A motion was passed to accept the previous minutes with corrections. Report of Admission Committee and Reading of Applications. Grand Knight s Report Next quarterly mass is October 15 th at 11:00 am. Grand Knight Doug K said the officer installation went well and thanks all who participated. There was discussion on if the council would like to keep the quarterly mass and installation together. Council concurred it went well and will continue to keep it combined with the quarterly mass. Knights of Columbus Council #14439 Business Meeting Minutes for August 23, 2017 Page 1 of 4

GK reminded the council for the second degree this weekend, there are a few candidates from our council. He asked for a few to help with setup to be present at 9:30am, the candidates to be present at 10:00am. This is for an 11:00am start time. A meal will follow the installation. Below are the upcoming installations: 2 nd Degree at St. Peter the Apostle Wilmington Island on September 2 nd 3 rd Degree at St. Anne Richmond Hill: September 17 th 4 th Degree at St. Peter the Apostle Wilmington Island: April 7 th, 2018 Contact GK for interest in either helping, participating or advancing in these exemplifications. Treasurer s Report Bank Balance as of July 31 st, 2017 was $4,664.77. There were 4 outstanding checks totaling $397.99 and no outstanding deposits. Account balance as of August 23 rd, 2017 was $4,266.78. Checks were read out by Br Rick M. Reading by Grand Knight of Receipts of Treasurer to Financial Secretary and Treasurer s Voucher of Deposit Since our July 27 th meeting, there have been 2 receipts submitted totaling $70.00 and 3 vouchers submitted totaling $72.94 Reading of Bills and Communications GK updated the council on Br Ken Copley s grandson, Justin McGregor. He is doing well and has a new ladyfriend who is helping him around. Br Ken feels she and her children have been a blessing to him. Br Ken wants us to continue to keep him in our prayers. Financial Secretary s Report of Receipts of Meeting Report of Auditors and Trustees Chancellor s Report on Vocations Report of Service Program Committees Unfinished Business The Parish Chicken Dinner is Saturday Oct 21 st. GK reminded the council to plan to help cook Friday Oct 20 th. The Golf Tourney which will be held November 4 th at the Lost Plantation Golf Course. Contact Brothers Paul Tanguay, Joe Burdick, and Rick Monteleone for additional information or sponsorship information. The Southern Soccer Challenge which is being set up for the southern region, just as the northern region supports. Brother Paul T is planning to have it September 30 th. The location is still TBD with potential at Grace Baptist Church off Goshen Rd. Volunteers will be needed. The KofC Breakfast is to be held September 17 th between the 8:30am and 11:00am masses. GK reminded council to sell tickets at masses. Patti will have it in the bulletin as well. There has been a Gmail acct setup for the council: KofC.Council.14439@gmail.com. Family of the month: Congrats to Weber family for winning Family of the Month for Council 14439! Motion was made to nominate one family per Family of the Month by Br Jake P, Br Roger L 2 nd ; motion passed. The August Family of the Month nominations were the Miller family and the Liebl family; the council voted for the Miller family as Family of the Month. The council needs Christmas cards for the fundraiser, but we have enough magnets. Br Joe C made a motion to purchase another box of cards, Br Charlie M 2 nd ; motion passed. Br Lenny D and Rick M continue to help Br Paul Sweat with his yard cleaning. Cleanup is Tuesday evenings from around 5:30 until 7:30. If you are available to help, either show up or contact them. Br Paul has most of the tools available; just bring some gloves. There was a Vocations Day reminder for November 12 th. Volunteers may be needed as necessary. Br Jake P announced the Council Facebook page has been started as a close/private page. Brothers can share photos, discussions, and info for upcoming council events. Also, it will help to gather information for State Council award nominations. Br Jake P explained as he is not friends with all the brothers within the council; feel free to add other brothers in the page for approval. The admins are GK, Br Joe C, Paul T, and Chris W. New Business Budget Review: Br Joe C went over the specifics of the budget and the interpreting of information. He clarified some items (to include breakfast, church organ). There was discussion for cards/magnet budgeting; clarified that motions made years prior for the inclusion of Christmas cards and magnets. Motion made to accept by Br Chris W, Br Charlie M 2 nd, discussion for line cards /magnets. Motion passed without amendment. Discussion on purchasing 1 st degree: knight s supplies for ceremonials; prices are (approx.) $385, $329. This allows for a more ceremonial experience to add meaning of becoming a full member in the Knights of Columbus. Motion made by Br Chris W in favor, Br Roger L 2 nd ; discussion: 1 time purchase was confirmed. The motion passed without amendment. Br Paul T and Joe C will research further for pricing/kits. Discussion for the need of a degree team for the first degree was had. The SBCC Faith Formation building needs new A/C unit. GK wants to support the parish for the units. There was discussion on the council budget and parish budget. Council agrees to table until Sept business meeting. Gerry Klock needs volunteer for driving Fr Isadore at night, who has difficulty seeing at night. Signup sheet is at the back. The Women s Auxiliary is being looked into being started up by Carissa Klutzke. The Women s Auxiliary will help with breakfasts, Golf Tourneys, Christmas Party, and other Council events. Signup sheet is at the back. Banners need further research, but preliminary findings are: basic banners $80/ea, more complex $100. Further discussion will be tabled until September. It was clarified the $40 licensing fee from the first banner source goes to the charity of our choice. Br Joe C asked if licensing needed if we go to another source. GK is going to find out. Br Jake P passed around the banner styles for the district source.
