2 Welcome Welcome to ANLA, we know that by reading this brief introduction you will glean the required information to make an informed decision about your leadership study needs. Overview ANLA exists to make a significant difference in solving some of the most critical problems of our country and the rest of the world. South Africa is at a critical stage of its redevelopment and in dire need of intellectually and morally stimulated individuals that have the commitment and dedication to change it for good. Philosophical Overview Because there is a battle raging between christo-centric and humanistic thought, it is critical for the Christian leadership student to be well-grounded in the principles and methods for defending and applying Christian principles of faith. It is our conviction that the divinelyrevealed Word of God is the only basis for a sound worldview that sows the seeds of intellectual, ethical, and scientific life and liberty, while all others sow misery, bondage and death. Educational Philosophy The educational philosophy of ANLA is self-consciously rooted in the Scriptures which provide the framework through which a worldview a comprehensive philosophy of life is developed and through which all thoughts, intentions, and actions, are judged for truth or error. The Scriptures are the foundation of all knowledge and wisdom. Historical impact study At ANLA emphasis is placed upon understanding the ideologies and movements that have fundamentally shaped the Western civilization. While it is true that Christianity has influenced much of Western culture, much is still left wanting. These many cultural influences upon leadership will be carefully studied and, in the case of non-christian thought, critically evaluated. ANLA is not a Bible School Although we use the Bible as our foundational reference tool we are not a Bible school, we do not teach doctrine, theology or eschatology at our leadership academy. At ANLA our focus is purely on the development of the leader within. It is therefore not our endeavor to change our students on a doctrinal level, but to empower and enhance their leadership quotient. Prepared for the Kingdom Knowledge for the sake of knowledge is useless, and even harmful, while knowledge drawn from the reservoir of Scripture must be used to advance the Kingdom of God in this world. ANLA is a leadership academy which emphasizes that it is the responsibility of each person to obediently use the tools they have acquired to exercise godly dominion in every profession, occupation, or endeavor they pursue. 3 Thus, the key to the Christian life is not knowledge per se, but ethical action (based on the standard of the Bible) for which all knowledge must be used. Why is a Christian Leadership Academy Needed? To develop significant leaders in the church for the kingdom of God, a vacuum not filled by most Bible Schools or tertiary institutions. To call out extraordinary leadership from believers in Christ as they minister within their churches so that the church may advance in its mission in the world. Leadership is not the private practice of selected charismatic men or women in leadership positions; it is also the activity of ordinary men and women when they act upon the latent potential to lead within them. To develop leadership and administrative skills within people for the mission of the church and the kingdom of God. Effective leadership is supported by sound administrative activity. To provide a place for developing administrative skills across a broad range of practice including strategic planning, human resource management, organizational dynamics, and financial administration. To assure that leaders in the local context, which is the frontier of the mission, receive excellent support in leadership development as well as those who serve in institutional settings. To provide leadership development and resources to our communities as well as to church entities. What is the vision for ANLA? Our vision is to transform ordinary followers into significant leaders and to empower them by Christian principles to enable them to provide outstanding leadership for the local church and the kingdom of God throughout the world. The Academy provides these leaders with ongoing leadership development based on the servant leadership model of Christ. ANLA promotes and pursues a biblically based model of servant leadership, a place for academicians and field practitioners to link in a process of Biblical reflection that shapes the church s understandings of leadership and clarifies transformational leadership development across all race, gender and culture divides. The 3-C principle of development At ANLA we seek transformation of persons in the context of leadership development and see the development of leaders on three distinct levels, the first being transformation of the person (character), the second being development of leadership traits (capacity), and the third being formation of administrative skills. (competency) Introduction to Leadership 101 Program (Certificate) This is a 1 year program designed to give the student an introduction to Christian leadership with special focus on first and foremost the transformation of the person s character. 4 Requirements: 68 semester hours (February-November) Introduction to Leadership 201 Program (Diploma) This is a one-year program designed to give the student an introduction to Christian leadership with special focus on the development and formation of leadership capacity. Requirements: 68 semester hours (February-November) Entrance requirement for this program is the completion of our leadership 101 program. Introduction to Leadership 301 Program (Degree) This is a one-year program designed to give the student an introduction to Christian leadership with special focus on the development and formation of leadership competency. Requirements: 68 semester hours (February-November) Entrance requirement for this program is the completion of our leadership 101 & 201 programs. The Ambassador s School Program (Future PhD Program) The Ambassador s School is comprised of students who desire a thorough knowledge of Christian Leadership strategies and Logistics. This will require intense study and research along with the writing and publishing of position papers in an effort to disseminate Biblical solutions to modern day problems. Entrance requirements for this program is the completion of our leadership 101, 201 and 301 programs. Who is the Ambassador s School aimed at? Students desiring to explore leadership in government and public policy can sign onto the All Nations School of Ambassador s program. This tract can be completed in either one or two years and consists of research, study and leadership involvement in the local community. A select series of lectures and readings accompany this tract of study, which is especially designed for leadership in action. Accreditation The All Nations Leadership Academy is not accredited by any regional, provincial or national secular accreditation agency in South Africa. ANLA rejects the secularism of conventional accreditation and the stifling of creativity. However, ANLA in no way rejects the idea that education must be of the highest caliber. 5 We are in the early stages of the incorporation of a Christian University in the USA which will allow us the privilege to issue bachelors and masters degrees. What is the general consensus? Leaders across the denominational spectrum are congruent that the need exists and must be arrested and redressed as a matter of urgency to ensure that future generations function at optimum levels. In an ideal world, spiritual fathers produce spiritual sons to ensure the perpetuity of the values and purposes of God, however we are in a period of transition and intervention is still required to ensure a positive outcome. When and where? The school takes place on a part time basis over a three year period in a classroom environment. However, we recognize the fact that many of our prospective leaders are currently engaged in demanding careers and anticipate providing training and mentoring via distance learning in the future. Lectures take place at ANLA situated at suite 301, Tygerberg Centre, 16 Voortrekker Road, Bellville, South Africa. Fees A registration fee of R150 plus a monthly fee of R225 x 10 months or R2150 if paid in full at time of registration. The graduation fees are R425 and should be paid at least 1 month before the annual graduation. The leadership course runs over a 3 year period as per monthly publicized schedule.
