The Lord knelt beside me at an altar in prayer, He wiped my tears and took away my despair. "Come follow me, my child," the Lord whispered to me, "There will be no more pain, but oh so much to gain." He said, "I forgive you now for all you've done," Now it's time to receive the love of God's only son." His love was so warm, so bright and so true, I could not believe my soul he had renewed, He repaired my soul from the inside out. It was then and only then I knew what love was about. The cleansing power that fell over me, Was the love of the Lord as he carried me. "Come follow me, my child," the Lord whispered to me, "In that sweet holy land someday you will be. You will see the Lord's face at those big pearly gates, Where loved ones embrace and angels await. Come follow me, my child," the Lord whispered to me, "I will love you always, your protector I'll be."

2 LIFE ON THE KINGDOM ROAD Lent is a time of reflection. It s a season when we prepare ourselves to celebrate the greatest of all days Easter. We ll spend forty days (excluding Sundays) of reminding ourselves just why we are here. Lent begins this year on a very interesting day. Ash Wednesday is on Valentine s Day. What powerful symbolism. That we would begin our season of preparation for the day when God showed us just how much he loves us on Valentine s Day just tickles me for some reason. This, however, presents some problems. It saddens me to think that on Wednesday, February 14 th, restaurants will be full and churches will be largely empty. I do have a solution, though. Prepare a meal or take the person you love out to dinner this weekend. Buy them candy and flowers (it ll be cheaper now, anyway!). Make it an early Valentine s Day so you can spend February 14 th here, in church, preparing your heart for the One who created you. As we begin our Lenten journey together we will be studying a book authored by your former District Superintendent, Bill Blair, titled Consider the Ant. Along with a sermon series, there will be a ten week small group study beginning on Thursday, February 22 nd at 7:00 pm. If you are interested in this small group study, you may sign up by calling the church office and requesting a book (cost is $9.00 and scholarships are available) or by purchasing it yourself on Amazon.com. What lessons might we learn from those annoying little creatures that show up at the most inopportune times? It was the writer of Proverbs who said, Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. (Proverbs 6:6-8) Yes, we can learn from even the tiniest, seemingly insignificant creatures that God has placed among us. It is my prayer that we will very seriously, Consider the Ant together. 5 February News From now until February 28th, we will be taking orders for fresh daffodils which will be distributed March 21st-23rd. Proceeds will benefit the Somerset Oncology Center & Somerset Hospice. I m hooked on you! Daffodil bunches are $10 & Potted Daffodils are $ Checks can be made out to "Blooms of Hope". Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Church s observance of the Lenten season six weeks that are set apart for the purpose of drawing closer to God and seeking him with greater intensity. As we enter Valentine s and Lent together this year, don t forget to ask yourself, How will I repent and return to God with all my heart? Mark your calendars for February 9 th - 11 th for a great getaway open to all husbands and wives of any Christian faith in Jumonville. The cost of the event is $375 per couple. This includes a two night stay in either the Inn or Washington Lodge, four meals, snacks, time in the adventure center, and your workbook for our sessions.
