1 Sound biblical doctrine reveals that God is in control of all things, including Mother Earth. Though He never hung that moniker on her, He did create her and hung her on nothing. He placed man Global Worming in charge of her, and we have often violated her. Yet, headlines predicting dire consequences all over the world from global warming are not based on utter, scientific specifics, for the opinions of many scientists evaluating the data are diametrically opposed on this contemporary issue. Former vice-president Al Gore has led an apocalyptic crusade for a doomsday scenario, looking for a 20 rise in sea level over the next century. He believes this will happen because of the Armada of gas-guzzling SUVs, cars, and trucks we drive release Elements of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere that help trap heat. The higher temperatures will melt the Yukon ice at our global Frontiers, and if we don t reduce our Expeditions, there may be no Escape from the cataclysmic events to come. Although his 4Runner loved Hummers, he wants to be sure that lowly Freelanders understand. To help us with his Axiom, he uses a graph of temperature spikes over time. If CO 2 released by factories and vehicles does not diminish, the fate of Mother Earth is in jeopardy. Though he ignores other scientific data, the self-proclaimed Defender of the faith has spoken and is due world Tribute. Yet, his ignoring other scientific evidence shows his Kahunas. Seriously folks, some days this Bravada makes me just want to Scout out an over-sized glass of Bordeux in my Suburban home. However, NASA scientist Roy Spencer of the University of Alabama, a skeptic, said there are many alternative explanations for Mr. Gore s Tennessee two-step. Many meteorologists and climatologists believe there are too many variables to account for when studying long-term atmospheric conditions, although most agree that mankind is having some effect on global warming. How much of an effect is what s causing the rousing debate. What is intriguing about this whole dispute is that those pushing this end of the world screenplay have written out God, who has given us His end time prophetic truth. Man is a problem, but the world will not end because the Big Three won t repent. The world will end because the one, real Trinity has determined to pour out God s wrath on a sinful world. God s plan is set in stone the one the world rejected and it will result in higher temps for some. We need to use our resources wisely and be responsible in community and world affairs, but we need to call on God for help, realizing that His plan and the future are beyond our control. 3 Do you believe in global warming? That is a religious question. So is the second part: Are you a skeptic or a believer? said MIT professor Richard Lindzen, in a speech to about 100 people at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Essentially if whatever you are told is alleged to be supported by all scientists, you don t have to understand [the issue] anymore. You simply go back to treating it as a matter of religious belief, Lindzen said. His speech was title, Climate Alarmism: The Misuse of Science. Once a person becomes a believer in global warming, You never have to defend this belief except to claim that you are supported by all scientists except for a handful of corrupted heretics. According to Lindzen, climate alarmists have been trying to push the idea that there is scientific consensus on dire climate change. Skepticism is essential to science consensus is foreign. Agreement on anything is taken to infer agreement on everything. So if you make a statement that you agree that CO2 (carbon dioxide) is a greenhouse gas, you agree that the world is coming to an end, he added. I placed the word theory in quotes because I am reluctantly coming to the conclusion that the idea that humans are causing global warming is really more akin to a religious belief a revealed truth about human sins (fossil fuel use) and their consequences (all manner of calamities) rather than a testable scientific explanation. A couple of points lead me to this conclusion: the way climate scientists skeptical of the claims that humans are causing climate change are treated, and the fact that the theory seems to violate the scientific method by being unfalsifiable. This is not the realm of healthy scientific discovery where testability, evidence and proof are king, but rather the unhealthy province of a doctrinaire religious belief, where unquestioning, unwavering, faith and blind proselytizing rules the day. 4 Jeopardy Economies at Stake Two kinds of scientists. One standing for true science based on the facts. The other pushing a political agenda that says science be damned, our global religion is at stake. Global Warming has become a religion that the faithful have vowed to follow no matter what the true facts may show. Global Warming is a theory, nothing more, and large numbers of scientists around the world are beginning to question its validity. There is no consensus of support. The fact is the Kyoto Protocol will have absolutely no effect on climate change, but the faithful demand that it be implemented anyway, because we have to do something. In 1990, Timothy Wirth, who later became Bill Clinton s Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs said, We ve got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong we will be doing the right thing. Global Warming is nothing more than a euphemism for redistribution of wealth from the rich, development nations to jealous dictatorships who refuse to allow their citizens the right to gain their own wealth through free markets. It's about political redistribution from strong, independent sovereign nations into the hands of a power-hungry global elite cowering in the United Nations. These are the same cowardly scoundrels who used to try to rule the world through global communism. Today they pretend that the same lies have something to do with protecting the environment. The truth is there is no man-made global warming. There s only the scam of an empty global religion designed to condemn human progress and sucker the feeble minded into worldwide human misery. 