2 PARISH NURSE HOURS Mondays 3:30 4:30 PM Winter has most of us thinking Spring to get us through this challenging winter. We all need to work hard at thinking positive thoughts of warm weather, green grass and gardens. Consider these thoughts as survival tactics. Take care and keep warm and safe. THE EVANGELISM /LAY MINISTRY BOARD is seeking volunteers to bring home communion to shutins on Communion Sundays. This is a very simple yet wonderful way to serve our fellow members of our congregation. Please contact the church office or Marijo Nabben at if interested. If you are in need or know someone in need of, or would like home communion, please contact the church office. LWR QUILTING AND KIT WORKSHOP Please come and join us for our Lutheran World Relief Workshop the 1st, 3rd, and 5th (if there is one) Thursdays of the month. We meet from 1-4pm. Sewing quilts and preparing many different types of kits to send to the Lutheran World Relief is our mission. Come when you can, choose what you do and leave when you must. We have fun! its not all work. For more info call Sharon Bergerson , or Carol Waswick about quilts; and Sharon Jorde or Sharon Wagner about kits. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY meets on Thursday mornings at 10:00 in the Fellowship Hall. We are always looking for more crocheters and knitters! If you don t know how to knit or crochet, we will help you learn! For more information call Deb Holtan at BROADCAST SPONSORSHIP sign up is located on the wall next to the office door. Cost is $100 for entire broadcast; $50 for half. Many sponsor opportunities are still available for the coming year. WITNESSES EVENT with Jonathan Swenson is rescheduled for Sunday, March 10th. 7PM at Zion. There will be a supper served starting at 6PM in the fellowship hall. LWR KITS We are again asking you to contribute items for the Personal Care Kits during our Lenten services. Items needed are: bath towels (may be used, but clean); nail clipper; adult-sized toothbrush; sturdy comb; and two bath-sized bars of soap. A container will be available for you to deposit your items. We are still collecting flannel sheets to make diapers for the Baby Care Kits. They don t have to be solid colors; any print or floral will do! The confirmands assist with assembling and packing the kits. All these kits and the quilts are sent to Lutheran World Relief in early May. ($8,781.needed per week to meet expenses) JAN-FEB average is $6,318. per week GIVEHUB KIOSK IS LOCATED BY THE STAIRS TO THE CHOIR LOFT - For debit/credit card donations to Zion. OUTDOOR ELECTRONIC SIGN Current donations/pledges: $6,190. The approximate cost is $37,000. The properties board and the PPC will proceed with the sign if 80% of the cost is raised before the project is started. Donations or pledges toward this project are appreciated. The individual recommendations you make through Choice Dollars directions can make a profound impact Offering Envelopes can be picked up in the church office. ZION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Applications for the Zion Foundation Scholarship may be picked up in the church office. The scholarship is available to anyone currently attending or who will be attending an ELCA college this fall. Application deadline is April 15th.

5 COMMUNITY/AREA EVENTS LSS Caregivers Support Discussion is held at Zion the 2nd Thursday of each month at 10AM. Next meeting is March 14th. For more information contact Julie at STAY ACTIVE AND INDEPENDENT FOR LIFE (SAIL) Offered by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) This is a FREE class for seniors. You will improve balance, feel stronger, remain independent, & have more energy. This is a 1 hour class 2x per week. You can stand or sit, weights are provided at no cost. Registration is required. Contact Tammy or Jennifer at RSVP or the RRV at to sign up. HOSPICE OF THE RED RIVER VALLEY welcomes individuals to join its volunteer team as companionship volunteers. Call RSVP at or to discuss your needs or to volunteer to help people with this need. RSVP HANDY MAN SERVICE Trained volunteers enable seniors to maintain their independence and safety by providing minor home maintenance repairs such as replace batteries, lightbulbs, install grab bars or smoke detectors, weatherization projects, etc. with no charge. Materials or supplies are paid for by the client, scholarships are available for those in need. Call RSVP at HERITAGE COMMUNITY CENTER first Monday of the Month fundraiser supper, 5-6 PM. 6 Mission Sunday March 24, 2019 Experience a Drawn to the Word worship and artistic experience where Artist and Pastor Paul Oman will paint a larger-than-life sized mural before your eyes at Zion s 8:30 and 10:30 Worship services. The story will unfold artistically, musically, narratively and Scripturally during the event. All are welcome. Come and see! Paul Oman Drawn to the Word Artist Paul Oman, artist and pastor, shares his Drawn to the Word artistic ministry with audiences ecumenically across the country. He served as a science teacher, then Lutheran pastor when, in 2011, he took up work as an artistic pastor full-time. Paul seeks to give new vision to God s Word by using the process of painting to captivate audiences in our visually oriented culture. Painting and drawing have been a part of Paul s life since childhood. Receiving national & international recognition for his work in watercolor, Paul uses this gift to proclaim the Gospel unique and powerful ways that impact lives and inspire mission. Paul works in many settings, including congregations, schools, universities, seminaries, camps, prisons, non-profits, and more. The larger-than-life sized murals are painted with acrylics on stretched canvas. Paul lives near Amery, Wisconsin with his wife, Jana, and their children.
