OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Growing In Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) Dear Parishioners, Our sympathy to the family and friends of Gene Wenner. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Monday evening was our first Catholic Watchmen night. It was filled with great conversation and faith-sharing, food and prayer! There were about 40 men in attendance, and there is plenty room for more. This first night, Tony Grack presented a little about the Catholic Man Crisis. Too often, the media portrays men in a negative light (think Al Bundy or Homer Simpson). Too often, men are displayed as idiots or dolts, or over domineering. A few more positive portrayals include James Bond who has no really family bonds (as Bishop Olmsted in his document Into the Breach points out). We can point to more misbehaviors than strong models of masculinity. Much of society s ills can be traced to the lack of true men - from the BLM movement to single mothers, to abortion. But there is another way, one that is not portrayed well in the media - the family man, sure, strong, consistent, and humble. These are the men that fill our parishes, and these are the men we hope to reach, encourage, and develop. There are men willing to give of themselves, to sacrifice for wife and family. These are men who are modeling their lives after Jesus Christ and being disciples and invite others to follow Christ. With this in mind, hopefully we can all see that the Catholic Watchmen is not in competition to the KCs, mens groups, etc, that are already in place but a means to help them. The Midnight Watch and the events themselves, while they take the men away from their families for those times, actually allow them to return stronger and better! In Christ, Fr. Todd J. Petersen ============================================================================ WEEKLY SCHEDULE September 18-25, 2016 Sunday 25 th Ordinary Time September 18 th 8 AM Mass, Nicollet 10 AM Mass, (+LeRoy & Randy Blaschko), St. Peter 10 AM Sunday School 11 AM Coffee and Donuts, Social Hall 4 PM Confirmation Sponsor Meeting 5:30 PM Mass, St. Peter 7:00 PM Lifeteen Monday 8 AM Mass (+Maurice Brown), Chapel 9 AM Adult Bible Study, Family Room 6:30 PM Card Class 7:00 PM APC Meeting, St. Peter Tuesday 8 AM Mass, (+Jim & Nancy Vetter), Chapel 3 PM JI Choir Rehearsal Wednesday 8 AM Mass, Nicollet 8:15 JIS Prayer Service 6:30 PM Sanctuary Choir Practice 6:30 PM Grade 2-8 Faith Formation Thursday 8:15 AM JIS Mass (+Helen Vogt) Church 1-10 PM Eucharistic Adoration, Chapel 3:30 PM Confession, Chapel 7:00 PM KCs 3rd Degree Friday 8 AM Mass (+Charles Regenscheid), Chapel 11:00 PM Midnight Watch Saturday 3 8 PM Fall Festival 5 PM Mass (+Suzanne Putz), St. Peter Sunday, 26 th Ordinary Time September 25th 8 AM Mass, Nicollet 8:30 AM 12:30 PM Fall Festival 10 AM Mass, (+Parish Family), St. Peter 10 AM Sunday School 7 PM Lifeteen Prayer Ministry Please Pray for Heather Giefer and Misty Hamar. Church of St. Peter Sunday Mass: Mondays 7 pm Tuesday - 9 am RENEWED - #3 St. Peter Public Access TV Channel 7 Fr. Reed believes that the best remedy for what ails both individual Catholics and the Church as a whole is a lively sense of the riches of tradition embodied in the lives of the saints. In his urgent and passionate call to renewal, Fr. Reed profiles twenty saints (two per episode) who, like Catholics today, lived in times of crisis when the way forward was unclear. He derives ways that viewers can begin to revive their faith and revitalize the Church. Wednesday, September 21 @ 9 pm Thursday, September 22 @ 10 am SILENT AUCTION The Silent Auction is a big part of our Harvest Festival. Following the first session, we will alternate one week at a time with the Study of Luke and our upcoming Sunday reading. None of us claim to be great scholars, but we enjoy the time with study, sharing and prayers. Please feel free to come and see if this is something you would enjoy. Life and Dignity Sunday September 17-18, 2016 Today is Life and Dignity Sunday in the Diocese of New Ulm. It is a day that Bishop LeVoir has provided for parishes to discuss our Catholic responsibilities of being engaged citizens who are forces of good in our communities. You are invited and have the opportunity to register for the statewide Minnesota Catholic Conference (MCC) Catholic Advocacy Network, which is a faithful, compassionate, moral voice for life, dignity, and justice in our state. If you registered, thank you! We encourage you to take advantage of the many advocacy resources and Catholic Social Teaching tools that the network provides, and we will be diligent in responding to the occasional e-mails that the network will send asking you to help us take action on important social or public policy issues. If you missed signing up today, you can still register online at MCC s website: Visit MNCC.org for more information. MCC is the public policy voice for the six Minnesota Catholic dioceses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looking for a Tutor?