5 Opposing Thoughts As Dennis Miller once said: From what I can judge by watching the Discovery channel, the Earth has traditionally been about as well balanced as Amanda Plummer on a triple espresso. The sentiments are a little snotty, but they ultimately point to my view on global warming: 1) We have no data demonstrating that human beings are doing more than moderately contributing to it. 2) We have no data demonstrating that we are capable of doing anything meaningful to stop it. 3) The warming may be a good thing, not a bad thing, 4) It seems quite likely to be self-correcting in the long run. Advocates for the Kyoto treaty, which they admit would put huge burdens on developed nations, would cost trillions of dollars to implement, also admit that it is only a "first step," and that even tougher treaties will have to follow if any difference is to be made. The Oregon Petition almost never makes it into the news, although it should. Have you heard of it? It reads as follows: We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind. There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth. Its signers include 2,660 physicists, geophysicists, climatologists, meteorologists, oceanographers, and environmental scientists, in addition to 5,017 scientists whose fields of specialization include chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and other life sciences. 6 Other Scientific Data Global Energy Decisions has issued a report that says electricity prices could at least double if European nations are to meet emission reduction goals set forth by the Kyoto Protocol. According to junkscience.com, each one-billionth of a degree in warming avoided will cost $100,000. Guess that means for the bargain price of just $100 trillion we could theoretically lower global mean temperature about 1 Celsius. Burned By The Costs Investor s Business Daily December 1, 2006 William Lockyer, Democratic attorney general of California, sued the nation s six largest automakers in September for making vehicles that contribute to global warming. It is not clear whether Lockyer will eventually sue another major contributor to the greenhouse gas problem. California s legendary, contented and notoriously flatulent cattle herds could be in court next, for they emit tons of methane, another greenhouse gas, to the atmosphere without even a blush. 7 Researchers at the University of Illinois found that Americans have gained an average of 24 pounds since Those Krispy Kremes and Big Macs have led to supersized rears, which take more gas to move around. More gas means more emissions, so the study team recommends we eat less and walk more to save the planet. 8 The Scientific Method is a system that reputable scientists must follow to determine scientific facts. They won t discover biblical truth using it, but they may discover that their findings match up to biblical texts. The Bible is not a book on Science, but it is a book that contains words from the infallible God, who set the worlds to dancing. The Bible may not give us the answers to every scientific question, but when it addresses anything that could be construed as scientific, it always gives the right answer, whether modern scientists agree or not. Proponents of the cause seem, if even unknowingly, as if they are trying to worm the world of God, for they seem to be placing their faith in man s scientific prowess. Biblically literate Christians reject the notion that man will bring about the destruction of the earth by burning too many fossil fuels, or that man will save Mother Earth by ingenious plans to cut back, conserve and cower. God will bring about the destruction of the earth because of man s wickedness and His eternal plan, an inconvenient truth the mean, green machine faithfully ignores. ^Watch the Trailer^

9 Hurricanes and Global Warming No sooner had Hurricane Katrina moved inland to spawn tornadoes, flooding, misery and tragedy than it or rather global warming alarmists and some in the media began spawning junk science. The hurricane that struck Louisiana yesterday was nicknamed Katrina by the National Weather Service. Its real name is global warming, opened long-time alarmist Ross Gelbspan s op-ed in the Boston Globe (Aug. 30). Gelbspan also blamed global warming for snow in Los Angeles, high winds in Scandinavia, drought in the Midwest, a heat wave in Arizona, heavy rainfall in India and an ice storm in New England. Gelbspan offered no scientific argument to back up his assertions. He instead blamed the media for according the same weight to a handful of global warming skeptics that is accorded to the findings of the [United Nations]. Environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. blamed Mississsippi s Gov. Haley Barbour for derailing the Kyoto Protocol and kiboshing President Bush s iron-clad promise to regulate carbon dioxide.
