2 WALKING A MILE IN THEIR SHOES. October is National Domestic Violence Month and the Adelphes of Iota Chapter participated in the City of Savannah s Annual Candlelight Vigil in honor of all the victims who lost their lives tragically by the hands of someone they once loved sponsored by Safe Shelter. The program was quite humbling as the many shoes of the victims were placed to remind us that they were once alive and dwelling amongst us. There was no age limit on the victims as the youngest victim was a baby just days old and the eldest was 90. We were each asked to considering walking a mile in their shoes something not one of us could truly imagine. Families of the victims were present and Adelphi Turner serviced as the mistress of ceremony for the somber event. One of the surviving victims spoke out about her experience at the hands of abuse from her spouse. The event was very moving and we learned that one of the pairs of shows belonged to the relative of our very own Adelphi Childs. The Adelphes of Iota Chapter will continuously support Safe Shelter by way of education, volunteerism, and financial support throughout the year. WORSHIP IN PINK The Iota Chapter celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness month in October by hosting several Worship in Pink events sponsored by the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Awareness organization. The events were hosted at Alpha & Omega Worship Center & 2nd Ebenezer Baptist Church. We were graced with Speaker Thea Jenkins, a breast cancer survivor, to explain her healing and commitment to help others through spiritual counseling. We are so blessed to provide information to the community on how to better care for themselves both physically and spiritually!

3 On the day after Christmas, Iota Chapter shared in the love and joy of giving back to those who are less fortunate by serving hot meals to the hungry at 2nd Ebenezer Baptist church in Savannah! The ladies enjoyed fellowshipping with the various participants. Not only did the participants receive a hot meal, but they also had the opportunity to select clothing and shoes as they needed. The participants were extremely greatly for the generosity of the chapter s volunteerism. IOTA CHPATER FEED THE HUNGRY DURING CHRISTMAS 2nd Ebenezer feeds the hungry and homeless daily from 5 to 6 PM. Adelphi Chondra Davis is a member of the church and the Iota Chapter has adopted this service project for continual support throughout the year. Adelphi Tiffany Walter & Adelphi Jenean Turner enjoying sharing the Christmas cheer to the youth of Alpha & Omega by providing refreshments after their Christmas program. The Adelphes provided punch and sweet snacks to the participants. Approximately 25 youth participated in the hour long program centered around the theme of The Real Meaning of Christmas. The highlight of the program was learning the biblical meaning of the song, The 12 Days of Christmas. The Iota Chapter looks forward to fellowshipping with the youth in the near future! 4 Chaplain's Corner Unity in Diversity 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 (NKJV) 4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. Have you ever found yourself being upset because someone does something different from the way you do it? If we are truthful, many times we think our way is the best way or the only way to get things done. Nevertheless, we must put away that mindset because our God has called people with diverse backgrounds and ideas to work and function in the Church. God has given us diverse spiritual gifts and talents, and we must learn to have unity in our diversity. Of course, we should have the same mindset as Christ; however we must understand that we are not clones, robots or drones to act, think, and operate exactly alike! Our God, the giver of all gifts has created us with unique personalities, gifts, and talents to specifically fulfill our purpose. Individually we are different and distinct; but collectively we should all aspire to be servants who lovingly support each other as we work to build His Church and to advance His Kingdom. Find us on Facebook LTU Christian Sorority, Inc. and the Elks Hosted Pre-Thanksgiving The Iota Chapter of the Lambda Tau Upsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. and the Elite Temple #71, Improved Benevolent Protective Order Elks of the World (I.B.P.O.E.W.) hosted a Pre- Thanksgiving luncheon for the residents of Horace Stillwell Towers on Saturday, November 17, Ms. Shirley Williams, coordinator for Stillwell Towers and some of the spirited residents assisted with the provision, preparation, and serving of 208 bountiful holiday meals. A dynamic and spirit-filled praise and worship preceded the dinner, and many souls were inspired. the vision of spreading the faith, love, and fellowship to Savannah, and the Southeastern part of the state of Georgia. The Elks is a chartered fraternal and benevolent organization whose purpose is to enhance the status of women, to extend charity, and to encourage people to live together in Christian fellowship and love. Both organizations look forward to more opportunities to reach out to the community to fellowship, to encourage, and to spread God s Love. Members of Iota Chapter and Elks work to feed seniors at Stillwell Towers. The Iota Chapter of LTU Christian Sorority, Inc., and Elite Temple #71, truly loved every moment of hosting the meal and giving back to the community. It was a special day serving the residents of Stillwell Towers while fellowshipping, enjoying a good meal, and celebrating the beginning of a joyous holiday season. The LTU Christian Sorority s purpose is to spread God s Truth through fellowship, social awareness, community service and missions while promoting love, truth, and unity among women. The Iota Chapter was chartered in November 2009, with The Elks preparing food with the chapter
