Ethnographic data was collected over a period of nearly three years through participant observation, semi-structured and conversational interviews, and archival research. Data analysis was inductive and ongoing, following the guiding precepts of grounded theory. Summer Research Assistant 2011 Assisted Dr. Shannon Monnat, Department of Sociology, and Dr. Monica Lounsbury, Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences on a joint policy evaluation research project that examined children s physical activity and school physical activity policies in Nevada. Collected data on education policy and tested survey instrument for content validity and made necessary revisions.
