the buffet is $6.75 per person. To reserve your place, please call by May 3. NEW CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP A new Caregiver Support Group in association with the Alzheimer s Association will be meeting the second Monday of each month from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. The group will meet at the LIFE Lutheran Services building, 840 Fifth Ave., Chambersburg. Upcoming meetings are scheduled for May 13 and June 10. This group is for anyone in the community. Light refreshments will be served. For more information please contact Heather Lynch at WELLNESS TALK AT LUTHER RIDGE Lutheran Home Care & Hospice will give a Health & Wellness talk on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at The Fleck Center at Luther Ridge. The program is free of charge and open to anyone in the community. No registration is required. The topic is Understanding Bowel Health: IBS and C- Diff. IBS is one of the most common ailments that affect us as we age. And one in five persons will be affected by a bowel disorder.
