0.6 I think I would investigate what I saw in Daily Mail what I saw I would investigate. I investigate anything of political nature but others do so. This must have been investigate. 9th and 10th April 1963 P.A.C. troubles. They had their own modus operandi. I was concerned with 38 arrested and five were found guilty. The mineworker who wanted to convince the Police that he had found sabotage group. Rand Daily Mail said that woman phoned to say Putfontein was work of Committee of Liberation. I did no search at all I was not the first in the lounge. BY COAKER I left the whole of investigation to van Rensburg. I can t say what statements were taken. Definitely taken from some members. Had interview with Fine and Behrman. They were interviewed by Prosecutor they were together they mentioned Kantor s name I can t remember on account of children. I can t it is in the same vehicle. They were interviewed about Kantor. I don t think written statement was taken from them. On I saw Kantor I did not speak to him. I heard Dirker warn him not to stand around. When arrested Mrs. Goldreich 3 children. I made no arrangements for children. Goldreich was also there. I don t know whether Fine wanted to use phone nor Kantor. I left before him and Fine and Mrs.Behrman. I took no interest. I can t remember Mrs Arenstein because people came and went. I can t say how many col s were there whom, I did not know with private. At the gate there was guard to prevent people from coming in. Kantor came there as attorney He was at the back when I saw him.

REX. 0.7 Mrs. Goldreich came with Enid. I think she had children. The only one who asked for warrant. She was aggressive and detained. Interview at Greys Information there was from privileged source. He is Goldreich s relation and Arenstein she is sister Arenstein. There was a connection between Greef and Arenstein.

BRUNO MTOLO Recalled for XAC I understand English perfectly well. I have read advanced works of Dielectrical Materialism, etc. Visit to H.C. in June Took batch of men with me. Got in touch with Slovo eventually got to H.C. I did not bring people with me then. George Naicker gave me money directly. He handed money to me directly. Reads from Page 141: I boarded train at P.M.B. Went by train from Durban to P.M.B. Reads: Ablon Duma was sent to Naicker R20 I said that Ablon Duma did go. I might have been confusing two situations. A.D. was sent to Naicker arranged booking got R20-00 from Naicker. Reads from record Slovo visit etc... All is correct I gave evidence + 3 weeks ago at Durban. At Durban State trying to establish Naicker was treasurer--- I don t know. Reads from record at Durban. G.N. George Naicker handed me money for High Command. Reads record. I said I would explain mistake. On first occasion I came to H.C. fetched money. I had to go to H.C. twice. I only went to H.C. once. When I actually WENT money was given by Ablon. 0.8

10 minutes ago I said George Naicker. I immediately said there many be confusion between two occasion. When I went to H.C. Ablon Duma fetched money when I actually went to meeting I would say that is correct. On second occasion when I had to go the H.C., but did NOT arrive there, G.N. gave me money. Reads P.M.B. evidence again It is correct. Even though I did NOT see H.C. or arrive there, I was going to meting and that is why I said that. Puts: Adept at tailoring evidence to meet circumstances of case. A. Not so. Puts: When gave evidence here NOT issue whether G.N. or A.D. gave you money BUT in P.M.B. was in issue to prove G.N. the treasurer. Yes. Puts: Fashioned evidence at P,.M.B. for this purpose. Deals with Item 76 I remember petrol bomb in N. Coast train --- Reads Durban evidence P P Anxious to tell Crt. it was a mistake. P I don t know Perumal. Puts: Perumal gave evidence at P.M.B. that he placed bomb on train own decision. A. I don t know. I have never seen Perumal don t know what he looks like. If P. gave that evidence, my evidence now agrees with it. H.C. did NOT instruct N.C. train to be fired. Puts Evidence in Chief at Pta Page

0.10 I gave that evidence Now I will explain. Although H.C. did NOT instruct job it was done it was reported and approved. How does that fit in with It was decided... Ebrahim and his group would do that job... had to put bomb on train was that evidence true--- It requires explanation but amounts to what I said. Is it true or not that H.C. decided E. and group would put bomb on train--- Before committed it was a mistake to say H.C. s act. But for P.M.B. evidence position would have been that H.C. decided in advance to attack N.C. train --- Act authorised by H.C. and no mistake --- That is correct. That is what my evidence amounted to. People could have been punished on that evidence. Reads from Pager 92 (line 22) Why did you say that H.C. discussed this. A.C. frightened Train empty--- I am also a human being my mind works as a human being remember things at certain time. Suggests evidence tailored to fit Perumals. Just reported as successful I don t know what happened--- I personally do not know that. It is because was I ever asked what happened to bomb- In Jhb. I was NOT asked what was reported only if it was successful. I failed to give evidence because I had forgotten it. ITEM 147 Reads from Page 1088 Jhb Record Line 20 I don t remember reply to Did you get report back on Induna s room. Well did you get a report back It was done was reported back was successful Reported back that frightening was successful. Continues up to where was it placed according to report back

