Good News from St. Pius X/St. Leo School "St. Pius X / St. Leo School is a diverse community forming students in the Catholic faith to excel in academics and service to others." St. Pius X/St. Leo School Hello St. Pius X / St. Leo Community members, This week for our parish bulletins, I wanted to change things up a tad. Normally, these bulletins are from me reporting on the great things happening around the school and our many successes. However, our mission at St. Pius X / St. Leo school firmly puts our student s growth and forming them in the Catholic faith to excel in academics and service to others and we felt that a nice change of pace would be to hear from those students. We are always excited to welcome new families to our community and one of the things that makes me the happiest to be the principal at St. Pius X / St. Leo is how our everyone embraces, welcomes and celebrates our new students and how they make our community better. This week, we interviewed a few of those new students and they shared their experiences from their first month at St. Pius X / St. Leo. Enjoy! Christopher, 3rd grade: People are very friendly and at first I was shy but my friends and teachers always help me and now I am more excited Bryce, Kindergarten: I like my teacher because we always get to do art after reading a story and because we get to go to the playground and even if it s raining we get to do a Go Noodle activity. If you have children in grades Pre-Kindergarten (3-year-old and 4-year-old programs) to Grade 8 that you are thinking about sending to our school for this school year, please call our school office at 402-551-6667 to set up a time to come and visit, and, then enroll your child/ ren when you decide to come to our school. We are blessed that our grades are filling up, but would love for you and your family to join our school family this year! Esau, 5th grade: People are nice and its (Pius/Leo) a place where I know I can get a good education. I like in science right now that we are learning about planets and social studies is really interesting. I really like music and band and getting to play an instrument (clarinet). Crystal, 5th grade: I like all the activities that I get to do, like Coding Club after school. I like having mods too as I get to see three teachers and they are very nice and treat me kindly. Sophia, Kindergarten: I like my school because my teacher is really nice to every single kid. There is also a lot of stuff to do here, like music class and playing with my best friends and eating in the cafeteria. I like learning about animals and how they live and when I get older, I want to be a doctor for animals because animals need a lot of care. I also want to be a doctor for people too! Rocky, 7th grade: At my school I am learning more things than I have ever before and the teachers take education very seriously. People have accepted me here and are very, very nice. This year I get to do drama club and that makes me happy as I have wanted to act ever since I was a little kid but have never had the chance to do that. In Pursuit of Life, Love and Happiness By: Deacon Jim Shipman In today s second reading, St James proclaims, Where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every foul practice. But wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, complaint, full of mercy and good fruits, without inconstancy or insincerity. He goes on to say, Where do the wars and where do the conflicts among you come from? Is it not from your passions that make war within your members? When we look at our own political situation today, what James wrote two thousand years ago should give us a clue on why there is so much conflict going on. We are not in a war between Democrats and Republicans, liberal verses conservative. We are in constant conflict because we have lost our way and do not follow the will of God. Selfish ambition, greed and jealousy have taken over and God s Wisdom is all but forgotten. One of the most wonder gifts of the Holy Spirit is Wisdom. It helps us know God s will in our life, and directs our heart to follow the Lord. Scripture teaches us that fear of the Lord is the first stage of Wisdom. We cannot learn work together and live as God intended without the gift of Wisdom. Evil and discourse will dominate our lives if we do not allow our Lord s Wisdom to guild our lives. Evil can work through people who are without the Wisdom of God. They refuse to recognize the Truth and God s will. If we really desire peace and joy and happiness in our lives, we must pray for God to awaken his gift of Wisdom within us and within those who lead us. St. Leo Knights of Columbus Thank you to all the knights and their families who helped with the Festival this year.
