2 G E N E R A L R U L E S All liturgical servers should: remember that they participate in the mystery and lead others to it prepare themselves for their functions by praying, reflecting upon their actions, taking part in the rehearsal of the liturgy team prepare all needed things before the celebration and after it bring everything back to the sacristy (or leave it in a proper place in the sanctuary)

4 BOOK BEARER S DUTIES Prepares the Missal marking: - Missal formula - Penitential rite - Preface (singing or reciting) - Eucharistic Prayer - Communion rite - Solemn blessing (prayer over the people) He also prepares (in a hard binding) texts of the introduction and conclusion of the Universal Prayer.and other texts, if needed. At the right time (during the Preparation of Gifts) he places the Missal on the altar

5 MINISTRY AT THE LITURGY He presents the Missal in such a way that the priest celebrant may see the text clearly. He does it naturally, not to get tired (if he uses a large Missal, he does not hold it with straight arms, but he leans it against his chest as shown in the picture). He approaches the celebrant and stands symmetrically with the minister of the microphone. W i e l k i C z w a r t e k

6 MINISTRY AT THE LITURGY He presents the introduction and conclusion of the Universal Prayer. During the Preparation of the Gifts he carries the Missal to the altar and opens it at Preparation of the Gifts. W i e l k i C z w a r t e k

7 MINISTRY AT THE LITURGY He receives Holy Communion together with other ministers serving within the sanctuary, leading the Communion procession. He removes the Missal from the altar either after the Communion of the Priest (if Wthere i eare l k many i C zconcelebrants w a r t e k and the altar must be prepared at this point) or before the Thanksgiving after Communion. He presents the Missal at the Prayer after Communion and (optionally) during the blessing at the chair. After kissing the altar by the priest celebrant, he forms the procession before the altar together with other servers. Then, after making the appropriate act of reverence (to the altar in the Cenacle or to the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel), he walks processionally to the sacristy together with other servers.

8 PROCESSION ORDER AND TAKING SEATS BY THE SERVERS The next few pages show schemes of processions orders and taking seats by the servers (there is also a separate presentation containing the following schemes). The schemes present general situations places may differ depending on the number of the faithful and concelebrants. However, this general rule should be observed each server takes his seat near the place of his function. All schemes provide for places for MB and CrB they apply to celebrations presided by the bishop.

Grant me the grace of serving as the book bearer worthily, and grant all the faithful gathered at the liturgy the gift of melding their personal prayers with Christ prayer. Teach us to embrace the repository of Church s prayers written in liturgical books. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for calling me to serve as the book bearer at the sacred liturgy of the Church. Let me recognize the beauty of liturgical prayers and be able to reveal this beauty to my brothers.

16 CORPORATE PRAYERS OF ALL SERVERS B E F O R E A N D A F T E R T H E L I T U R G Y The priest celebrant leads prayers of the liturgy team serving within the sanctuary in the sacristy. I am about to approach the altar of the Lord, approach God who cheers my youth. I begin the sacred ministry and I want to fulfill it well. Please, Lord Jesus, grant me the grace of focusing my thoughts on You, my eyes on the altar, and let my heart be committed only to You. Amen. O God, whose kindness called me to serve You, as I am now sanctified by participation in Your mysteries, please, let me walk only on the path of salvation, today and all my life, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
