Walking With the Lord Outline Lesson 1 - My Relationship with the Lord Lesson 2 - Being Led by the Spirit Lesson 3 - My Daily Walk in His Word Lesson 4 - Talking to the Lord Lesson 5 - There is Power in My Words Lesson 6 - Living an Obedient Life Lesson 7 - Am I Keeping the Love Command? Lesson 8 - No Fear Here! Lesson 9 - Praising and Thanking God Lesson 10 - Walking Out My God Appointed Destiny Lesson 8 No Fear Here! Section 28 In the previous lesson we learned about love, God s love in us. 1 John 4:18 says that there is no fear in love, dread does not exist in God s love. But perfect love, complete full grown love in your heart gets rid of fear and terror. So, the more of God s Word that you put in your heart by speaking it out loud, the less fear that you will have in your heart. (2 Timothy 1:7 KJVA) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Let s read it from the Amplified Bible. (2 Timothy 1:7 AMP) For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. 2

Lesson 8 No Fear Here! (continued) Receiving power, love, and a calm, well-balanced, disciplined and selfcontrolled mind comes only one way. You need to keep your minds renewed with God s Word continually especially on the areas that are causing you to be afraid. (Psalms 91:1 AMP) HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. (Psalms 91:2 KJVA) I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. (Psalms 91:3 CEV) The Lord will keep you safe from secret traps and deadly diseases. The Young s Literal Translation says it like this: (Psalms 91:3 YLT) For He delivereth thee from the snare of a fowler, From a calamitous pestilence. (Psalms 91:4 CEV) He will spread his wings over you and keep you secure. His faithfulness is like a shield or a city wall. In the King James Version, His faithfulness is translated as His Truth. (Psalms 91:4 KJVA) He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. (Psalms 91:5 GNB) You need not fear any dangers at night or sudden attacks during the day (Psalms 91:6 NLT) Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. The Amplified says it this way: (Psalms 91:5 AMP) You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, (Psalms 91:6 AMP) Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday. (Psalms 91:7 GNB) A thousand may fall dead beside you, ten thousand all around you, but you will not be harmed. The New Living Translation says it this way: 3

(Psalms 91:7 NLT) Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. (Psalms 91:8 AMP) Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked. (Psalms 91:9 KJVA) Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; (Psalms 91:10 AMP) There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. Plague means pestilence, disease, infection, outbreak, epidemic, curse, affliction, scourge (terrorize), blight (disfigurement, scar, damage). Calamity means disaster, catastrophe, mishap, tragedy, trouble, adversity. Read Psalms 91:9-10 from both the Bible in Basic English and the Good News Bible below. (Psalms 91:9-10 BBE) Because you have said, I am in the hands of the Lord, the Most High is my safe resting-place; (10) No evil will come on you, and no disease will come near your tent. (Psalms 91:9-10 GNB) You have made the LORD your defender, the Most High your protector, (10) and so no disaster will strike you, no violence will come near your home. (Psalms 91:11 AMP) For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service]. (Psalms 91:13, NLT) You will trample down lions and poisonous snakes; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! (Psalms 91:14 CEV) The Lord says, "If you love me and truly know who I am, I will rescue you and keep you safe. (Psalms 91:14 AMP) Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness- -trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never]. (Psalms 91:15 NLT) When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them. (Psalms 91:16 NIV) With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation. Every situation that you find yourself in that needs protection from the Lord, you will find in Psalm 91. It would be very important for you to read that Psalm daily and memorize it, so you can speak it out in a day of trouble. 4

Lesson 8 No Fear Here! (continued) (Nahum 1:7 AMP) The Lord is good, a Strength and Stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows (recognizes, has knowledge of, and understands) those who take refuge and trust in Him. (Nahum 1:7 CEV) The LORD is good. He protects those who trust him in times of trouble. (Nahum 1:7 GNB) The LORD is good; he protects his people in times of trouble; he takes care of those who turn to him. (Isaiah 54:14 ESV) In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you. Now read it from the Amplified version. (Isaiah 54:14 AMP) You shall establish yourself in righteousness (rightness, in conformity with God's will and order): you shall be far from even the thought of oppression or destruction, for you shall not fear, and from terror, for it shall not come near you. (Isaiah 54:15 ESV) If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you. (Isaiah 54:15 NIV) If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you. (Isaiah 54:16 NLT) "I have created the blacksmith who fans the coals beneath the forge and makes the weapons of destruction. And I have created the armies that destroy. (Isaiah 54:17 GNB) But no weapon will be able to hurt you; you will have an answer for all who accuse you. I will defend my servants and give them victory." The LORD has spoken. Read verse 17 from the Amplified Bible and Bible in Basic English. (Isaiah 54:17 BBE) No instrument of war which is formed against you will be of any use; and every tongue which says evil against you will be judged false. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness comes from me, says the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17 AMP) But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the 5

ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord. Now, read Isaiah 54:17 from the King James Version. (Isaiah 54:17 KJVA) No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. These words that are spoken against you, can be negative words, words of hate, words that downgrade, devalue, words that belittle you, words that put you down, criticize you, etc. But, you have the right as children of God (those who have Jesus living in them by accepting Him as their Lord, and Savior) to condemn those words. You have the right to STAND UP and say NO to these words, and STAND UP and say YES to what God s Word says about you instead! Study Questions for SECTION 28. Section 29 (Psalms 18:1 AMP) To the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David the servant of the Lord, who spoke the words of this song to the Lord on the day when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said: I LOVE You fervently and devotedly, O Lord, my Strength. (Psalms 18:1 BBE) To the chief music-maker. Of the servant of the Lord, of David, who said the words of this song to the Lord on the day when the Lord made him free from the hand of all his haters, and from the hand of Saul; and he said, I will give you my love, O Lord, my strength. (Psalms 18:1 Geneva) To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid the seruant of the Lorde, which spake vnto the Lord the wordes of this song (in the day that the Lorde deliuered him from the hande of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul) and sayd, I will loue thee dearely, O Lord my strength. Notice how David said he loved the Lord in each of these translations: fervently and devotedly; I will give you my love; I will love you dearly. The word will is an action word here in these sentences, because when you will to do something, you are on purpose choosing to do something, or as an act of your will. So when you choose to give, or choose to love dearly, these are positive actions that will bring in positive results. And, fervently and devotedly are strong words on how you are going to love the Lord. 7

Fervently means passionately, ardently, enthusiastically, eagerly, zealously, fanatically, feverishly, excitedly, energetically. Devotedly means loyally, faithfully, dutifully, keenly, lovingly, caringly, kindly, fondly, attentively, and supportively. (Psalms 18:2 AMP) The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my keen and firm Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my High Tower. (Psalms 18:3 KJVA) I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. (Psalms 18:4 KJVA) The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. (Psalms 18:5 KJVA) The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. (Psalms 18:6 ESV) In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears. Now read it from the Amplified version. (Psalms 18:6 AMP) In my distress [when seemingly closed in] I called upon the Lord and cried to my God; He heard my voice out of His temple (heavenly dwelling place), and my cry came before Him, into His [very] ears. (Psalms 18:7 ESV) Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry. (Psalms 18:8 ESV) Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him. (Psalms 18:9 KJVA) He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. (Psalms 18:10 KJVA) And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind. (Psalms 18:12 KJVA) At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire. (Psalms 18:13 KJVA) The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire. (Psalms 18:14 KJVA) Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. 8

Lesson 8 No Fear Here! (continued) (Psalms 18:15 KJVA) Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. (Psalms 18:16 KJVA) He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. (Psalms 18:17 KJVA) He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. (Psalms 18:18 AMP) They confronted and came upon me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my stay and support. (Psalms 18:19 GNB) He helped me out of danger; he saved me because he was pleased with me. The King James Version says it this way. (Psalms 18:19 KJV) He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. (Psalms 18:20 NLT) The LORD rewarded me for doing right; He restored me because of my innocence. (Psalms 18:21 NLT) For I have kept the ways of the LORD; I have not turned from my God to follow evil. (Psalms 18:22 GNB) I have observed all his laws; I have not disobeyed his commands. (Psalms 18:23 BBE) And I was upright before him, and I kept myself from sin. 10 (Psalms 18:29 BBE) By your help I have made a way through the wall which was shutting me in; by the help of my God I have gone over a wall. (Psalms 18:30 Darby) As for *God, his way is perfect; the word of Jehovah is tried: he is a shield to all that trust in him. (Psalms 18:30 GNB) This God---how perfect are his deeds! How dependable his words! He is like a shield for all who seek his protection. (Psalms 18:30 NLT) God's way is perfect. All the LORD's promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection. (Psalms 18:31 GNB) The LORD alone is God; God alone is our defense. (Psalms 18:32 NLT) God arms me with strength, and He makes my way perfect. (Psalms 18:33 NLT) He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights. (Psalms 18:34 NLT) He trains my hands for battle; He strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow. (Psalms 18:44 KJVA) As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me. 10

Lesson 8 No Fear Here! (continued) (Psalms 18:45 CEV) They have lost all courage, and from their fortresses, they come trembling. (Psalms 18:46 AMP) The Lord lives! (Psalms 37:19 CEV) They won't be in trouble when times are bad, and they will have plenty when food is scarce. 14 Read that verse again in the Good News Bible. (Isaiah 41:10 GNB) Do not be afraid---i am with you! I am your God---let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you. (Hebrews 13:5 AMP) Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] (Hebrews 13:6 AMP) So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified]. What can man do to me? (Acts 18:10 AMP) For I am with you, and no man shall assault you to harm you, for I have many people in this city. (Matthew 6:24 GNB) "You cannot be a slave of two masters; you will hate one and love the other; you will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:25 GNB) "This is why I tell you: do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn't life worth more than food? And isn't the body worth more than clothes? (Matthew 6:26 GNB) Look at the birds: they do not plant seeds, gather a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren't you worth much more than birds? (Matthew 6:27 GNB) Can any of you live a bit longer by worrying about it? (Matthew 6:28 GNB) "And why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow: they do not work or make clothes for themselves. (Matthew 6:29 GNB) But I tell you that not even King Solomon with all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these flowers. 14

Lesson 8 No Fear Here! (continued) (Matthew 6:30 GNB) It is God who clothes the wild grass---grass that is here today and gone tomorrow, burned up in the oven. Won't he be all the more sure to clothe you? What little faith you have! (Matthew 6:31 CEV) Don't worry and ask yourselves, "Will we have anything to eat? Will we have anything to drink? Will we have any clothes to wear?" (Matthew 6:32 CEV) Only people who don't know God are always worrying about such things. Your Father in heaven knows that you need all of these. (Matthew 6:33 AMP) But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. (Matthew 6:34 CEV) Don't worry about tomorrow. It will take care of itself. You have enough to worry about today. Study Questions for SECTION 30.