0.11 Also at P.M.B. I had some difficulty about that Idea was that Induna had to be frightened not badly injured but a friend of the Induna had to be attacked NOT Induna Friend had to be frightened. Bomb had to be placed in friend s house NOT Induna s. Reads from P. 108 I got report back that it was placed on ventilation window of friends room. Difference is two occns on one occn friend s room 2nd occn Induna s room. Bomb in Induna s room. Was it authorised or not--- Frightening of Induna was instns. occn. when friend had to be attacked. Bomb in room of Induna was it authorised or not--- No When placed in his own place, it was NOT an instruction of H.C. Why did you say this Induna had to be frightened I made bomb etc.--- It is still correct what I am saying. It is all correct, except bomb NOT placed in Induna s place, BUT friend s place. I think I did make that explanation under XAC. If I said Induna's room I coupled it with friend s house. Idea was to frighten Induna. Put bomb in somebody else s room to frighten Induna--- Yes it was his asst. Why not Induna's room--- I do not know reason for decision, I don t know why it was done. I was on H.C. I had to do with deliverations There was a particular reason for this I don t remember reason. THAT person. I have not read XAC. I believe I explained this is XAC. There was a discussion about this agreement that it was to be done that way Can t remember if there was a protest

0.12 Puts XAC at P. It is exactly there where I was trying to explain that attack on Induna as NOT part of instructions of H.C. My recollection is that I said... :just a minute I want to explain what I said. I said Induna had to be frightened with bomb, I don t remember saying this A.M. In evidence in chief said P.B. to be placed in Induna's room report back successful in XAC, introduced NON political cases = bomb in Induna s room was a mistake. Puts: at P.M.B. knew what you had said in XAC, and that is why at P.M.B. you invented story of friend s room. By Crt: Was bomb put in assistant s room. A. Yes. Led in evidence by Dr. Yutar that bomb placed in Induna s room n instructions of H.C. Did you make statement that there were two pipe bombs, and not authorised by HC was friend of Induna--- I may NOT have out it in statement 0- I think I did mention it. Did you say two pipe bombs used one on friend s room (authorised). one in Induna s room (unauthorised)--- I do remember police questioned me about other bomb. Did you in statement to police say HC authorised placing of bomb in room of Induna s friend not led; not charged here or Durban--- I might not have put it that way in statement, I said one bomb in friend s place and other in Induna s place. I explained to Police that bomb at Induna s friend s place as to frighten Induna. Did you explain tot Police that bomb at Induna had nothing to do with HC--- I can t remember saying that depends on

0.13 how question put. I understood importance of saying whether act authorised or not. I gave evidence at P.E. of Mduli s case. I said it here. I wanted to say... Reads from P.M.B. Page 1865 Concealed from Police and Crt. that you had acquired bomb and given to Mduli because you were not questioned on it. Police only wanted to know as to whether Mduli had called a meeting in office I replied to Qun. I did NOT speak about bomb because I was not asked. Witness gave evidence at P/E called Patrick Mlambo Reads Mlambo s evidence. Puts: Adept at finding reasons for anything you might find yourself in difficulty Reads evidence at P.M.B. Page 1971 et sec. That is my evidence ITEMS 126, 127 AND 128 Reads from Page 101 of evidence in Chief at Jhb Evidence is correct Was put in XAC at Durban that many acts of AC NOT authorised. Reads p of P.M.B. Is that what you said ---- I think I did so. Is that true?---yes. Acts at Kwa Mashu were authorised by H.C. Why did you say I don t remember. Judge said were there targets at K.M. which were not authorised and I said I don t know.

0.14 ITEM 181 There is one incident where H.C. criticised. I am NOT certain whether petrol bomb on P/Train OR case of Molotov bomb. Memory is NOT always so sharp to remember events. In witness box after guns things become refreshed and memory gets better. I know what you are talking about I am not certain which of the two I mentioned. Reads evidence At P.M.B. a great number of things which you did NOT testify to at Jhb. Yes, a whole lot of things which were never raised at P.M.B. Puts: Ready to concede mistake when confronted by evidence of H/W. ---If I realise it is a mistake. I would remember things as I saw it. Measure pylon at New Germany. Dynamite at Shallcross Coetzee Naicker Reads from Page 1995 Reads from evidence at P.M.B Made a statement questioning did not quite believe know could not be used Refused to go to Mag. PUT: Police did not seem to believe that I had gone to Rivonia. Correct I refused to go to Mag. RE-EXD. I have not been released from custody yet,
