4 Gloria in Excelsis Festival Eucharist, Craig Phillips (b. 1961) And peace to his people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Far, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Antiphon Lord Jesus Christ, only Son Far, Lord God, Lamb God, you take away sin world: have mercy upon us; you are seated at right hand Far: receive our prayer. Antiphon For you alone are Holy One, you alone are Lord, you alone are Most High, Jesus Christ, with Holy Spirit, in glory God Far. Amen. Antiphon Priest People Priest The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. The Collect Day Grant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist proud who confide in ir own strength, so you never forsake those who make ir boast your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. The people sit. The Lesson Lector A Reading from Book prophet Isaiah. Isaiah 35:4-7a Say to those who are a fearful heart, Be strong, do not fear! Here is your God. He will come with vengeance, with terrible recompense. He will come and save you. Then eyes blind shall be opened, and ears deaf unstopped; n lame shall leap like a deer, and tongue speechless sing for oy. For waters shall break forth in wilderness, and streams in desert; burning sand shall become a pool, and thirsty ground springs water. Lector People The Word Lord. Thanks be to God. 4

5 The Gradual Psalm 146 Lauda, anima mea The choir sings psalm. Halleluah! Praise Lord, O my soul! I will praise Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. Put not your trust in rulers, nor in any child earth, for re is no help in m. When y brea ir last, y return to earth, and in that day ir thoughts perish. Happy are y who have God Jacob for ir help! whose hope is in Lord ir God; Who made heaven and earth, seas, and all that is in m; who keeps his promise for ever; Who gives ustice to those who are oppressed, and food to those who hunger. The Lord sets prisoners free; Lord opens eyes blind; Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; The Lord loves righteous; Lord cares for stranger; he sustains orphan and widow, but frustrates way wicked. The Lord shall reign for ever, your God, O Zion, throughout all generations. Halleluah! setting: H. Smart The Epistle James 2:1-17 Lector A Reading from Letter James. My brors and sisters, do you with your acts favoritism really believe in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ? For if a person with gold rings and in fine clos comes into your assembly, and if a poor person in dirty clos also comes in, and if you take notice one wearing fine clos and say, Have a seat here, please, while to one who is poor you say, Stand re, or, Sit at my feet, have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become udges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brors and sisters. Has not God chosen poor in world to be rich in faith and to be heirs kingdom that he has promised to those who love him? But you have dishonored poor. Is it not rich who oppress you? Is it not y who drag you into court? Is it not y who blaspheme excellent name that was invoked over you? 5

6 You do well if you really fulfill royal law according to scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. But if you show partiality, you commit sin and are convicted by law as transgressors. For whoever keeps whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all it. For one who said, You shall not commit adultery, also said, You shall not murder. Now if you do not commit adultery but if you murder, you have become a transgressor law. So speak and so act as those who are to be udged by law liberty. For udgment will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over udgment. What good is it, my brors and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? If a bror or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one you says to m, Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill, and yet you do not supply ir bodily needs, what is good that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. Lector People The people stand. Hymn & # # # The Word Lord. Thanks be to God. 7 The Gospel Mark 7:24-37 Priest People The Holy Gospel our Lord Jesus Christ according to Mark. Glory to you, Lord Christ. Jesus set out and went away to region Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know he was re. Yet he could not escape notice, but a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately heard about him, and she came and bowed down at his feet. Now woman was a Gentile, Syrophoenician origin. She begged him to cast demon out her daughter. He said to her, Let children be fed first, for it is not fair to take children s food and throw it to dogs. But she answered him, Sir, even dogs under table eat children s crumbs. Then he said to her, For saying that, you may go demon has left your daughter. So she went home, found child lying on bed, and demon gone. Then he returned from region Tyre, and went by way Sidon towards Sea Galilee, in region Decapolis. They brought to him a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and y begged him to lay his hand on him. He took him aside in private, away from crowd, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat and touched his tongue. Then looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened. And immediately his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. Then Jesus ordered m to tell no one; but more he ordered m, more zealously y proclaimed it. They were astounded beyond measure, saying, He has done everything well; he even makes deaf to hear and mute to speak. Priest People The Gospel Lord. Praise to you, Lord Christ. 8 For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by power Holy Spirit he became incarnate from Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On third day he rose again in accordance with Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at right hand Far. He will come again in glory to udge living and dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in Holy Spirit, Lord, giver life, who proceeds from Far and Son. With Far and Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for forgiveness sins. We look for resurrection dead, and life world to come. Amen. The Prayers People The Leader and People pray responsively Far, we pray for your holy Catholic Church; That we all may be one. Minister and People Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For sake your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to glory your Name. Amen. The Priest says Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengn you in all goodness, and by power Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen. 9

Therefore we praise you, oining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all company heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim glory your Name: Sanctus and Benedictus Festival Eucharist, Craig Phillips (b. 1961) Then Priest continues We give thanks to you, O God, for goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation; in calling Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through prophets; and above all in Word made flesh, Jesus, your Son. For in se last days you sent him to be incarnate from Virgin Mary, to be Savior and Redeemer world. In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out error into truth, out sin into righteousness, out death into life. Do this for remembrance me. After supper he took cup wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to m, and said, Drink this, all you: This is my Blood new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for forgiveness sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for remembrance me. 11
