Good News from St. Pius X/St. Leo School "St. Pius X / St. Leo School is a diverse community forming students in the Catholic faith to excel in academics and service to others." St. Pius X/St. Leo School Hello St. Pius X / St. Leo Community members, Last week, I did something new for our bulletin and instead of me reporting on the great things happening around the school we had those great things being reported from the students. I received so much wonderful feedback from our school and parish community members about last week s bulletin that I thought I would do it again. Thus, this week, we interviewed a few more students and they shared their experiences from their first month at St. Pius X / St. Leo. I hope you enjoy these students quotes on St. Pius X/St. Leo School as much as last week! Natalie, 8th grade: I love the atmosphere and the community. The teachers are really nice and they don t pressure you too much and help you ease into the new school year. Also, I love my friends. Everyone is really close so you can ask anyone a question and it doesn t matter who they are, they will help. Colby, 2nd grade: I love recess. I also learn a lot from my teachers and it s fun. They help us do stuff like getting higher in reading, spelling and math. Math is my favorite and I love everything about it like addition, subtraction and multiplying. There are lots of different ways to do math and one day I want to learn about it all! If you have children in grades Pre-Kindergarten (3-year-old and 4-year-old programs) to Grade 8 that you are thinking about sending to our school for this school year, please call our school office at 402-551-6667 to set up a time to come and visit, and, then enroll your child/ ren when you decide to come to our school. We are blessed that our grades are filling up, but would love for you and your family to join our school family this year! Robert, 4th grade: The teachers are really good at teaching. If you need help, they help you find the answer. Also, if someone is mean to you, they get it to stop somehow. I know some teachers may not help if someone is mean, but not Pius/Leo teachers! Audrey, 6th grade: I like that we have a full spring break this year and I like the new lunches. I also like how mods work in 6th grade and how we get our new schedules. I also really like student council and that we get dress down days and get to perform in the 5th/6th grade musical. Also, I am really excited for Show Choir! Joslyn, 4th grade: The teachers are really nice and we get to do a lot of fun games in the classroom to help us learn. If I don t understand something, they help build you up. They review things with us, especially when we forget something. Cecilia, 2nd grade: I get to learn more here. If I were at another school, I wouldn t have such good friends, teachers and principal. My favorite subject is phonics. We get to circle and write fun things in phonics. Sometimes it s tricky, but I like it to be tricky because it gives me a nice challenge because it s not at my level, but it will be. In Pursuit of Life, Love and Happiness By: Deacon Jim Shipman People often think of prophecy as the telling of future events, which it can be, however it is really the proclamation of God s truth. His truth includes the precepts or teachings on how our Lord wants us to live. In our first reading today from Numbers, God sends his Spirit upon 72 elders to proclaim His teachings so that what was started through Moses might continue to build up God s people. A controversy started because two the elders received God s Spirit outside the meeting. Moses said, Would that all the people of the LORD were prophets! In the Gospel the apostles were upset because some were casting out demons in Jesus name. Jesus makes the point that whoever is for us, cannot be against us. Our Catholic Church is the fullness of the God s truth, but other faiths who believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior also have access to proclaim or prophecy His truth. Jesus also prophecies in the Gospel that leading anyone away from God s truth or into sin will be punished. Jesus cautions us with hyperbole that whatever causes to sin must be eliminated from our life. In our modern world the distractions that fill our lives is a good example of things that need to be cut off. Our prayer should be to allow God to remove those obstacles from our lives which cause us to sin. That will allow us to hear, understand and to follow His prophecies and to live in union with him. God s prophecy or truth is perfect and refreshes our soul. His teachings are trustworthy and give us wisdom. The precepts of the Lord give joy to our heart. St. Leo Knights of Columbus NOTE! Prayer is effective; prayer is powerful; prayer is essential. Few are called to priesthood or religious life, but all are called to pray for vocations. Lord, your Church is in need. Touch the hearts of many within our parish with the desire to serve you. Call forth from this community sisters, brothers, deacons, priests and lay leaders. Help us to live lives that will nurture childhood trust into adult commitment. May this parish be a source of hope and a source of ministers for your Church, your people and your world. Amen. Parish Directory Our parish directory will be published soon. Please update name, address and phone changes by emailing Betsy at: churchlady107@juno.com Omaha, NE l 09
