Men Altar Servers Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness. Psalm 96:6 Dear Men of Ascension and St. Bernard, I would like you to ask God if He would like you to be an altar server. As I noted at Sunday Mass and in the bulletin, beginning in November adult (18 and up) male altar servers will be serving Sunday (Sat. evening) Masses on the 1 st Sunday of each month. We are grateful that we are blessed with women who serve as EMHCs and Readers and other liturgical roles--they do so in numbers greater than men. It is healthy for a parish to witness laymen leading prayer. Since the men will be wearing server albs and carrying items up and down the sanctuary steps they must have good balance/stability. The training session for both Ascension and St. Bernard men will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27th at 6pm OR Sunday, Oct. 28 th at 11am BOTH AT ASCENSION. I am hopeful that the men who serve will provide an attentive and devote example of how to serve for our younger servers. We know young people need role models. Is God calling you to be one as an altar server at Mass? Our life and mission flow from the altar of Christ. Fr. For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 October Family Rosary - All families, couples and individuals are invited to pray the family rosary 25 minutes before Sunday (Saturday) Mass in October. Indeed, we as parishes are family. Prayer bonds a family together. The Mass is the most profound family prayer. The rosary prepares us to enter more fully into the Mass as we insert ourselves into the maternal heart of Mary and she introduces us to a deeper relationship with her Son.
