5 The Gradual Psalm 146 Lauda, anima mea The psalm is read responsively. Halleluah! Praise Lord, O my soul! I ill praise Lord as long as I live; I ill sing praises to my God hile I have my being. Put not your trust in rulers, nor in any child of earth, for re is no help in m. When y brea ir last, y return to earth, and in that day ir thoughts perish. Happy are y ho have God of acob for ir help! hose hope is in Lord ir God; Who made heaven and earth, seas, and all that is in m; ho keeps his promise for ever; Who gives ustice to those ho are oppressed, and food to those ho hunger. The Lord sets prisoners free; Lord opens eyes of blind; Lord lifts up those ho are boed don; The Lord loves righteous; Lord cares for stranger; he sustains orphan and ido, but frustrates ay of icked. The Lord shall reign for ever, your God, O Zion, throughout all generations. Halleluah! The Epistle ames 2:1-17 Lector A Reading from Letter of ames. My brors and sisters, do you ith your acts of favoritism really believe in our glorious Lord esus Christ? For if a person ith gold rings and in fine clos comes into your assembly, and if a poor person in dirty clos also comes in, and if you take notice of one earing fine clos and say, Have a seat here, please, hile to one ho is poor you say, Stand re, or, Sit at my feet, have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become udges ith evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brors and sisters. Has not God chosen poor in orld to be rich in faith and to be heirs of kingdom that he has promised to those ho love him? But you have dishonored poor. Is it not rich ho oppress you? Is it not y ho drag you into court? Is it not y ho blaspheme excellent name that as invoked over you? 5

6 You do ell if you really fulfill royal la according to scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. But if you sho partiality, you commit sin and are convicted by la as transgressors. For hoever keeps hole la but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it. For one ho said, You shall not commit adultery, also said, You shall not murder. No if you do not commit adultery but if you murder, you have become a transgressor of la. So speak and so act as those ho are to be udged by la of liberty. For udgment ill be ithout mercy to anyone ho has shon no mercy; mercy triumphs over udgment. What good is it, my brors and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have orks? Can faith save you? If a bror or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to m, Go in peace; keep arm and eat your fill, and yet you do not supply ir bodily needs, hat is good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no orks, is dead. Lector People The people stand Alleluia Verse Cantor People The Word of Lord. Thanks be to God. Congregation Al -le-lu - Choir. ia,.
