3 Saint Cecilia Singers Saturday 2 March 2019 at Gloucester Cathedral 70 th birthday celebration A free concert for supporters old and new Former choir members are warmly invited to sing Evensong with the choir at 4.30pm followed by Sparkling Afternoon Tea in the Chapter House at 5.30pm. Then friends and supporters can enjoy a free concert in the Cathedral Nave at 7pm. The programme will be Duruflé s Requiem accompanied by organist Christopher Allsop, alongside a selection of pieces performed at the Singers inaugural concerts on 17th February 1949 and 18th June The concert marks the start of a year of celebration to include a concert and Evensong at the Three Choirs Festival in July and a new commission by composer Neil Cox to be performed in the spring of Admission to Evensong and the concert is free. Tickets for afternoon tea are 7.50 with a celebratory glass of fizz. Previous members wishing to sing Evensong can sign up via the website The Saint Cecilia Singers is Gloucester Cathedral s chamber choir - an auditioned choir of around 30 enthusiastic and gifted amateur and semi-professional singers. It performs up to six concerts per year including an annual Christmas concert at Gloucester Cathedral as well as taking part in the Cathedral Choirs Days and occasional Evensongs.
